Trucking companies that train CDL drivers - worth it or not?

Trucking companies that train CDL drivers - worth it or not?

Read fresh article here, about trucking companies that train CDL drivers and I wanted to share my thoughts on it. The article lists some of the pros and cons of getting your CDL through a company-sponsored program, and also gives some examples of companies that offer this option.

have to say, I’m not a big fan of company-sponsored training. I think it’s better to go to a reputable private school and get your CDL on your own terms. If you’re short on cash, need a job fast, and don’t mind working for one company for a while, then company-sponsored training might be a good option for you. But if you have some savings, want more control over your career, and value your independence, then private school might be a better choice.

What do you guys think? Have you gone through company-sponsored training or private school? What was your experience like?

Company-sponsored training is a great opportunity for people who want to get into trucking. It’s like getting paid to learn a valuable skill. You just have to do your homework and find a good company that treats you well and pays you fairly

Don’t think it matters much as long as you get your CDL and get on the road. The real training is out there, not in the classroom or the yard. You’ll learn more from your own mistakes and successes than from any school or company. Just do your research, weigh your options, and go for it.

Depends on the company you go with. Some are better than others. I did company-sponsored training with Prime and I had a good experience. They paid for everything, gave me a decent trainer, and offered me a good job after I finished.

+ I went through company-sponsored training with Swift and I regret it. They paid me peanuts, treated me like crap, and micromanaged me to death. I had to stay with them for a year or pay them back thousands of dollars.
