The COX Companies were founded in 1982 as a direct result of the implementation of the Motor Carrier Act of 1980, which deregulated the trucking industry. COX Truck Brokerage, Inc. began operations as a logistics services provider to assist shippers and receivers in managing the carrier selection process in order to take full advantage of the changing market conditions that the new deregulated environment produced.
Shortly thereafter, COX Transportation Services, LLC opened its doors as a new common and contract carrier primarily offering “just in time” motor carrier services in truckload quantities between the east and west coasts.

I have been the company for at a month now... I love it... Everybody is so friendly and helpful. I am running teams and we have a GREAT dispatcher named Ken P. Everybody we meet and talk to we try to convenience them to come aboard... Just spoke to two team drivers today who has there own truck to come aboard from Arlington VA ..
Awesome company to work for amazing people from top to bottom. Anytime you have a problem everyone's door is always open also we have new model equipment. Last but not least the the owner Jay is a Great guy to work for I appreciate him and Harold.
They tell you 1 thing then another and your not sure who to believe. They suspect you to know what they are thinking and what they want you to do. They don't communicate with the drivers like they should. If you have a problem with anything good luck getting it straight. It won't get resolved quickly. Some equipment is junk. They won't give you second chances. I bought a trailer to their yard in ashland today and found out I didn't have a job anymore. I recommend to stay far away from cox transportation in ashland va.
Good company to drive for. I worked there almost 2 yrs and learned a lot. Ran pretty much every region I wanted my time there and always reloaded to head back to ashland area. Also no forced dispatch

Arrived to pick up a load going to Illinois. Staff was nice. Wait wasn't too long. There was only 1 dock they were using and it was 3 trucks ahead of me. I waited about 45 mins in their drop yard which is directly across the street then they called me and I was loaded in 15 mins. The only thing I definitely didn't like was they want to see your registration card and make a copy of it and your drivers license. I showed the info on the registration card they needed to see which was the carrier info. I wasnt going to let them write down or make copies of my registration. The lot is a dirt lot so be prepared to clean off your floor. Other than that I was in and out within 2hrs
Ran multiple loads for them. They take care of issues you come into, good people to deal with. They helped out with the long wait facility everyone has posted about, they now leave their trailers at that location and go pick them up and bring the load to their warehouse for quicker load time.
Good place to start for experience. Decent pay & no forced dispatched. Payday is every Friday Trucks are new with equipment installed along with new trailers.

Company is family oriented place to work Team work is absolutely fantastic to get freight moved for their customers. Employees feel like they belong.
absolute great company to work for. Great people great environment. all-around great company to work for great equipment dispatchers are good. All paid miles.
....Great people in the office Equipment was very good And they wanted to help when ever possible Pay was better than average And they give you time off when you wanted it
The trucks are held together by bandaids and always breaking down. Dispatch in the office doesn't communicate with other dispatchers which leads to a lot of dispatching errors. The workplace has a lot of drama. However they are very good and understanding on when you can work as well as time off request. Never been denied a day off when needed. Accomadating for veterans as well.
This company Cox transportation will give you home time every single trip. When you get back to the yard. With good pay. Even if your new. Your welcomein to the the company with highest pay. First starting on a new job. No other company with out years of experience. Will not pay as good as Cox transpiration. It's like a family that sticks together. Drivers been here for years.
5a.m. began time. learn how to work with a flat bed unloading and loading the cargo. hardest part was the hot and cold days. enjoyable part is the end of a work week and pay day.
I didn't bomb this place bc of a few little things but at the time was a big deal. I was fresh out of school they gave me a opportunity, as were based on the city I live in so home time was decent for a new driver so for that I'm grateful. After that petty much if you haven't been there for 10 years or so you scraped from the bottom of the barrel. If .38 a mile is your cup of tea and love waiting on backhauls by all means go right ahead. They come across friendly but butter be ware.
Would retire from the company if I ain't have young kids at home great place to work. Steady freight cool people very flexible. Nice people very understanding
I started this company by driving over the road for 12 months straight to get ahead in the business world both my drivers wouldnt work any where else.
This company is a violation of every labor law. They will hire anyone. Hard to keep drivers. My trainer was involved in a wreck and put a whole bunch of people in the hospital. What a garbage pile of drivers. I am looking for anything to leave this dump.
Delivered Freight on some dedicated routes. All freight was no touch. Local working hours were good. They also had dedicated regional routes.
Need to be able to drive long periods of time. Great way to develop customer service skills. The most enjoyable part of the job is the scenery and the hardest part of the job is getting from point A to point be without incident.
