Unfortunately, at my previous job, my boss very often kept us at work late and did not even pay for overtime. I quickly burned out and lost all interest in work. Now I work in a small company no more than 35 hours a week ( I dont talk about trucking industry)

Many are simply forced to work more to feed themselves and their families. People sacrifice their health, personal relationships just to earn a couple hundred bucks more.

I have to take on an additional part-time job, because I really need money now. After work, I don’t really have time for myself and my family. I constantly feel tired, I don’t get enough sleep. I hope that I will soon be able to solve my financial problems and return to my normal work schedule.

Many companies, despite the law, force their employees to work more than they are supposed to. As a result, employees are always tired, have no motivation to work, and always burn out.

I have been working in an office with a terrible schedule for about half a year now. I have noticed that it has become difficult for me to concentrate on my work, everything often falls out of my hands, most likely due to fatigue or lack of sleep. The best thing is that I have already managed to save a good amount of money for my daughter's education.

I work in a small store now. My schedule is from 10 to 6, they pay me 21 per hour. This is only enough to pay for basic needs. I have to work part-time at a gas station 3 times a week to earn some extras.

I am thinking about switching careers and getting my CDL but spending time with my family at the moment means a lot to me. Is it unlikely to find jobs that work 40-50 hours a week that pay around 60k+?

I got my cdl two years ago. The first year even working long hours I got very little money, it was barely enough to pay the bills. A couple of months ago I started working for another company, super happy with the salary and the schedule.

I run 20 to 40 hours a week and get paid for a 40 minimum with 4 days off. Don't think I could ever go back to the 60-70 hour work week again. I still remember how tired I was, feeling broken and sleepy every day.

We need to stop accepting that working these long hours is sustainable. It is not normal when people are destroying their bodies working 12-14 hours a day. You people don't have a life outside of work.

I worked dealing with hazmat material for 10 hours a day. Constant traffic jams and other problems on the roads kept me constantly stressed. Coming home all I could do was just eat and go to bed. Because of tiredness I was constantly drinking coffee and energy drinks. I was so exhausted that I didn't want to do anything.

Even if you don't have a husband or wife, kids, etc., it's still not normal to work that much. What's the point of making money if you're stuck in at job for more than half your life?

I have a question for those who work more than 55-60 hours, do you have no social life at all? Don't you want to spend time at home, see friends, etc.? Is money really that much more important than your freedom?

My husband works two different jobs and in total he works more than 65 hours. I see how its killing him, after work he only has enough energy to eat, take a shower, sometimes watch TV. Our relationship has changed so much, as he is always in a bad mood, sometimes even aggressive. I am grateful to him for how much he tries for us, but this cannot last long.

I worked nights for 7 years. I noticed that even if I sleep a lot during the day, at night I feel terribly broken and irritated. The interest to do something for myself completely disappears, I'm ashamed to admit that I had a terrible mess at home because I didn't have energy even for simple cleaning. My social life disappeared as I slept all day. It was a terrible time, but I am grateful to myself and my friends who helped me realize that it shouldn't be like this.

If you have to work 60 hours to survive to earn a couple of extra hundreds, my advice is don't waste your life. Believe me, you can always find a better option, complete courses, gain new skills. Working at this pace will never help solve your money problem.

As a single woman, I worked 60-62 hour weeks for maybe 2 years. I hated it. I never had time to cook, work out, socialize, rest properly, clean the house, do laundry or basically take care of myself. I made good money but honestly the 40-48 hour work week is ideal for me.

I wouldn't recommend that to anybody but things are not easy at all. So if you really need to do it, do it but for a very short time and stop later. It's very important to stop otherwise it might have bad consequences on your health, on your relationships with family and friends.

It also depends on the type of your job. If you work in a factory or place with even a minimal danger to your health, it should be strictly forbidden to work more than 35-40 hours. Due to fatigue, your concentration will decrease significantly and this can lead to serious consequences.

In fact, there are very few companies that value work-life balance. A good boss should always take care of his employees, allow them to have free time and social life. Remember, a healthy and happy employee will always be more effective and productive than one who kills himself all day at work.

The 40 hour work week gives you no personal time at all. By the time you get home, you’re too exhausted from the workday to do anything of value in your leisure time. You’d lucky if you have enough energy to sneak a workout in or do some household duties! To work more than 50 just a slavery
