Before choosing a specific one, do a good research on different schools. I finished mine in 2021, paid 4100 at that time. There are now a huge number of СDL schools for different budget

The best investment you can make is an investment in yourself. You'll easily make your 5k back in short time. Don't worry so much about the cost; worry more about if trucking is actually something you want to do.

I’m a 21 yo planning to get my Class A CDL soon. Now I’m actively studying different information about schools, comparing prices. Any recommendations on schools? And prices?

I have read a lot of good reviews about Roadmaster Drivers School. I am 20 and just got my drivers license and now going for my cdl permit. Is this school really good or just a good paid advertisement?

Sure! They will definitely teach you all about double clutching, shifting, all of the skills you have to learn, inspecting the vehicle, etc. You need to know all this to get the CDL.

Go to a truck driving school. They teach you pretty much everything you need. Many trucking companies have there own school.

Absolutely! But first, check up the driving schools you may be interested in. Do a good search. Find two or three that are what you like and have a good reputation (double check their reviews ). Don't rush with this!

The most important requirement is having enough money to pay for the course (cause some of them have a crazy price) Truck driving schools will attempt to help you get your commercial drivers license and also attempt to get you your first commercial truck driving job.

Trucking school only teach you the bare minimum of what is required to get the license. Everything else, you must learn on your own. Its up to you, but trucking school is just a waste of time and money for sure.

Unless you go to a college or some private school that lasts for months, any cdl school is going to teach you just enough to pass the test. When I passed my test I had driven truck approximately 1hr and 45 minutes. That's it.

All your skills and knowledge will come from the trucking company that will employ you after you get your CDL. If you want to become a truck driver start researching and applying to trucking companies. Talk to the recruiters and they will help you out with this.

All truck driving school is to teach you the basics. You will learn much more on your first two weeks with a trainer at your first company than you will at CDL School.

Most of these driving schools are just to rob you. 2-4 weeks of teaching is pretty short to teach you a pre-trip, basic driving skills. The real “school” is when you get in a truck with just you and a trainer.

I looked at Google reviews for my CDL school and they were all positive. But i was so dissapointed. Trucks are so f*cking old, i had a chance to drive max 40 min, cause its so crowded. They don't teach you real trucking. Now i am certain that all comments are probably paid.

I just got out of trucking school a few months ago and unfortunately most private schools just exist to teach you to pass the tests. My school taught us the bare minimum of what was required.

Not all CDL schools are the same, some just take your money and barely teach you anything, so be careful of who you choose. I would recommend a technical college instead of a trucking school. Up to you buddy.

Much better to get a private training, one on one. When I finished, I felt very comfortable and confident at least in the driving aspect of the job. Or you can also get it through a carrier who will train you in the job and walk you through the steps to obtain your CDL.

My experience was horrible. Do your research on schools good. Make sure you go to one that trains people to drive and park a truck, not one that guarantees you a CDL

I do not recommend any of them, because honestly they are relatively the same, the only difference is a cost. Huge groups, shitty equipment, impatient instructors, little time for driving.

I would stay away from all cdl schools. They don't care about the students, only about the money. They are not interested to teach you anything. It's worth going somewhere else where you can actually learn to drive a truck.

Any CDL school is only going to teach you to pass the test, usually in 4 or 5 weeks. If you want a quality driving education, look for a program that takes more like 6 months.

I wanna share my experience with cdl school. My instructor was so cool guy, extremely knowledgeable. He was always willing to help or answer questions. All their workers actually care and want you to be a safe professional driver. School also offer weekend classes for those who can’t do mon-fri. Most of the trucks were not so bad, but could be better. Don't forget that you will get all your knowledge and skills later, on the road

I would look for a local community college to see if they offer CDL training. Most of CDL schools sign up as many students as possible and you will be fighting for drive and skills time between 30 students a day over two trucks. You will only learn the minimum enough to pass the test to get your CDL.

I got my CDL in 2023 in MI. Instructors were great, but they didn't have enough trucks for the class size they had. Overall wasn't a bad experience, but still do not recommend any school.

If you are able to pay out of pocket for your cdl I would highly recommend to find a solid cdl school. They will teach you all basic driving skills, you can get all your experience there. Just do a good research for school, check some review videos about the schools.

Try to avoid cdl schools. You are pretty much a number. With so many people on the groups you don’t get much drive time. They pretty much tell you they are only there to show you how to pass the CDL Exam and that’s it.

Find a community college and attend the CDL class there . Most of schools are crazy expensive with no quality education. All their trucks are crap. All they care is just to brainwash you and get your money!

If you want a trucking job fast and don’t want to pay for a school. Any of the big carriers will train you and get you on the road. You will have to stay with them for maybe a year or two.

Going to a school is the FASTEST way to learn to drive, and you will learn how to shift gears, check the truck over, and get at least some practice backing up.

In my opinion trucking schools can be very helpful. They will teach some basic information, how to drive, rules and regulations, what to do, and what not to. And they explain how to drive in very small lanes in traffic, how to reverse, make 8 shape, park, slope driving, etc.

No,no, no! They only teach some basics. From helping you obtain a CDL to basic knowledge of federal safety regulations and fundamentals of pre trip/ post trip inspections.

I hate to say it, but you'll do most of your learning on the road. These schools will barely teach you enough to get your license. They don't give a shit to actually teach you what you're supposed to know.

Most schools are a joke. I went to 160 driving academy and it was terrible. Most of their instructors are so uneducated, and treat you bad. They just gave me some pdf files with information to memorize. Just stay away from them.

My course at school was around 4 weeks, and it was enough to learn everything. They will teach you the basics of shifting, lane positioning and backing, how to make wide turns. They will teach you how to do a pretrip and an air brake check.

If you decide to go, Try at least to find a place that let's you practice backing a lot. Backing is one of those things you only get good at by doing it again and again.

Last week I finished my 3 week training. The groups are too big, so there is too little time for driving. The instructor speak English so bad, constantly ignoring my questions. Never felt so stupid because of wasting that amount of money.

I went to Roadmaster school cause of their review on google. But..I had terrible experience, instructors didn't teach properly, just wanted to go home early, they were impatient and discouraging. CDL school wants money in exchange for passing a test. You learn much more about the profession when you get into a company.

Of course, better yet, I can tell that one of the best things about a trucking career, is that you can enroll in a CDL school at most any time, and start getting a paycheck (although it can be low during training), within a short time.

I'm not sure, because my sis wants to start as a Truck Driver! We start looking for a school, and they want crazy money from people, I don't understand who is ready to pay for it.??? And maybe any other ways to get a CDL without a school? And is this school needed? Any trucker after school goes to training and works till the first year with a trainer. What is the sense of going to a school if you work for a minimum of 6 months with a trainer????
