In 1922, our current moving and storage company was founded as the Maher Brothers, in Iowa City, which primarily transported consumer goods across the country. Even though we’d yet to become the household movers Des Moines, IA and Davenport, IA customers trust more than any other competitor, our early history taught our founder, Mr. Dennis Maher, the importance of accommodating and transparent customer service.

Amazing service. The move went so well. We filled an entire truck. Our driver Tim was so great and the crews on both end were super efficient, kind and above all treated all of our belongings with care. We did not have anything damaged or chipped. Excellent all around service.
Matt was very polite, friendly and professional and he did an excellent job in ensuring the bench was properly blanket wrapped and ready for transport. Aiden was also very polite and friendly and seemed to be eager to learn what Matt was showing him and explaining to him about the best way to wrap and prepare the bench for transport. I was very impressed with this team!
Friendliness and accessibility are the two qualities I most appreciated in my moving experience with Maher. My agent was very helpful and personable and the movers themselves were quick and professional. The guys who unloaded at my destination were especially friendly, which helped ease the stress involved in the move.
The movers (interstate with intermediate storage-both move out and move in) were really exceptional; timely, polite, professional and went above and beyond. Price a bit on the high side (but even cheaper than others which gave me quotes). Fast, professional and very friendly. Call center and person who gave us the quote also fast and efficient- Not as friendly and polite as the movers (let’s say just not as chill) but still very professional and did their best to accommodate our needs. The quoter actually came in person to supervise and pack our most fragile goods. Would definitely recommend and hire them again.
I used Maher Bros for a move from the Chicago-area to Cedar Rapids / Iowa City- Area. Nate arrived on time with the truck and he and his partner immediately went to work. Inventory stickers were affixed to every item that was going on the truck. They were extremely professional, friendly and efficient. They disassembled my platform beds and neatly wrapped everything up. Tim and his crew delivered my things 4 days later. They too were extremely professional, friendly and efficient. They got the platform beds assembled quickly. All of my furniture arrived without any scratches or dents. They even transported my Vespa scooter.i would use this company for a local move or long-distance move. They were the best!
