Butler transport Is a good starter company but as for training it went to 220 driving hours most dispators are ok bit you may only get above 2500 miles of you pay your dispatch which I won't do so I get more than that bc I am a trainer who cares about safty most trainers don't. What I don't like is you only have to be with butler for 3 months no matter your experience to train most do it for the money. But over all it is only good for a starter company

This place, the people, are "home" for me. You will be treated fairly here. You'll get to choose your own fuel routing, but that means you'll need to pick prices like you're buying the fuel yourself. Be smart and you'll go far here. As for another reviewer saying you'll be lucky if you get $800/week I beg to differ. Even on partial weeks either coming back from, or starting home time, my paycheck was never under $950, even with me and my daughter's health insurance. My average pay was about $1200/wk after taxes, etc. And that's accounting for the fact that I spent way more than a day home for every week on the road. This isn't just a starter company, stick around, be a safe driver and you won't have anything but good things to say. I've liked (and still do) both dispatchers I've had (Steve you're still number 1), and everyone in the office.

Do not work for this company I work for them for four and a half months and recently was let go for no reason not only me but four other drivers and it would not let me get all my stuff off the truck I don't like talking bad about companies but if you're a minority or new into Trucking do not come for this company they lied to your face and you can stay on the road for 2 months at a time and they still can't get you home on time their backstabbers Liars and the dispatchers are the worst I applaud you stay away from this company there are not good for truck driver only thing good at this company is the good barbecue in Kansas City other than that do not waste your time they blame everything on drivers were the ones but there are the ones at fault most of my laws was on time 90% no 95% of the time and I'll still was not treated right or respect and they still have my stuff at their property I spent over thousands of dollars a load of my truck up to stay out for the summer and now it's they gave me an hour to get off and did not want to even get me home so I applaud you stay away from this company that's why they go through dozens of truck drivers through the week I wish I never came to this company you have been warned

Make sure you get a copy of your employment contract! Don't leave until you get what your legally entitled to. They say they will give it back and never do. Have an attorney review it as most of their policies are against state a federal laws. I worked here for 2 years trained many students which all left to better higher paying companies! Even smaller companies pay better with better benefits and an hourly detention pay so you don't miss out on days of pay. I will never work for these disingenuous unethical pathological liars ever again!! This company has one of the highest turn over rates in the country!!

My good friend, Steve Bond, referred me to Butler Transport. This is the best reference I've ever gotten! Butler is a great family trucking business! I finished their orientation and start driving today, Sept 28, 2019. Use me as a reference! See you on the road! God bless!

This is the best company I've ever worked for. I've read a lot of these awful reviews, but after being with this company since 2016, I refuse to switch. I will be with Butler until the day I come off the road. Yes, every company has its problems, but I have been treated very well by this company in the time that I've spent here. It's a LOT better than simply being no more than a piece of mechanical equipment as many of the other, bigger companies will view you. They know me as a person and I actually feel valued here. There is no other company for me.

This company has many ways to cheat you out of getting paid correctly. The lady in payroll had a very bad attitude and gets off on saving the company money while you lose out on money that’s owed to you. They will tell you whatever to get you in the door and after that will use you as much as possible. They act friendly at first but when it comes to what’s owed to you talk very unprofessional to you. I do not recommend working for this company at all!

My brother got a job driving for them. He messed up and did something he needed to be fired for. They refused to let him get his stuff out of the truck. They told him he could pick it up the next day. When he called to make arrangements their story changed. I’m not saying my brother is perfect, but he just got out of prison after 8 years and what he had in that truck along with my dead grandmothers suitcase which is the only thing he got, it’s ALL gone. Every article of clothing… gone.

Butler is a good start your career company. The only true down side is the pay. You’ll get maybe 1800-2400(if that miles a week. It’s disappointing to be away from your family that your trying to provide for and your not making enough money. Their checks look like a regular 9-5 check if you add up 2 weeks of pay, mind you every Friday is pay day. You’ll be luck to see a $800 check. I made more at my last job, not using my CDL. Detention pay isn’t given from this company and when you ask for layover pay, they’ll send it to you but they’ll take it out of your check without disclosing it with you. My DM wasn’t that good to be honest. The upside about Butler is … What can I say🤷‍♂️ ( It’s a job), the people are nice but you can tell the office gossip with each other, and your not just a number there. My recruiter was truthful I will at least say that. I won’t knock Butler but PLEASE pay your drivers more, you have the money to do so. They are OTR to provide for their families, not stress out about how bad there checks look on🙁 Friday. The loads are pathetic

I worked here for 3 years after having my CDL for over 20 years. While life on the road is never fun, I really enjoyed working here. I left for family issues, but I absolutely miss it here. Literally everyone I came in contact with was great. I miss y'all so very much. I mean that. When I can come back, I will.

A solid place to begin a trucking career, but with no real incentives to stay once experience is gained. Pay is average, benefits aren't as competitive. Layover pay is uncertain and handled on a case-by-case basis.

This company is okay overall. Dispatchers and planners do their job reasonably well. Equipment isn't top-notch, but minor repairs get taken care of at the terminal. Weekly miles average between 2000-2500, with occasional higher loads. Some longer hauls have excessive wait times before delivery. No detention pay. Good for starting out, but I’d recommend looking elsewhere afterward.

I really enjoyed working here. The people were great and generally let me do my job unless I needed assistance. Night dispatch was unpredictable—sometimes responsive, sometimes absent. Miles could have been more steady, but overall not bad. I would still be working here if a family emergency hadn’t required me to take time off.

What’s the best part of working here? There’s absolutely nothing good about Butler Transport. What’s the most stressful aspect of the job? Everything about this company is overwhelming. What’s the company culture like? Disorganized—issues everywhere, from the office to dispatch and planners. What’s a typical workday? Exhausting and frustrating. They’re never ready for anything and avoid paying fairly.

A decent place to start. If you take frequent home time, your earnings won’t be great. The team treats you like family, but miles can be inconsistent. Get your experience here, then make a plan for what’s next—unless you’re completely comfortable here.

I’ve been at Butler for almost six months, but only once received a $1300 paycheck. I can run hard, but they limit my miles, preventing me from reaching top driver status. Starting pay is low—39 cents per mile, plus 13 cents per diem, making it tough to hit the 60,000 miles needed for a raise. The promise of higher pay for longer hauls is misleading. The job isn’t terrible, but transparency about driver benefits was lacking. Good for getting started, but not a long-term career option. Expensive insurance, no 401(k), difficult layover pay, and limited miles. I’ll be leaving soon.

What’s the best part of working here? You must pay for your drug screening upfront, and orientation isn’t paid until you're assigned to a trainer. You receive $114.29 per day, regardless of hours driven in the 160-hour training period. Essentially, you make them money while struggling to survive on the road. What’s the biggest challenge? Spending your entire paycheck on food for the three weeks you're out, leaving little left to support home responsibilities. What’s the workplace culture like? Aggressive—instant hiring without an interview. What’s a typical day like? Working as expected, but constant worry about low pay makes it feel like I’m being exploited for their gain.
