I have been driving OTR for more than a year and I feel very exhausted lately. Sometimes I have to pull over and take naps because I can’t stay awake while driving.
What do you guys do to stay fit while on the road?
I'm not in great shape. Okay, when I'm at home in my apartment in the kitchen, I'm a really healthy guy. On the highway, it's a different story.
I think it is crucial to stay and be healthy while on the road. So what do you need for that?
You only need to make time for it. You DO have time for exercise. Using simple exercises, you can work out in your hotel or hostel room in 20 minutes without any equipment!
Make every effort to go for a walk as frequently as you can. Walking is the best way to discover a city. This is a far better approach to avoid crowds and allows you to experience more of the local culture.
Find a park nearby using Google Maps, then stroll there to work out. If a park doesn't have any exercise equipment, you can perform pull-ups on swing sets or tree branches. Be imaginative!
Include vegetables and protein in your diet! Additionally, you can alter your diet more drastically. Traveling on a plant-based diet while being healthy and active has never been simpler. That doesn't imply you have to stop consuming junk food and inexpensive beverages. But when it comes to health and fitness, your food is the most crucial factor. Don’t eat fast food.
In order to reduce tension and increase my flexibility, I also do yoga and stretches. I consume whole grains, lean meat, dairy, and healthy fats as part of a balanced diet, and I try to avoid salt, fried meals, and sugary drinks.
Do you guys drink Red Bulls ? Or anything to stay up?
Just a simple question that I'm curious about. What is everyone's biggest fear when driving a truck day after day?
Since I'm still a rookie, I have a lot of potentially scary things to look forward to. Since I started solo in early November last year, I was extremely worried about being inexperienced and driving in bad wintery weather, but now that I've experienced it and did fine, my biggest fear day in and day out is a blowout. I know it's probably not a big deal to y'all veterans, but it can happen at any time. I'll probably be cruising down the highway on a beautiful day and I'll hit a pothole I didnt see and hopefully not freak out too bad haha.
I no longer eat anything out of any truck stop, except one. Down in south Texas Stripes has roticery chicken and a fruit bar! The other Truck Stops are a diebetic's nightmare!
How do you manage to go to the gym as OTR drivers ? Any tips are apreciated. Thank you in advance
Would you be ok with your team driver watching videos and other visual programming while they drive?
What are yours? Surely some of y'all have some awesome adventures planned. Tell us about em
A new survey shows that 21% of drivers are walking away from trucking due to "health issues". How do you stay healthy while on the road? Or what can trucking companies do to help its drivers stay healthy?
Many people believe that a healthy lifestyle means constant restrictions and discomfort. There are many ways to be healthy without making drastic changes in your life!
To be healthy, you often just need to eat a balanced diet, get a little exercise in the fresh air, drink more fluids, get 7-8 hours of sleep, and avoid stress.
Drivers spend a lot of time sitting for hours behind the wheel, concentrating on work and trying to drive as many miles as possible, so they often forget about their health. This is even more true for newly minted truck drivers. However, drivers can take some simple steps to improve their physical and mental health during long hauls.
I've noticed many truckers end up with severe back pain or injury over time. Any tips on preventing this as i get into driving?
