I can't afford CDL school

I can't afford CDL school

I've been trying to obtain my class A license for over a year now. I have my permit I have completed the ELDT courses and now I'm stuck. I have a family and a full time job and I'm the only one working. I'm having trouble finding grants or financial aid and my permit will expire in about 4 months.

CDL School here

Are there ways to have cdl school paid for?

One thing i can recommend is to join mega carrier, but you will be paying it by working long hours and getting low pay. Also as far as i know, some states may offer a grant for cdl school.

From which state are you? Most states will pay for you to get your CDL check with the unemployment office. Good luck!

Try to contact some companies, big ones will pay for licensing. So if you're really interested in driving truck, don't let that cost get you down. There are ways to get in without money up front.

I actually completed the state program through the workforce development. it will be 100% free all you need to give is your time and effort. Don't give up, lots of places are looking for drivers.

Big carriers, they would pay for training. During that first year, they basically pay you slave wages- that's because you are paying for the training. Nothing is free

I'm interested in truck driving carrier and there seems to be plenty of opportunities available for employment. I'm wondering if anyone is aware of any free CDL training? Thanks!

Dont ever go to big companies, if you want to be their slave for year. Check your local state employment office and see if they have a program to pay for your CDL courses.

Plenty of large trucking companies have their schools, but usually have to work for them for a year because of the contract. Be ready for long hours driving and terrible payment!

I know that, companies like CR England, Schneider, Swift have their own schools so they can pay for your education. But in return, you will have to sign for a contract with them for one or two years.

Dont listen all these recommendations about going to mega carriers. Best option is going to a public school, offered by the county or state. Mosts of schools will just steal your money!

.Look, there are a few options for your situation. 1- go to big company, they will pay everything but you will have to accept their contract. 2- You can check with your local unemployment office. Some offer free training.

If you want to get a CDL for free, there are a few companies that will train you well, for about a year long contract to work for their company. Also most of the time their education is much better than a private school, so it will be much easier to find a better job after your contract.

The easiest way to apply to big carrier, if its ok for you. But i would check colleges, most of them have funding for free CDL. Search more information about college programs.

As others have already said, call the unemployment office and they will usually have programs or may know companies that are willing to give training.

I've checked costs of private schools, and they are crazy. Is anyone familiar with any grants/scholarships whether they’re federal or state that could assist in paying for driving school for a CDL license ?

Have you thought about paid training with a company? Some people hate because of conditions but it can be a good option if you dont have money for private school.

Check local community colleges and schools. You may want to look into WIOA grants if you want to obtain your CDL. And as a last option you can go to carrier for signing contract

If you are fine with 1 year contract, i would say C.R. England is a good decision. Their conditions are not so bad, payment is also acceptable. You can get your cdl and experience and quit after 1 year.

I see tons of CDL A jobs listed daily. Problem is I don't have the money to get my license and can't go that long without income. So my question is... Are the paid training offers legit? Could you recommend a company that you know is reputable?

Dont choose company contract, cause the loan you get from a mega carrier is going to be more than what you would pay out of pocket. Just try to save some money and apply for cheap private school. I am sure you can find around 2000-3000$

Bro, you should check with state and local governments about grants. Also check with the CDL schools. That’s how I got mine. Thats the best options i recommend to.

I had almost same situation. I signed a contract with company for 1 year. I regret it million of times. They were just using me. Don't do same mistake. Go to unemployment office, check with programs they have.

I would look at your local community college and see if they offer the CDL course. Don't make yourself a slave for company for years, cause you will definitely regret it!

Have you tried reaching out to local trucking companies? Some of ‘em might sponsor your CDL training if you agree to drive for them for a while after getting your license.

Roehl Transport pay students $616.00 weekly while attending cdl school. A neighbor of mine went through the program and said the $616.00 a week is the real deal.

See if your current job offers tuition assistance to help pay for it. That's how I got mine, had worked at Amazon for 5 years and they started promoting the CDL course at a local community college and paying 90% of it. This was before they had their own semis and delivery trucks so figure they were just testing stuff out

You have a job. If it’s really that important to you, buckle down, work overtime or a second job, scrape together the money and take the test. You have the hard part done.
