Reefer+Hazmat

I’m curious about reefer-haz freight. What kind of commodity is it? No need to name customers. Is it better than dry-haz? I have a tanker endorsement too.

I used to haul reefer-haz for a while. It was mostly food products that had some hazmat ingredients like alcohol, flavorings, additives, etc. It was not bad but it was also not great. You have to watch out for the reefer unit malfunctioning, the seals breaking, the load shifting, etc. And you have to follow all the hazmat rules and placards and inspections and whatnot. I switched to dry-haz and I’m happier now. Less stress and more money.

+ Reefer-haz freight is mostly food products that need to be kept cold and are also flammable or toxic. Things like aerosol whipped cream, frozen meat, or ice cream. It pays more than dry-haz, but it also has more regulations and inspections. You need a reefer unit and a hazmat placard on your trailer. Your tanker endorsement doesn’t matter much for reefer-haz.

I was almost done with my shift at a dock. When they were done, I had 8 minutes left and turned on PC to find a place to park. The first spot was full, so I decided to fill up. Then, because the truck was off and on, the logs switched the status to Driving without me noticing. When I got to a safe place 15 minutes later, I saw what had happened.

My company won’t edit the log and I can’t do it myself. So my question is, what will happen if I get stopped for a random inspection in the next few weeks? A fine, points on my license? Should I stop driving until my company agrees to fix the time? Any suggestions would be very helpful!

When your car is clean and shiny, don't you feel good? You could even think that a well-kept automobile runs better while it's parked in your driveway or rolling down the street. But if you truly want to make your vehicle lovely, you must also take care of the engine.

Every car has to have its engine cleaned. You may find issues that impair the performance of your automobile if you frequently clean the engine. Additionally, you can stop dirt, grime, and other debris from detracting from the beauty of your engine.

But how often should you clean the engine of your car? Actually, how frequently you should clean your car's engine depends largely on where you reside.

Generally, you should strive to clean your automobile engine at least twice a year if you reside in a city or other metropolitan location where there is little to no debris on the roadways. You should clean your engine around every three months if you live in a dry environment where a lot of dust can collect in the engine bay.

Reefer problem

I’m facing a strange issue. The ambient temperature is 29 degrees. I set my reefer to 35 degrees. But the reefer shows that the box temperature is 19 degrees and it keeps running. It’s on heat mode but it doesn’t seem to warm up the box.

I tried to turn it off and on again. I left it off for about 10 minutes. When it came back on, it showed 22 degrees in the box but then dropped to 19 again.

I checked the doors and the box feels much warmer than 19 degrees.

Any suggestions??

Bluetooth Stereo problem in the Cascadia

I have a 5-month-old Cascadia and I use my Pixel 3A to stream music and make calls through the stereo. It works fine most of the time, but sometimes it freezes and crashes the radio. The music keeps playing, but the radio controls and display stop working. The Power button also stops working, so I have to turn off the master battery switch to reset it. I searched for a firmware update or a similar issue online, but I found nothing. Does anyone here know how to fix this?

I'll bet it's not your Android smartphone. My 2019 Cascadia's stock radio may operate for an hour or even a few days, but it constantly locks up, as you described, and the only way to get it to reset and function correctly is to press the battery kill switch. When I brought up the fact that it had been in the shop for unrelated problems, I was informed that it was a factory-caused wiring problem that had supposedly been resolved, but when I talked to other drivers who have the same vehicle and radio at the same terminal, mine still locks up.

Now that my Android phone is connected to the front aux port, I can modify the volume when the steering-wheel volume controls lock up until I get a chance to stop and reset using the battery switch, which is generally when I'm buying gas or taking a break. It is a PITA. Therefore I would appreciate it for someone to chime in with another approach.

You will understand the significance of the instrument cluster if you frequently travel. If you have a Freightliner radio issue, driving is unsafe. It is crucial that you immediately take a look at rectifying this.

A blown fuse should always be the first thing you check for when electrical devices like these stop working. This is particularly true if nothing on the instrument panel is functional. A blown fuse stops all electricity from going where it should.

Even though it seems superfluous and bothersome, this actively guards your equipment against suffering any serious harm should things go wrong. Additionally, replacement fuses are really affordable. Check the fuse box attached to the instrument cluster by going there. This is one of those situations when you should grab your multimeter tool if you have one. Quite a few affordable gadgets are available that work just as well and are simple to use for the same purpose.

To determine if the fuse is intact with this, check both sides of the fuse. You must do this while the electricity is on.

Examine the paperwork that is included with the truck. The ability to remove the radio from the dash often comes with a set of tools. Most likely a fuse on the radio's rear, or you may remove the harness. If not, get a radio puller from Wallyworld.

This is a common problem with freightliner radios, and I think it has something to do with the Qualcomm system interfering with the speaker signal.
