The brokers on the Purple and Blue team have been awesome. They demonstrate regularly their knowledge of ten business. They communicate clear explanations to dispatchers and drivers. They are easy to reach via phone and always respond timely to emails. The only disappointing thing is that the rates have been negatively effected in 2024 and have been reduced substantially by Best.

Several years ago this was a great place to work. Moral was high, people were smiling, managers knew how to talk to the drivers. It was a place to be proud of where you worked. Today however things have changed. Moral is down amongst drivers, drivers are miserable because of micromanagement, cameras telling them how to drive. Many veteran drivers have been let go lately because of minor violations on their new camera systems. The joy that could be found in driving once is now gone. What made this company great has now changed, they are turning into every other big trucking company. It is sad, but a few have ruined it. Changes in management have definitely made things worse, especially with the best dedicated floater division. After seeing the last year unfold there's no way I'd get on board with this company. And if I was I'd be jumping ship. Truck driving is changing and not for the better.

After many years of driving and working with brokers, I just wanted to take the time out to thank the team at Best Logistics. Professional, prompt, and courteous. Having Alex and Kristin doing what they do has made the past 6-7 months operating my business so much easier. A big thank you to them and the team at Best! H.Lacy

When I think about my family on the road, I am grateful that Best puts safety first and holds its drivers, dispatchers, and managers accountable. I am proud to work for a people-oriented company that prioritizes the safety of its drivers - and the motorists that encounter them - above anything else.

Typical of crooks from Chicago. They are CROOKS they steal from your detention. I was at pepsi in Jacksonville, FL for 10 hours they pay $60.00 x hour for detention and this broker take half when detention is to the owner operator the whole thing CROOKS. I been a trucker since 1977 and this broker got to be out of buisness. Don't haul loads for this crooks let's all stay together on what this brokers are doing.

Poor wages! Old/unsafe equipment, I could walk the yard and fail inspection on almost every tractor there. When trucks and trailers need repair they are just bandaided. The trailers on my account we're ancient and garbage. There is a huge lack of communication through out the company with many "hire ups" in positions that they are completely unqualified for. They have "pet" employees throughout the company, so watch your back. The benefits package is a joke, health insurance is expensive and you vacation is almost a penalty to use at $150 a day. They don't care about you, your a number and with their CDL School they have constant supply of new drivers to cover the high turn over rate. Get your experience and get out or find another carrier to give you a chance. Walking away from here was the best thing I ever did for my career.

So I recently got another email from this company on indeed being interested in me so I'll leave my response here. Last time I was contacted by best I had a total of 14 hours of my time wasted. From staying away from home that evening on a phone call to going down there on the promise of $27/hr for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shift. So I took the following day off only to go down for an interview where I had to leverage my way into $24 and it was only because I'd be on a service truck traveling down to Georgia and all and being away from home 3 or 4 nights a week. No thanks. Mechanics beware.

Worked for best for 13 years. The dispatchers were great but the pay is what really drove me away. Top pay was 48 cpm and they would not give me anymore. I had to move on. Other than the low pay, my experience with Best was nice. Thank you

What is the best part of working at the company? The workplace is friendly, stress-free, and equipped with decent resources. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Certain locations require long hours without compensation. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Typical of trucking companies—extended hours and low wages. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Long shifts with minimal pay and no health benefits.

I’ve been part of the Kernersville cartage division for just over two months. Unfortunately, some weeks I don’t even manage 40 hours. The trucks are in poor condition, and the pay is unimpressive, starting at $21.50 and maxing out at $24.50 with no overtime wages—all hourly rates remain the same. I can’t speak for other divisions, but I’m actively searching for better opportunities elsewhere; this position simply isn’t worth it.

This is among the least desirable places to work, whether as a driver or in another role. The driving school struggles with profitability, and instructor turnover is exceptionally high. Equipment frequently breaks down, and the use of drivecams to monitor drivers seems intrusive, serving management rather than safety purposes.

Best employs highly skilled drivers, but the trucks are outdated, with some exceeding one million miles. At times, drivers face delays of two to three hours due to insufficient truck availability at accounts.

This position is manageable if you overlook the additional stressors. The pay is lackluster, and some drop-off or pickup locations are either challenging to access or outright inaccessible. The people are generally fantastic, and the mechanics perform admirably. Management is inconsistent—occasionally supportive but often disconnected from the realities of long-distance travel. When my truck or trailer breaks down, the repairs are often temporary fixes. Only in-house mechanics provide lasting solutions, but the trailers are so old that their performance is unpredictable. Being on the road for over two weeks with only two days at home is especially tough, essentially living away from home.

The trucks are aging, ranging from seven to nine years old and have accumulated 700,000 to 1,400,000 miles. Dashboards and gauges are often damaged, and repairs are hard to come by due to overburdened mechanics. Starting pay for new drivers is low, with no raises even after six months of running identical routes as veteran drivers. Slip seating is problematic, requiring drivers to switch trucks frequently, sometimes using unsanitary vehicles left by others during flu season and COVID outbreaks. There’s no clear schedule, so returning home is unpredictable, and workdays vary from six to sixteen hours. Although the job is advertised as home daily, the long hours prevent accomplishing much outside of work.

Everyone understands the trucking industry often offers lower wages. This company’s pay is inadequate for the work’s intensity and type, averaging only 14% of a load. Better opportunities exist elsewhere, offering 20–25%. Salaries have fallen behind inflation. The company was excellent when it was family-run, but those days are long gone.

As a driver, start times are usually consistent. Regional drivers work 12–14 hour days. Management is highly understanding, with the company’s leadership—including the president and vice president—having firsthand experience as dispatchers. They’re empathetic toward drivers’ challenges and cultivate a positive work culture. Long hours are the most demanding aspect, but the camaraderie among drivers and the autonomy management provides make it worthwhile.

As a yard driver for nearly a year, I dealt with constant truck breakdowns. While rentals were eventually provided, we initially had to rely on day cabs.
