The best company, hands down, that I have ever worked for. They genuinely care about their employees and treat us like family.
I've worked in the intermodal industry for over 15 yrs and from my experience in working for this organization is that they truly take care of their employees and owner operators like none other.
I cooperated with them for container drayage in Houston Area during my last job. Top notch team. We moved many drop and pick containers to the port with their help and it was a highly satisfying experience.
Great company to lease on to. Unfortunately they canceled my contract. My fault. Maybe I can go back next year.
One of The best company to work for….
Good place to work but the safety Sandra, really bad person.
Awesome place to work.
Great business
800 a week
Canal is a company that is at the forefront of technology. The attention to the drivers is one of the best. The work of the collective is the most coordinated I have ever seen, among so many companies Canal is ahead in organization, the errors are negligible, it can be said that there are no problems that make you waste your time. It has acquired the PIN system for the entrance to the port, which other companies have not considered canal arranges it. The trucks are checked from time to time and a qualified inspector will tell you if your truck has a problem that you were not aware of. Security is excellent. The company handles its loads mainly with its own chassis, which it maintains in good condition. It has security cameras throughout the parking lot. The only point that can be made is the paving of the parking lot, but even so, the good things outweigh that bad part. Nobody is perfect. The management handles everything very well and that makes the staff feel good. Payments are done well, without error as everyone strives to do their job with quality.
Quiet place, good work environment
Excellent attention
Company has extensive driver program very beneficial to owner operators. Awesome hire on package and more.
great company to work...dispatchers r the best direct deposit....and a lot other good things
Pay is good, but no work around to make a good living. If they get more work, they will be a better company. I was sitting in the yard for many hours, waiting for a load.
Canal is a smaller company, but they do a lot for their employees and drivers that you won't see at most other places of scale. While everyday isn't going to be a walk in the park (just like every job in the intermodal business), what you do is seen by management and is rewarded (though maybe not immediately). There are various incentive programs that are significant. They offer remote working as long as the position can support it. The maintenance department is top notch (aka Canal drivers don't sit around for hours a day waiting on equipment repair). The office is newly renovated with plenty of luxuries to make the workday enjoyable. If you have an idea about something to improve Canal, management is open to hearing it. Drivers are paid weekly via direct deposit. The company is paperless, so all dispatches are on a company provided tablet. There are multiple local dispatchers so you never have to worry about personality clashes affecting your money.
They pay the cheapest rates in the container industry. If you’re not in bed with the dispatchers, good luck trying to make money. Insurance is about $177 a week which is way higher than normal. You are 2 weeks in the hole on pay because they hold your money. Also I had issues with not getting paid trips when I was driving local for them. They are always trying to cut rates despite freight charges going through the roof. Terrible company. Avoid at all costs
