New federal laws (from February 7, 2022), are in place to increase highway safety. What are the new CDL rules for 2022? All the new drivers need to complete the new entry-level driver training. Furthermore, the new drivers will need to complete the theory part as well as behind the wheel instructions from one of the FMCSA approved schools.

These regulations apply to those:

The new CDL training requirements 2022 do not apply to those who have previously applied prior to February 7th 2022. In addition, those who received the endorsements before this date are also exempt from these requirements. Drivers have one year to complete the training from the moment that the prerequisites are completed. Anyone who satisfies one of the 49 CFR Part 383 exemptions for taking a skills exam are exempt from the new CDL rules 2022 and ELDT requirements.
