You're supposed to have paper logs as backup in the event that this exact scenario happens. Keep driving and make a note on the paper log that eld stopped working in case you get pulled over and the officer asks why you are using paper logs.

You can get TV if it only provides internet (BTW, Starlink only provides internet) by using the website USTVGO.TV. NBC stations, ESPN, Nat. Geo, and other stations will require you use a VPN or they will not stream to your device.

I run back country roads, local, other trucks still call out cops on the CB. Saved my ass more than a few times. Also how we communicate with the loader operators ( I haul gypsum, sand, rock, ash )

I find they aren't used as much in the west, but much more in the south. I have mine on all the time. It's literally the only way to communicate with another driver aside from a horn.

Smart phones are for talking with people you know. CB radios have a range of 3-20 miles depending on terrain. Useful for road information ahead of you from drivers who were just there, alerts if someone see a problem with your equipment etc…

I’m a crude oil hauler, 10 years now. I’ve never once hauled OTR and never will. I work 55 hours a week, 120k a year (more if I wanna work more), Fridays and Saturdays off, and sleep on my expensive foam mattress in my home every night.

Hauled 13400 gallon big tubes in MI. Rain, snow, ice, fog and any other and weather we were out running. In one year 3 guys were killed, two burned and one crushed. It was a great job but man just zero margin for error

Could always move into dispatch. You already understand the other side. Not really a career path without a degree anymore, but when I was a wildland firefighter with the forest service, a CDL with experience as a hobbyist outdoorsman was enough to get on an engine crew.

I retired too after 44 years. Too many companies have hired so many Boneheads that either receive poor training from the Companies, or they are just too stupid to retain in their heads what the Companies trained them on. Just a sad way to see our industry going down for several years.
