Best CB radio for truckers?

Came across an article on the web that reviews some of the best CB radios for truckers: https://newjobs4you.com/blogs/experience/best-cb-radio-for-truckers/

I’m thinking of getting a new one for my rig, and I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with these models or any other recommendations. I’m looking for something that has good range, clarity, durability, and features. I don’t want to spend a fortune, but I also don’t want to buy a cheap piece of junk that will break down on me.

What do you guys think? Do you agree with the article’s ratings? What CB radio do you use and why? Let me know in the comments. Thanks!

I don’t trust any of these online reviews. They’re all paid by the manufacturers to promote their products. The best way to find a good CB radio is to ask other drivers on the road or at the truck stops. They’ll tell you the real deal. Personally, I use an old Midland 75-822 that I got from a friend. It’s not fancy, but it does the job.

CB radios are outdated, use a smartphone instead. You can use apps like Zello or TruckChat to communicate with other drivers, and you don’t have to worry about interference, static, or regulations.

+I use the Cobra 29 LX and I’m very happy with it. It has a large display, weather alerts, noise reduction, and a lot of channels. It’s easy to install and use, and it’s very reliable. I’ve had it for over a year and it still works great. I think it’s worth the money.

Need help with KeepTruckin ELD device

Hey fellow truckers, I’m having some issues with my KeepTruckin ELD device. I bought it a few months ago after reading this article that praised its features and ease of use:

Hey fellow truckers, I’m having some issues with my KeepTruckin ELD device. I bought it a few months ago after reading this article that praised its features and ease of use: https://newjobs4you.com/blogs/experience/keeptruckin-eld-device/

At first, it seemed to work fine. It connected to my smartphone via Bluetooth and recorded my driving hours, location, speed, and other data. It also synced with the KeepTruckin app and dashboard, where I could view and edit my logs, send messages, and access other features.

But lately, I’ve been experiencing some problems with the device. Sometimes it disconnects from my phone randomly and stops recording my data. Sometimes it freezes or crashes and I have to restart it. Sometimes it shows incorrect or missing information on the app or dashboard. And sometimes it just won’t turn on at all.

I’ve tried contacting the KeepTruckin customer support, but they haven’t been very helpful. They keep telling me to update the device firmware, check the Bluetooth connection, or reset the device. But none of these solutions have worked for me.

Has anyone else had similar issues with the KeepTruckin ELD device? How did you fix them? Is there a way to get a refund or a replacement? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Lease purchase trucking company

I’ve been looking for a good lease purchase trucking company for a while and came across this article here https://newjobs4you.com/blogs/experience/best-lease-purchase-trucking-companies/

and it mentions some of the best companies that offer lease purchase programs. I’m leaning towards Swift Transportation because they offer a lot of flexibility and accessibility for drivers. They have used or new trucks available for lease, dedicated loads, no forced dispatch, and no credit check. Has anyone worked with Swift Transportation or their lease purchase program? How was your experience? What are the pros and cons? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

+ I worked with Swift Transportation for a year and their lease purchase program was decent. The trucks were in good condition and the payments were reasonable. The only downside was that they didn’t have a lot of freight in my area, so I had to drive long distances to get loads. If you live near a major hub, you might have better luck. Overall, I would recommend them if you’re looking for a flexible and accessible lease purchase option.

They lure you in with their low down payment and no credit check, but then they charge you high interest rates and fees. They also have a lot of hidden clauses in their contract that can screw you over.
Denzel
Denzel
04.26.2023
The trucks are decent, but not new or fancy. The payments are affordable, but not cheap. The loads are steady, but not plentiful. The dispatchers are helpful, but not friendly. You get the idea. It’s a middle-of-the-road option that might work for some people
Magnus

They also have a reputation for being unsafe and careless on the road. I’ve seen many Swift drivers cause accidents or get tickets for speeding or violating regulations. You’re better off buying your own truck or working for a company that pays you well and respects you as a driver.

Dealing with Reefer Engine Noise in a Reserved Parking Lot

I parked my trailer in a reserved spot and I’m having trouble sleeping because of the reefer engine noise. I’m considering purchasing a spot in the reserved parking lot and moving my truck to an unpaid spot for the night. Is this an acceptable solution or should I talk to the driver about the noise?

Drivers are well aware of the importance of a well-prepared meal when traveling a long distance. Why settle for a microwave that leaves you with soggy food or lukewarm drinks in an old fridge when you could have all the functionality of a residential kitchen in a quarter of the space? Your truck is your home away from home. These kitchen and refrigerator appliances are designed specifically for the transportation sector and combine energy efficiency with dependable power.

For storing and keeping your food and beverages while traveling as a truck driver, having a dependable and roomy refrigerator is essential.

The refrigerator's size and capacity must be taken into account in order for it to house all of your perishable goods and have room for any more products you may need to keep. Price Price? I don’t have to tell you why this is important.

Here are my fridge top picks

  • Amazon Zero portable Fridge

The ARB refrigerator has a well-deserved reputation for quality, and it can maintain stable temperatures while drawing little power.

The ARB refrigerator also has a practical Bluetooth feature that enables users to check and modify the temperature within the appliance.

  • Amazon Alpicool-Portable Mini Freezer

Refrigerator that can quickly attain freezing temperatures and is portable and light. It boasts an easy-to-use touchpad for temperature adjustment, is very quiet, and has extra storage room in the lid.

Here are my microwave top picks

  • Farberware

When we discuss Farberware, we are referring to large, attractive ovens that produce effective, faultless outcomes. The small and compact size of this oven is a plus.

  • Microwave oven by Panasonic

The best addition to the list of the best truck microwaves is the Panasonic microwave. With regard to its evaluation, it operates at 950 high wattage power. It also has an additional 8.0 cubic foot capacity.

  • Danby Designer

It has an inner volume of 0.7 cubic meters. Ultimately, it enables you to cook or reheat food in large quantities. In the meanwhile, you can use it to save electricity.

The top full truckload carrier in the country is Swift Transportation. In their Linehaul, Refrigerated, Flatbed, Intermodal, Teams, and Dedicated divisions, Swift provides driving positions. Along with those fields, the Swift company also provides careers in operations, shop mechanics, law, human resources, payroll, tax, safety, and more! Freight transportation is what to do for a living.

So getting a job here is great.

Benefits of working for the Swift Company

  • Flexible hours Competitive benefits
  • Healthy leave policy for the year
  • Worker help
  • Competitive policy for parental leave
  • Wellness allowances
  • Robust health insurance
  • Bicycle transportation programs (in some places)

The average annual salary for a Swift in the US is $128,249 as of April 11, 2023. In case you need a quick pay estimator, that comes out to about $61.66 per hour. This amounts to $2,466 every week or $10,687 per month.

But what are the top 10 highest-paying cities for Swift jobs?

I've identified ten cities where the average Swift job compensation is higher than the national average. San Mateo, California, is at the top of the list, followed closely by Daly City, California, and Berkeley, California, in the second and third spots. San Mateo, CA, surpasses the $128,249 average by another $30,494 (23.8%), and Berkeley, CA, surpasses the national average by $28,115 (21.9%).

The average salary in these ten cities is higher than the national average. Therefore, moving in order to progress financially as a Swift seems like a really wise move.

DOT will fine having a faulty ABS???

You need to check your ABS malfunction lamp every time you start your vehicle. If it doesn’t light up or if it stays lit, then something is wrong with your ABS and you need to get it fixed as soon as possible. Otherwise, you could get a violation from the DOT.

03.24.2023
Having a faulty ABS is a serious safety issue and a DOT violation. You should always make sure your ABS is working properly and your malfunction lamp is functioning correctly. The lamp should come on briefly when you turn on the ignition and then go off. If it doesn’t do that, then there is a problem with your ABS or your lamp.
Barney

+ It depends on what type of vehicle you have and when it was manufactured. If you have a hydraulic braked vehicle made after March 1, 1999, or an air braked vehicle made after March 1, 1997 (for truck tractors) or March 1, 1998 (for other vehicles), then you need to have a working ABS and a malfunction lamp that turns on and off when you start the vehicle. If the lamp stays on or doesn’t come on at all, then you have a violation
