I had a brake-checking incident a few months ago that still makes me laugh. I was driving on the interstate in Texas, minding my own business, when this little car cut me off and slammed on the brakes. I had to swerve to avoid hitting him, and he gave me the finger. I was pissed, but I let it go. A few miles later, I saw him pulled over by a state trooper. Turns out he had a bunch of drugs in his trunk and a warrant for his arrest. Karma is a bitch, huh?

03.18.2023
The best position for a sliding 5th wheel depends on the weight and distribution of your load, as well as the legal limits of your axle weights. You want to balance the weight between your steer, drive, and trailer axles, without overloading any of them.

If I have a light load or a short trailer, I slide my fifth wheel forward to put more weight on my steer axle. If I have a heavy load or a long trailer, I slide it back to put more weight on my drive axles. But I always keep an eye on my weights and adjust accordingly.
Benito

02.26.2023
I usually slide my fifth wheel all the way forward unless I have a heavy load or a long trailer. That way I have more stability and control on the road. But I always check my weights at a scale before I hit the highway.

I don’t have a strong preference, I think both old and new trucks have their pros and cons. It depends on what you need and what you can afford. Knowing how to look and what to wear while selecting work boots will greatly assist you. Work boots provide you with the support you need to complete the task in accordance with

Regulatory, safety, and your own requirements. Work boots come in a variety of styles that are all intended to keep you secure and comfortable on your feet no matter where or how you work. These include waterproof work boots, steel-toe work boots, slip-resistant work boots, and more.

As for me, I recommend the following boots for truckers;

1. Timberland Pro Men’s Titan 6″ Safety-Toe Boots

After being seated for several hours, truck drivers are accustomed to climbing up and down the cabin, which puts a lot of strain on their feet and causes a variety of problems. I adored the Outlast adaptative comfort footbeds in the boots because they provided my joints with the much-needed relaxation they needed after a long day of driving by cushioning my feet with each step.

The PowerFit comfort system, which supported me but also let my feet and knees rest so they could properly regain their energy and prevent any form of pain, was another comfort feature that served as a stress reliever.

2. Keen Utility Men’s Atlanta Cool Steel Toe Work Boots

Have you ever spent the entire day sitting down without being able just to rise and move around? I have. That is why I recommend this one.

That's what most truck drivers experience, so I always suggest comfort features like the EVA midsole and footbed combination found in these Keen Utility boots, which supported my feet and joints and gave them the necessary decompression after a long day of work.

Additionally, these Keen Utility boots have mesh linings, which were crucial for keeping my feet cool, dry, and comfortable even on sweltering summer days!

3. Thorogood Men’s American Heritage 6″ Moc Toe, Maxwear Wedge Boots

Being a truck driver, it's always comforting to learn that your boots will make it easier for you to manage the stress that comes with having to operate the vehicle all day.

I adored these Thorogoods dual-density inserts because they supported my joints, lessened the impact on my knees, and allowed me to drive pain-free.

Additionally, these boots have a cotton drill vamp lining that was quite pleasant and kept my feet dry and cozy thanks to their breathability qualities!

Double clutching all the way, it’s the proper way to shift gears. Floating is risky and illegal, and it can damage your transmission if you mess up. Plus, it’s disrespectful to your truck. Double clutching shows that you care about your equipment and your safety. Just my opinion
Eva Johnson / Customer Support

You've probably heard these terms used to describe the various ways in which a driver with an asynchronous manual transmission can effectively control their clutch and shift gears, whether you're a professional truck driver, a racing enthusiast, or even just a fan of Vin Diesel.

Hearing why individuals believe they should double clutch is intriguing. You cannot shift it into gear by double gripping. Both gear grinding and gear popping out of gear are not prevented by it.

We've spoken about this before, and I'm always amazed by how many people double-clutch, at least occasionally.

I last double-handed on the driving test for my CDL. Sometimes, because of the situation, I had to squeeze the clutch to get it out of gear.

For example, you can't kick the throttle to release the strain in the gears when you're descending a mountain; instead, you must depress the clutch.

If this is your first time moving rigs, this can be more confusing than helpful to you, depending on where you are in the process.

Slipping out of gear:

By applying pressure to the clutch, the gears will experience less stress, making it simpler to shift out of gear. However, if you utilize other techniques to release the gears' pressure, such as blipping the throttle or abruptly releasing the power, then engaging the clutch is not essential.

Setting it in motion:

In order to match the engine speed while shifting out of gear in a big rig gearbox without synchronizers, you must rerelease the clutch in neutral. Applying the clutch first may result in a more forgiving shift, but if your timing is precise, there is no advantage.

Floating gears operate flawlessly when done correctly. No benefit can be derived through double clutching.
