I hired this firm after a strong recommendation that they were Quick Books experts. We were fooled by a couple of accounting AR - AP new staff members who really were not as qualified as they held themselves out to be. Sue Lange, CPA and Vanessa Richardson, who handle our account, just jumped in and did what needed to be done to re-craft and re-do all the mistakes made by others. I highly recommend them.

I have been using various accountants since 1986. For the first time ever I feel like I am in good hands. Alexis Willis always calls me ahead of deadlines and believes that the details matter. She takes very good care of me.

Unbelievable experience at the Warren Averett in Anniston, AL. I was referred to WA a couple of years ago by a local friend and business owner. Warren Averett (WA) completed my 2017 and 2018 taxes. I personally overlooked a couple of issues with my taxes and failed to report them properly, causing the IRS to flag my 2017 taxes for audit. I received an audit notification in the mail and took it to WA for their help. I was told my CPA would call me. I was never contacted and attempted to call again, each time the front office told me my CPA had just stepped-out but the front desk would have him call me upon his return. This went on for a couple of weeks and three phone calls. On both the second and third calls I complained that no one had gotten back to me. Although the front desk was professional, never did they display any type of empathy, just told me they would have him call me back. I missed my IRS Deadline and had at least a week left when I initially dropped-off the notice. A couple of days ago, I'm looking on the WA website, trying to find a way to complain and contact someone other than the front desk and I come across my CPA's email link, so I write to the email, describing my unhappiness and the lack of customer support I've received. A day or two goes by, and I never received a response, so I'm back on their website trying to find a way to make contact with someone that will just give me an answer and help me. All of a sudden, a chat box appears on the website with a person asking me if I need help. I basically tell them the whole story, the person apologizes to me. This was the first person at WA during this whole ordeal to even acknowledge there was an issue by simply saying "I'm sorry this was your experience." I chatted back and told her that at this point, all I wanted was my audit notice and copies of my two tax returns and I would come by WA in Anniston the following day and retrieve the documents. I told her I would take my business somewhere else. She stated she would arrange for the documents to be ready the next day. The following day, I went by and told the lady at the counter who I was and stated that there should be a packet there for me. She professionally handed me the documents and I went on my way. I honestly was surprised that no one from WA attempted to contact me or acknowledge any of this. I really feel they don't truly care about their customers...I'm not left to believe anything but that, based on this incident. I understand people make mistakes, but you show your true character during incidents like this. If you have an unhappy customer, you should at least attempt to mend fences and/or acknowledge your customer's dissatisfaction. The only voice your customer has is to voice their displeasure through public reviews, such as this.

If you are on the market for a competent CPA, Warren Averett on 101 Monroe Street in downtown Huntsville is NOT the place to go! At this point, I don’t think they know how to spell the word competent! I went to their facility looking for a CPA to ask a handful of questions regarding tax expensing and the initial receptionist we spoke to was super friendly and accommodating. After we told her what we wanted, she initially scheduled us for an appointment the following day with “Leader” S. Ray White Jr. at 4pm. When we arrived, naturally, there was a different receptionist. When we told her who we were there to see, she gave him a call and turns out, he couldn’t see us (mistake number 1). At that point, her co-worker stated that she’d received an email from the first receptionist stating that our appointment would be with a female (can't remember her name). Mind you, we were never notified of this change (mistake number 2). After having us wait in their conference room for a few, all of sudden we were told that this new CPA was on a call and as a result, they wanted us to reschedule our appointment (mistake number 3). When we told the receptionist that we would wait, my wife and I were relocated to the lobby where we waited for another 5 minutes or so. Next thing we know, we were told that the new CPA couldn’t take the meeting (mistake number 4). After expressing how unprofessional this was, I asked the receptionist if any CPA’s were in the building to which she replied "No"...Okay, so at first I was supposed to meet with Mr. White, then it was the other CPA – then all of a sudden, NO CPA’s were in the building (lie)! So, I’m supposed to believe that the two receptionists at the front desk were the only ones in the building, despite my scheduled meeting and the male voice I heard speaking (on a conference call) in the background! Going further, the receptionist kept asking me to leave my name and number so that the new CPA could schedule an appointment with me to which I responded, “You guys already have that information!” The day prior I had given them my name, my wife’s name, our business name, and a contact number. She was like, “Oh…okay.” Before we departed, I let the receptionist know that since we had to endure what we just went through (as a result of wanting to ask a few questions), they’d completely lost my confidence and as a result, I wanted nothing to do with them, and neither should you! You’ve been warned. If they can’t keep up with something as simple as schedule obligations, how on earth are they going to keep up with our constantly evolving, ever changing, complicated tax code? Don’t waste your time or money!

Stephen Perkins is truly dedicated to his career. Stephen found a loop in our tax preparation from a previous company and filed an amended return in our favor that was very impressive. Stephen filed many inquiries in our favor and it paid off for our business. I highly recommend Stephen Perkins if you are looking for a personal or business accountant!!

They added my 2019 tax information with 2018. So it looks like 1 made twice the money as I did. Now the IRS want 10k because it looks like I lied on my taxes. Misidentified income, accuracy Related penalty substantial understatement of tax. Interest. If my 18 taxes are messed up I'm sure 19will be. Until this is straightened out Im doubtful I can receive a refund for 2020. Also takes 4-6 for the IRS to take a look into it
