Just got back from the most epic road trip with Bulldog Hiway and I'm still reeling from the experience! Took me through some of the most breathtaking landscapes I've ever seen
Bulldog crew was with me every step of the way
Always on time, always professional, and they treat my cargo like it’s their own
Kind of vibe that makes me want to do business with them
The professional drivers and overall efficiency of the company ensure that tasks are completed promptly without hesitation.
Drivers should be aware that this company does not take responsibility for reckless driving incidents, nor do they require drivers to wait for police when accidents occur.
As an independent hauler, I appreciate Tyler and Emerson for consistently securing freight in the lanes I prefer. Hats off to them and Bulldog.
I plan to retire here—I love this company. They feel more like family, always supporting drivers through real-life challenges. I started on August 17, 2020, and plan to retire on August 17, 2040.
This place has unsafe drivers who will intentionally rear end you and then the driver will get out and scream racial obscenities at you in front of your children and threaten you with a gun all while telling the police it was you with the gun even when you weren't armed.
Good place, very polite and helpful workers, highly recommended!
This is our sister company, when my trailer broke down they helped me out in a big way without understanding our set up.Thanks Fred

Excellent
Best trucking company around!!!
A great place to work
From the start, I noticed a clear difference between this company and typical trucking operations. They retain drivers and staff, with many employees staying for over 20 years. Initially, I was concerned about potential hostility toward new hires, but that wasn’t the case. After one month, I was already at the top pay rate and built strong relationships with the training and safety teams, dispatchers, and operations manager simply by showing up on time, avoiding administrative issues, and performing my job well. The pay is excellent compared to the workload, and additional weekend shifts are available at an extra $5 per hour. Their entry-level medical insurance is nearly free, and they offer a generous 401(k) match. Whenever I had concerns, multiple people were available to resolve them. Although some drivers had attitude issues, management took steps to address them. I could have easily retired here, but I had to move due to family circumstances after five months. If I ever return to Charleston, I would rejoin without hesitation. If you’re comfortable working in ports and railyards, this is one of the best places to be.
So far, things are going well. Business has been slow recently, but I’m still maintaining stability. Dispatchers are friendly and helpful—don’t hesitate to ask questions or request additional load details..
Dispatch regularly provides incorrect addresses, making the job stressful. The equipment isn’t adequate, forcing us to make do with what we have. Trucks often lack the necessary chains, binders, and straps to secure loads properly. Safety doesn’t support drivers, and trailers are old, bought from a sister company that had previously retired them. The pay scale is unclear, and management doesn’t disclose what they earn under the floating rate system.
- Best part of working here: Feels like family, good pay, and new equipment—overall a great company. I would have stayed, but I missed spending time with my grandchildren in Florida. - Most stressful aspect: Charleston’s rapid growth has outpaced its highway infrastructure, causing stressful traffic congestion. Other than that, it’s an excellent workplace. - Work environment and culture: The company has a relaxed atmosphere, and most employees are willing to help if you have issues navigating ports. A few individuals may be unapproachable, but you’ll encounter that anywhere. - Typical day: Arrive at 5 AM, receive dispatch instructions, enter and exit the port before traffic escalates, then head to my destination.
The company misleads drivers about available loads, prioritizing their favorites while others sit at home. Despite their assurances, certain drivers are consistently given work while others aren’t. Having been here since 2018, I’ve seen the company decline due to poor management.
Management blames employees for the company’s bad reputation while playing favorites. They deduct pay for mistakes even when drivers have proof of innocence. Records are falsified, unemployment claims are contested, and managers focus on self-preservation. They ignore issues and protect favored employees at the expense of others. The company covers up sexual harassment cases, promotes ineffective workers, and refuses to listen to drivers to resolve problems. Avoid this place.
In my view, this is just another trucking company. Some days are good, some are bad—it’s about what you’d expect anywhere.
I enjoy working here, as the people are great. Meeting new individuals, traveling to different locations, and learning from customers is rewarding.
Fantastic workplace with great colleagues. The pay is reasonable, advancement opportunities exist, and the benefits—including a 401(k)—are solid. I highly recommend Bulldog.
As long as you follow company and DOT regulations, this is an excellent workplace. The benefits are strong, and the team is great.
I disliked making deliveries in certain unsafe areas. Some cities felt dangerous, particularly in the evening, and I was once robbed at gunpoint.
This place feels like home! They genuinely take care of drivers—you’re not just a number here. They’ve got your back, as long as you maintain equipment and put in the work.
