Speak Out Against Autonomous Trucks

Hey y'all, Recently have been reading some staff here, and came across this article about the future of autonomous trucks and I gotta say, I'm not impressed.

Hey y'all, Recently have been reading some staff here, and came across this article about the future of autonomous trucks and I gotta say, I'm not impressed. These tech companies think they can just replace us with some fancy robots and sensors, but they don't know shit about trucking. They don't know how to handle bad weather, traffic jams, road hazards, or mechanical problems. They don't know the joy of driving a big rig across this beautiful country, or the pride of delivering goods that keep our economy running.

Sure, they claim that autonomous trucks will make the roads safer, save fuel, and increase productivity. But at what cost? What about the millions of truck drivers who will lose their jobs and livelihoods? What about the small towns and businesses that depend on truckers for their income and services?

I don't know about you, but I'm not ready to give up my steering wheel to some computer that doesn't care about me or my fellow drivers. I'm not ready to let some Silicon Valley nerds take over our industry and ruin our culture.

What do you think? Are you for or against autonomous trucks?

simple mobile phone - any suggestions?

Hey y'all, I need some help with choosing a mobile phone. I read on this website the article on how to choose a mobile phone and it's got me confused. All I want is a phone that can make calls and send texts. And maybe play some tunes when I'm bored. Is that too much to ask?

So can anyone give me some advice on how to choose a mobile phone? What kind of phone do you use?

Thanks in advance for your help. Keep the shiny side up and the rubber side down. Here is the link to that article: https://newjobs4you.com/blogs/experience/how-to-choose-a-mobile-phone/

I once dropped my iPhone 12 out of the window while driving on the highway. I thought it was gone for good, but then I heard a loud honk behind me. Turns out another trucker saw it and picked it up for me. It was covered in oil and dirt, but it still had a signal. Buy yourself an iPhone 😁

I use a flip phone and it works just fine for me. It’s cheap, durable, and easy to use. It can make calls and send texts, and it has a radio function that lets me play some tunes. It also doubles as a hammer if I need to fix something on my rig. The only downside is that it doesn’t have a camera, but who needs that anyway? I don’t need to take selfies or post pictures of my food online. I’m a trucker, not a teenager.

My thoughts on the best OTR trucking companies

I have to say, I agree with most of their choices. I’ve worked for XPO and Schneider before, and they were both great employers. They paid well, had good benefits, and respected their drivers. I especially liked the flexibility and bonuses that XPO offered. Schneider was also very reliable and supportive, and they helped me get my CDL.

I haven’t worked for Freightech or Old Dominion, but I’ve heard good things about them from other drivers. They seem to have a good reputation and a family-oriented culture. I might consider applying to them in the future if I’m looking for a change.

The only one I’m not too sure about is ABF Freight System. I’ve heard mixed reviews about them, and some of their policies seem a bit outdated. For example, they still use paper logs instead of electronic ones, which can be a hassle. They also have a lot of union issues and strikes, which can affect your pay and job security. I don’t know if they’re worth the risk.

What do you guys think? Have you worked for any of these companies? Do you have any other recommendations for OTR trucking jobs?

I’ve worked for both XPO and Schneider in the past, and I have mixed feelings about them. XPO was good at first, but then they started to cut corners and lower their standards. They started to pay late, reduce benefits, and increase fees. They also had a lot of turnover and management changes, which made things chaotic and stressful. Schneider was better, but they were also very strict and demanding.

Dispatch services for truckers? More like dispatch scams!

this article about dispatch services for truckers and I couldn’t help but laugh at how ridiculous it is. The article claims that dispatch services can help you find the best loads with the highest prices and provide 24/7 support. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it is.

this article about dispatch services for truckers and I couldn’t help but laugh at how ridiculous it is. The article claims that dispatch services can help you find the best loads with the highest prices and provide 24/7 support. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it is.

I have tried several dispatch services in the past and they all turned out to be a waste of money and time. They either booked me cheap loads that barely covered my expenses, or they booked me loads that were too far or too heavy for my truck. They also had no clue about the routes, traffic, weather, or regulations. They would often leave me hanging on the phone or ignore my messages when I needed help or had a problem. And don’t get me started on the paperwork. They would either mess it up or forget to send it to me or the broker.

The bottom line is, dispatch services for truckers are a scam. They are not worth the hassle and the headache. You are better off finding your own loads or working with a reputable broker who has your best interest at heart.

What do you guys think? Have you ever used a dispatch service? How was your experience? Maybe I'm wrong

I agree with you 100%. Dispatch services are a rip-off. I used one for a month and they booked me loads that were either too low or too far. They also charged me hidden fees and commissions that ate up my profits. I ended up firing them and finding my own loads. It’s not easy, but it’s better than paying someone to screw you over.

Looking for a mini fridge for my truck

Hey guys, I’m in the market for a mini fridge to keep in my truck. I want something that can keep my food and drinks cold and fresh, but also doesn’t take up too much space or power. I came across this article that reviews some of the best mini fridges for truck drivers: https://newjobs4you.com/blogs/experience/best-mini-refrigerator/

Has anyone tried any of these models? What are your experiences and recommendations? I’m leaning towards the Whynter FM-45G 45 Quart Portable Refrigerator because it has a large capacity, a freezer compartment, and a low power consumption. But I’m also curious about the Cooluli Mini Fridge Electric Cooler and Warmer because it can switch between cooling and heating modes and it’s very portable. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

How often do you use your mini fridge? If you only use it occasionally or for short trips, you might not need a big or expensive fridge. A cooler or a thermoelectric cooler might be enough for your needs. They are cheaper, lighter, and easier to carry around. They don’t have a compressor or a freezer, so they don’t make noise or use much power.

Fuel Efficiency.

What do you think about this https://newjobs4you.com/blogs/trucking-tips/fuel-efficient-trucks-and-semi-trucks-benefits/

I think this article makes some good points. Fuel efficiency is important for truck drivers because it saves us money and reduces our carbon footprint. I’ve been driving a semi truck with a diesel engine for years and I’ve noticed that it gets better mileage than some of the older models. It also has some features that help with fuel efficiency, like aerodynamic design, low rolling resistance tires, and automatic transmission. I think these are great innovations that make trucking more sustainable and profitable. What do you guys think? Do you drive a fuel efficient truck or semi truck? How do you like it?
