Why should you use Waze?

Waze is a FREE mobile smartphone program that delivers real-time traffic statistics, step-by-step GPS navigation, road warnings (radar, police, accidents, traffic jams), closed roads, and more. Waze gets traffic data from all users on the road.

Simply by leaving the Waze app open on your phone, Waze collects traffic data (speed/times required to make turns) and utilizes it to detect traffic jams and save it in an archive so Waze always knows what the quickest segments and turns are based on the hour and day of the week.

So, the route supplied by Waze is based on both the traffic circumstances at that moment, as provided by other Waze users who are stuck in traffic, and the traffic history of the time and day, ensuring that the route provided is always the best.

Waze provides much better routes than other navigators that offer real-time traffic via the TMC system. It warns you about potential hazards and other issues on the road in real time.

It gained popularity in part due to the police signaling option in traffic.

There is the option of conversing on the map (conversations on the public map where anyone can comment). Each report can include an attached image as well as user comments.

Does Waze Have Truck Routes?

Unfortunately, Waze does not yet offer a truck-specific routing option.

Despite several comments on the software forum, the manufacturer has failed to integrate this critical option. For the time being, Waze can only create routes for standard vehicles and not for large vehicles.

Waze users that actively participate in map editing and updating report that, while it is possible to add weight constraints, width, and other restrictions to the map, they are not yet effectively tuned.

It all relies on how the manufacturer comes up with a way for consumers to easily set up the map with specific vehicle limits.

Typically, GPS truck software employs a few constraints: tonnage, length, height, and width. They assist the software program in selecting only roadways that can be circulated with these dimensions.

Of course, you may insert other limits such as road restrictions in certain towns, load restrictions, and so on. However, when it comes to trucks, there are a few more factors to consider. Given Waze's popularity, a poorly deployed truck feature that causes accidents or blocks trucks on particular highways owing to faults might result in litigation against the business.

There are multiple instances of Waze generating incorrect routes for tiny automobiles, as well as numerous reports of defective mode in which the Waze algorithm decides to take unsuitable roads. Waze's routing algorithm is inferior than that of Google Maps. This algorithm should work flawlessly in Waze's truck mode.

How can we continue to use Waze while driving a truck?

The most straightforward option would be to utilize Waze and another GPS-based truck software such as Sygic, Copilor, or iGO Truck. We launch Waze on our phone and minimize it, allowing it to operate just in the background for the notifications we require (police, blockages, dangers).

Of course, this method has drawbacks. It will significantly drain the phone battery, and we will want a high-performance phone with enough of RAM to run these two softwares together. However, it is currently the only way to utilize Waze in truck mode.
