Dakota Carriers was formed in 1992 by Jim and Brigitte Fowlds. Jim operated the truck and Brigitte dispatched it. By their second year, they had 10–12 staff members and a daily supply from John Morrells and Starmark cabinets. Since then, there has been consistent client and driver expansion. The Fowlds launched the business on the basis of unmatched performance, service, and a customer-friendly attitude.

The bosses are always looking to grow and get better, which keeps things interesting. I’ve worked for a few outfits, but none come close to the family vibe Dakota Carriers has
They are all about push to expand
Rigs are in great well-being, the pay is better than anywhere else, and the people are like brothers. Sure, there are days when the roads are icy and the traffic is backed up, but that's just part of the job
5 sars, just because my needs are met. They take the time to understand my business, and just deliver what I'm asking for (quality)
Is most unprofessional drivers I have ever seen. Would not let traffic over for an accident in Illinois today Is the driver cut several different trucks and cars off driving like a complete moron
Very professional have kept all promises when hired! Super nice people and awesome work environment
My husband has been a driver, well, forever and I have to say this is BY FAR the best company that he has worked for. What I like most is that all the promises that were made when they hired him have been upheld. 5 star company for sure!!!
has to be one of the best companies to deal with in any aspect of the industry and I wont dare go anywhere else
This company don't take responsibility for damages that there trucks do to people's cars was driving on freeway and there semi spat a rock at my windshield and made a quarter size crack in my window and called the company to see if they would make it right and the manager is totally rude. And not professional at all. And rude with no compassion. You would think a human would be willing to help expecially a home bases company out of your main town. I would hope that this company never has something like this happen to them because they would expect the person that was responsible would own up and help fix the issue.
Before I started with Dakota carriers I was a bouncer and when I started with Dakota carriers I was nervous when I started there were offering the all this stuff and had been promised in other places and I would say after the first two weeks it wasn’t a smoke show it was really what they promised good equipment stable miles and they work with you not against you and they actually treat you like family not a number or a warm body in a seat you put the hard work in here and it wont go unrecognized
Great place to work they treat you like family. Nice equipment and great shop and Dispatchers
One of their drivers was trying to merge from the right lane into the left lane In a construction zone and cut off another truck driver in doing so. I called the company a battle and they seem to not care. I have it on video. I told them. I thought the trailer number was 0414. I think it was Actually 9414. It was hard to read the 1st number from the video. If they said they would address it with the driver but how do you know which driver to address it with if you don't have the video and you don't have the proper trailer number to track down the driver.? The driver can always say I didn't do that Even if they track down the driver that was in that area. Be careful if you encounter one of these drivers of this company.
Great company and people very friendly
Well, another year gone by, a GREAT year with Dakota Carriers. Money was well above what I expected, I enjoy working with all the great people at Dakota Carriers. So those that are looking for a good company with great pay and great people, Dakota Carriers is the place for you. Because I’m here til I retire. Out of 36 years of driving, this is the best company I have worked for-Tim Overton-Thank you Dakota Carriers!!
Please watch your driver who is aggressively honking, intentionally trying to run me off of the I-10 freeway in dead stop traffic. He is flipping me off, endangering my life in a vehicle far larger than mine. He is maintaining less than 4-6 feet between him and I. Reckless driver, careless of others lives. Not a way I would like to see a veteran behaving, endangering someone else's young daughter. I hope no one is so careless with your children. Vehicle license plate 42087, #694.
Amazing place to drive for I love it here
Have driven here for 8 years. Best folks I've ever had the pleasure of working with.
Good people to work for, they expect you to do your job safely and professionally. Treat you like a person and listen to what you're saying. Shop guys are on top of things and do a good job.
If u wanna sit out for nothing or work for nothing it's the perfect place to go!!!
I have been a truck driver for 35 years and I have to say that this is by far the best company that I have ever worked for.

Dakota Carriers is a common Carrier trucking company. Thier employees drive fairly nice Volvo and Kenworth trucks. Pretty decent place to work. My wife is one of their over the road drivers.
I've been here for over a year now. This is the most consistent company I've ever worked for. I drive to the East Coast each week, and back to Sioux Falls for a reset. It's a rare occasion that I don't get 3000 miles for the week. Reckon I'll see if I can sit still for a second year.
They do not micromanage the drivers Plenty of loads plenty of work The pay could be just a little bit better in my opinion only. The owner is in the middle of the drivers at all times i'm's big open door policy. I bought my own truck they offered to take me on but I found A little more money elsewhere. If I'm ever in the situation of being a company driver I will definitely go back to work for them.
Dakota Carriers is a great team to be a part of , everyone is a team, life lines are here as needed. Always ready to inspect the trucks as u get back, any repairs they fix it so we don’t sit on the road,(preventive maintenance) I don’t think of it as a job, because I enjoy driving OTR. Been 1year, looking forward to many more with this TEAM!!!
