Definitely, but it all depends on the work you get. In my experience it's more challenging to get dedicated local work than it is to run load boards and move around.

Get a small sleeper. You never know when a load worth big money might require a day or two out. Or if local work dries up you'll be screwed. Day cabs suck for sleeping lol.

How much is “decent money” though? Obviously this depends greatly on work put in, good luck with the truck, and work.

We have a guy at the company I drive for who lease purchased his day cab and runs flatbed lumber loads from Fort Worth to somewhere in Arkansas and is home every day, so it’s possible.
