Adam, Todd, and John at ESD will get you more than prepared to pass your examination. The office/admin is great to work with and can answer any questions that you have. Adam is on his feet and passionately training 11 hours a day. And even goes above and beyond to tell you things beyond the scope of what the school is paid to teach, so that you don’t struggle as much when first getting on the road. If you want to drive, this is the place to go. If you have failed elsewhere this is the place to go. Another school near Cullman deemed a student untrainable, and the student switched to ESD and was in my class. ESD had the student ready to pass in two weeks. A+++

Great school, great instructors. All 11 of us that started, we all said, we’re all passing at the same time, NO MAN LEFT BEHIND! The instructors taught us the drills, assisted us all the way to the end. We sharpened and encouraged one another, and not only 11, but 1 extra who failed a few times before us, ended up passing with our class as well. Big shout out to this guy Adam, Dan, Bobby, Paul bka “Fred” if he owe you some money LOL, and Mr. Ron. A GREAT TEAM makes GOOD DRIVERS!

I went here in 2016 around Sep- Oct. I hated staying at the Econo Lodge, but these country boys know what theyre doing. Dont over talk the instructors and take what you're doing serious. I loved every part of the experience! These guys were some real characters! Thanks to the school teachings & my ambition of course. I now own my own truck ?

Blood Raw Reviews #71 As a writer for Consumer Affairs I often compose harsh, biting, and unsparing reviews on everything from the latest items at fast food restaurants to the life-threatening lack of professionalism at some hospitals. I never tell anyone that I’m evaluating their service and/or product, because I don’t want to be treated any different than the average person. Attending E.S.D. School was one of those rare experiences in which I was completely floored by their total commitment to doing the best job possible. First, I’d like to salute A.J. Guthrie (the owner) for putting together such a well oiled machine, and having the insight to pick the right people to keep it running. Wendy Wiggins and Nicklaus Willis definitely made the State’s maze of administrative paperwork and required testing ridiculously easy to understand and navigate through. I can see why so many other schools have people that fail... they don’t have Wendy or Nick. Stacy Gilley and Brittany Archer were the first people I talked to on the phone when I was sifting through which school to attend, and I have to say that they told me nothing but the truth, and didn’t try to sell me any dreams to get me to attend E.S.D.. Halfway through I had an unexpected family issue, and couldn’t concentrate on learning how to inspect the semi (a part that if done wrong would mean the State examiners would fail me). They didn’t treat me like a nobody or a number. They listened to me, gave me solid advice, and went out of their way to make the time I needed to catch back up so I could get my CDL. Adam White is nothing short of a damn wizard! How he’s able to break complicated driving techniques down is literally like magic, and makes you step back and wonder if it was really you that just put an entire truck and trailer through mind bending maneuvers most people can’t do with a little car. If E.S.D. found a way to clone this guy all the other truck driving schools would be put out of business in six months!!! J.P. Painter and Stefan Wiggins are both straight-up, no nonsense gunslingers! They see exactly where students are having problems, and BANG BANG BANG, the problems are toe-tagged and the students are filled with that confidence that only comes when you know that you know something you didn’t know before. Both are always respectful and fun to be around. D.H. Oden is the Old Wise Man of 18 Wheelers. Decades and decades of knowledge and information about trucking and the trucker’s lifestyle sits behind his eyes. There isn’t a situation that he hasn’t encountered. Anyone would come away better off if they just sat and talked with him. Unfortunately, it’s not all cake and ice cream though. Jeff Brandon is someone I didn’t really interact with... seemed a little aggravated most of the time. And Tod Grimes seemed to constantly project negative energy, and leap at the opportunity to criticize and belittle students’ efforts. Just a reminder that just because someone knows something doesn’t mean they’re qualified to teach it. OVERALL: After visiting other schools, and speaking face-to-face with some of their students, and staff (who mostly just said what they thought I wanted to hear), I can say that E.S.D. offers the greatest value for anyone that wants to get their CDL. If how you spend your time and money are important to you then you shouldn’t gamble with either. Do yourself and your future a favor..... sign on with E.S.D..

The instructors are top notch and very knowledgeable. They will guide and teach you and if you can listen and be open minded to what they are telling you you can earn your CDL. Thank you Paul, Bobby, Dan, and Ron for getting me started the right way and sharing your knowledge. I will always remember my time here, one of the most difficult, but fulfilling experiences I have ever had. The school office staff will help you any way they can to get you on your way to a rewarding career. Thank you ESD Decatur, Alabama.

The instructors are tough but fare. They get you the knowledge you need to get your CDL. They also share the knowledge that they have gained in years of driving. I'm very happy to have chosen this school. Yeah. It gets really hot on the yard pads for maneuvers so bring lots of cold water.

This is a great place to get your training for a CDL. I got mine several year ago and now work for Averitt Express. Go in with a humble heart and shut mouth. They will get you where you need to be.

Worst school ever don't wate waste your time or money. I started with this school in late January for the first week we sat around doing nothing. Second week the truck broke down and they don't know when it will be fixed. I eventually went and got my money back cause every excuse they were giving was unacceptable and i still ended up losing out over 1200 dollars cause i didn't get my full refund. I went to a school in st Louis to get my cdl

You might feel like your not get all that much attention in the first week. Don't worry at all you will get all the time you need to get your Cdl. Every single instructor has 25+ years experience. The instructors are in place to guide and help you from the beginning to end. The school provides a hotel room but you will have a room mate. You can also choose to spend $300 more to have your own room for all three weeks. It's nothing fancy. Just a basic room for resting. Make sure to bring an ice chest and a fold up chair. By the second week I had 8 job offers. This is a 3 week class. They will provide lunch Tuesday and Friday. Hope this help anyone looking for a school. Happy safe trucking to all!!
