This too me is the most ridiculous part of the story: 'Caminantes Trucking is still allowed to operate on the road today and is still contracting with the United States Postal Service to carry mail. ' So the driver is going to jail (rightfully so) but the people that sent him out with no license and bad brakes, still can keep operating and are contracted with the USPS no less.

From the article: 'The company that owned the truck involved in this crash has a history of deadly crashes and allowing drivers on the road without valid commercial driver's licenses. Caminantes Trucking is still allowed to operate on the road today and is still contracting with the United States Postal Service to carry mail.' This makes it all the more fucked up!

This is how it goes. Even if they shut that number down they'll just get another. Hopefully the families sue and cause them to go under.

And the accident will likely be used to help push self driving trucks by people who will think it'll magically stop the company from neglecting their equipment.
