The IRS triggered an audit for my business for the last 3 tax yrs, I spent a lot of time researching and calling high powered lawyers and accountants. After discussing my case with John I knew he was “my guy”. John and his team went right to work and immediately started to get results that I needed mostly to be assured . John is a tell it like it is and does not sugar coat anything but his expertise is what really got me the results beyond my expectations. Communication and accessibility were perfect. I see after reading reviews that the experience I had is on brand for JLD taxes. My fiance David Haldeman and I paid a significant sum of money for a tax resolution of multiple years in the middle of last year. We never received any kind of summary of this resolution even though during a call Jonathan claimed to be looking at the resolution and said we didn’t owe any money. Numerous notices from the IRS say otherwise. Despite multiple calls and emails requesting this summary we got no response from Jonathan or his offices. Fortunately I paid with American Express who quickly supported my claim of fraud and we were able to get the money back. Of course we are back to square one but with time wasted on this operation. I’m interested to see if Jonathan will take time to respond to this review as he certainly didn’t seem to have the time to talk to us.

I worked with Jon 2017-2020. I was pretty happy at first, but as time went on I realized there were several careless mistakes being made with my returns. For example, I found out in August 2019, while in escrow for my house, that the tax return I had paid for and signed in March 2019 had never been filed. That delayed my closing, and JLD blamed it on a third party filing service. I let that go, but the issues continued. Overall, JLD was more reactive than proactive as it pertained to tax planning. I was looking to be more proactive so I paid JLD $475 in 2021 to do end of year calculations and strategize. The outcome was less helpful than I had hoped, so I contacted other accountants and had them weigh in. I found someone else that understood my tax planning needs and took his time to explain things and discuss. This saved me a lot of money in taxes. In doing so, they found some issues with my previous year returns that JLD had prepared and filed. We are in the process of trying to amend those now. JLD was informed of this via email, and I got no response. Instead, it seems my previously available documents on the JLD client portal are no longer available.

Jon and his team are excellent. They’re extremely professional, timely in their work and responses to my questions, and are always willing to help me find answers to tax related questions. It feels good to have my taxes submitted with confidence.

I met the owner, Jon at a local networking event, and he soon became a tremendous support system for myself and my clients. His knowledge of small business accountancy and tax matters has really helped my clients and has saved them a lot of money on taxes. Jonathan was very responsive at first, but the minute we paid over $1,000 to hire him and he received the money, getting any response from him was nearly impossible. We ultimately told him we wanted our money back because he hadn’t provided any service, didn’t answer any communication and didn’t file our taxes, he originally agreed but offered one call. Jonathan was late for our call which lasted only 5 minutes during which he only confirmed that the research we did (since he wasn’t answering our questions before) was accurate. We were still not satisfied as no advice of any kind was provided, only an excel spreadsheet that looks likes a bad version of TurboTax from 2 decades ago, Jonathan then changed his mind and offered to reimburse only 50% of our payment knowing that no service was still provided at this time other than 5 minutes over the phone to confirm a couple of accounting points we already researched for. He obviously stopped responding and we had to dispute the charge. Long story short: a dishonest thief

Our taxes are not uncomplicated. Yet, JLD has done a tremendous job since we switched to him a few years ago. We can highly recommend him for both personal and business taxes. And, I will say that he is so incredibly responsive to requests for information and documents, etc., that it would be impossible to be more responsive.
