In 1975 was developed CalArk with a foundational concentration on reliability, unity, and client happiness. Through the years, we’ve improved gradually over time, but our commitment to our clients always stays the same. We originally began as a Dry-Van Truckload logistics company covering the lower 48 states and delivering door-to-door service to and from Mexico. We put great emphasis on safe and defensive driving training here at CalArk. We have a company-wide, top-down understanding of and appreciation for the importance of safety and the impact it has on our company, on our industry, and on the motoring public.

Their equipment is sharp as a tack—ain’t nothin’ worse than breakin’ down in the middle of nowhere
When you’re out there on the road, it can get lonely, but with CalArk, you feel like you got a whole crew watchin’ your back
From the moment I signed on, I felt like I was part of somethin’ bigger.
They got great benefits, and the equipment is always in tip-top shape. Plus, they’re big on safety, which is a must when you’re haulin’ freight across the country
Poor Professional Management- District, Regional Area Management and Dock Supervisor. Lie to get you in door ,so you will miss your opportunity with another company. Trucks are always breaking Down ( engine light always on ) , Will not give you raise your Worth. Please Double Think about working for them.
I was recently in Little Rock near one of their terminals. I was looking for a turnaround place and saw their large driveway. I thought they would understand I needed to make a U turn as I'm sure many of their own drivers have experienced. Absolutely not turnaround sign. Wouldn't even consider driving for a company like this.
Lord have mercy, the girl in the shipping/receiving office!!! Going to look for more loads here in the future lol! But about the business, super fast for live load. Was in and out good job.
I’ve fever reviewed for a company before but on my way home today one of your drivers was tailing me my whole way home, flashing lights and honking and road raging. When I pulled into a newly open late they spend passed me and didn’t have a license plate. never used this company so can’t speak on that but felt someone should know
I have been trying to get them to raise for $.60 a mile for the last three years I won’t do it. every other company is $.70 and above/ I don’t know why every other company is giving raises. There are no safety bonuses or holiday pay…, Breakdown page should be higher… I am hoping that management will do something about this, but it’s hard to go over the dispatchers head/and and complain without being a price to pay for it..
I am a current driver for CalArc. My review is about Steven and Sue on the maintenance team at the warehouse location. Both are polite, professional and helpful. I appreciate, more than you know the extended kindness to myself as a newer employee/driver. I also want to acknowledge Tammy who is replacing DeRhonda. Tammy is a wonderful, warm and kind hearted individual and will be a great asset to this company.
They wrongfully fired my husband for no reason at all & he worked for a whole 3 weeks with no issues. The HR department didn’t even know he was fired when he tried to find out why. His reporting manager didn’t know he was up for termination until the start of my husband’s shift at 8PM at night via text! So unprofessional and unorganized, the left hand don’t know what the right hand doing. They sent a bogus termination letter at 4pm the next day via email. No HR rep called him to explain why! Protect your time and do not work for this company especially in NC!! They will hire you saying you have passed the work verification and background check, let you work, & then fire you out of nowhere! We will be suing!!
My time here at CalArk is wonderful only problem is the old truck and trailer. Really good people I’m happy here 😃 …
Terrible warehouse to do business the office staff treats you unpolite Racist on a way the office people on top floor I belive they are the owners of the company or it sure feels that way 👎 really bad service provider 🤦🏻♂️ …
Worked here for 16 years left for 2 1/2 came back in October. I have over 2 million miles here.
Worked for them doing a local job it was pretty sweet I just prefer OTR
Alot better now that I got a new dispatcher. Been with them for six years, plan on staying as long as the good Lord will let me turn 18... Some of these reviews are hilarious though... Other drivers wonder why I keep to myself... 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ …
Its a great company to work for. I never missed a home call and they are flexible with me,Karen is a great DM always on top of me. A con for me is gotta be some old trailers are a pain to work with but at least the mechanic do a good job keeping them in top shape. Trucks come with apu and a inverter been govern at 70 is a huge plus for me compare to other major companies that only let you go 65.
Worked for them back in 92 had someone hit me head on all the safety guy cared about the trk not the driver got fired because of being hit.i hear they are the same don't care anything about the drivers
Fast unloading. They unloaded me before the appointment time. Much appreciated.
I'm wondering if they would take me back had to leave due to my mom's illness, but you can't find a better company to work for guys and gals
Applied to drive here, says no experience needed will train if less than 6 months. I however i have over 2 years experience thats was 7 years ago so recruiter said i would still need training since it couldnt be confirmed. Also claimed the trainer is in des moines IA and probably wouldnt have time to train but would check any way and get back to me either way. Well here i am 2 weeks later calling and trying to figure out whats going on cause i have not heard anything back. Be nice to know, wanted to drive for this company, but now im not sure with how poor cummunication is.
Straightforward work with reliable equipment. Biggest downside: shift times are unpredictable—you only find out two hours prior. Hard to maintain a life outside of work. Some nights start at 8:45 PM, others at 10:45 PM.
I genuinely enjoyed working here. Not sure why I left—had great experiences with CalArk. Overall, a solid company to work for!
If work-life balance is a priority, this may not be the right fit. Upper management seems indifferent, treating employees as mere numbers. Drivers feel like placeholders, with minimal support available.
I don't usually complain, but I believe in getting the job done no matter the difficulty. I worked as an SRT floater from January to August, covering the eastern U.S. for a major auto parts company. The role included using manual pallet jacks and box trucks with liftgates, with all travel and lodging covered—plus $60 per day for meals. The downside: I lost my job over a 1,000+ lb pallet falling off during unloading. Despite repeatedly raising concerns about excessive pallet weight, management ignored our warnings. Ultimately, I was fired for simply trying to do my job. Turnover here is high—they’ll dismiss you for trivial reasons. The company appears to be struggling financially, and bankruptcy may be on the horizon. Proceed with caution!
They severely underpay, making excuses to justify low wages—sometimes only 30 cents. The Tifton warehouse supervisor is unreliable—don't trust what he says. Poor communication, problems never get fixed, and blame always falls on the employees. Good starter job, but definitely not long-term.
Disorganized management, poor leadership, and constant pressure on drivers for the smallest issues. If you're reading this, avoid the hassle—find a union job instead.
Overnight shifts pay just $18 per hour, requiring 10-12 hours of long drives. Low wages, exhausting hours, and inadequate training—this place is far from ideal.
**Best part of working at the company:** Honestly, I can't find one—I’m still employed here. **Most stressful part:** Applied for a daytime role but was assigned to nights. **Work environment and culture:** Unstructured, low pay despite holding a commercial license. Finally got a raise—only 47 cents. **Typical day:** Stressful, though two supervisors are decent.
Enjoyed traveling with all expenses covered—it was a blast! However, management was highly corrupt, frequently demanding last-minute relocations. Zero personal life—plans meant nothing. While money and overtime were great, my position was suddenly eliminated. I was expected to relocate at my own cost and accept a pay cut—unacceptable.
The company has two branches—one handles auto parts exclusively with pallet loads. No electric pallet jacks provided, making unloading difficult. When short-staffed, they force someone to cover without notice due to poor retention.
**Best part of working at the company:** Great experience—family-oriented environment. Loved my time as a professional over-the-road truck driver. One of the best trucking companies I've worked for. 🚛 **Most stressful part:** The company was fine, but some delivery locations were tough. Kept a positive attitude and moved on to the next stop. 😊 **Work environment and culture:** Supportive, diverse workplace. **Typical day:** Every day was different due to over-the-road responsibilities. Occasionally visited the home office in Little Rock, Arkansas.
If you're at the KC DC location, get out fast! Management is constantly monitoring employees. Trucks frequently break down, leaving drivers stranded for hours before a tow arrives—then they still expect you to complete your route. DOT regulations are disregarded, and equipment barely functions. They’ll fire you suddenly, so plan ahead. Only positives: decent pay and overtime, but no personal life.
Laredo Texas yard staff should be running the company instead! Management in Little Rock is absolutely terrible. Avoid this company entirely.
**Best part of working at the company:** Worked here for five years—many employees stayed much longer. Company made me feel like family—fair treatment and solid equipment. Five-star experience. 🌟 **Most stressful part:** Mistakes happen—company errors, shipper mistakes, even my own. Every job has stress; switching companies doesn’t make it disappear. **Work environment and culture:** Kind, supportive, family-friendly atmosphere. **Typical day:** Focus on the task, complete the job, relax, and prepare for the next day.
Straightforward work with good equipment. Biggest downside: shift times are unpredictable, announced only two hours prior. Hard to maintain personal life. Some nights start at 8:45 PM, others at 10:45 PM.
Pay could be improved—requires overtime for a decent paycheck. Equipment isn’t the best. Raises are minimal. Management is okay. Overnight role delivering auto parts to Napa, Monday-Friday.
Needs stronger management—poor training leads to contradictions months later. Management trained me initially, then later claimed I was doing things incorrectly!
**Best part of working at the company:** Shorter workdays. **Most stressful part:** Disorganized operations, low-quality equipment, budget-driven decision-making. **Typical day:** Unload freight at retail locations.
