Now headquartered in Idaho Falls, ID, the company has grown to over 270 trucks and 500 trailers, serving customers across the United States and Western Canada. Doug Andrus Distributing provides employees and their families generous benefits including medical coverage, dental coverage, vision coverage, flexible spending, life insurance, disability insurance, and industry leading 401K. Every employee may elect and create their own custom benefits package based on what their family needs. Solid player. Willin' to invest in their people and their equipment
Tried other companies in the past, but none of 'em compare to Doug Andrus.
Agree, always responsive, always helpful
They had people there who are always ready to offer some advice and help
Honestly I don’t know what to say. I’m not going to tell drivers not to work here because they do have wonderful people who work in the office, their benefits are good, and they treat you like family….until you don’t work for them anymore then you’re nothing. I’ve been a truck driver for 8 years and 7 of those I was working for these guys. Mike stokes is the best dispatcher a driver could ask for he is easy going and he always tries his hardest to meet his drivers needs. Be it getting them home for an event or more miles. Michelle Ramsey up in Human Resources is one of the nicest ladies you can ever meet. And the guys out in shop are just amazing. HOWEVER, multiple times when working for them my appointment times were changed and NO ONE told me. I never got an email, text message, phone call, nothing. Which made me extremely late or extremely early to appointments. Also they pay detention after 2 hours for a driver sitting at a facility they pay 20 dollars a hour. I was at a facility from 8:45am to 5pm. My appointment time was 11am I started collecting detention at 1pm so I should have gotten 4 hours of detention they gave me a half hour. That’s it. I have always been an upstanding driver. If an error was made and I got more money then I was owed I made sure I called payroll immediately so they could fix the mistake and not over pay me. Yet when I raised an issue about the detention pay after I left the company they couldn’t have cared less. So I will say if you’re going to work for this company be prepared to accept the good AND the bad!
Doug Andrus has an amazing team of people who love and care about people. Very family oriented company. Been here going on 3 yrs. I meet people who have been here 20 yrs. Low turn over. A great place to work as company driver or Owner Operator.
I'd just like to say something about one of Doug Angrus drivers. I think her name is Jessica, She was waiting to unload at MACains Foods in Plover WISCONSIN Monday August 12th. She said she and her husband drive team and are enjoying working for Doug Angrus and enjoys being out on the road. We talked about different things and one of the topics was how America has changed,,,, and changed very quickly. I started driving over the road in 1983 and I'm mostly retired now and would never go back full-time O.T.R. for many many reasons. I still drive part-time and keep my CDL and fed med card current. It was enjoyable for me to listen to Jessica talk about what she has experienced out on the road as well. She's very happy where she is right now and had good things to say about Doug Andrus Trucking.
On 02/25/24 at approx 3:30 central time I pulled into the Loves on I-64 @exit 27 to shut down. I saw the only pull thru spot for me to get into as I pull doubles for FedEx Ground. As I came into the parking lot, an Andrus driver was backing into it. There were plenty of other spots to back into, but I am unable to back doubles I hopped out and asked the man if there was any way I could talk him into switching spots. I offered to pay him, buy him dinner, whatever, he declined my offers, said no problem and pulled out of the space for me. I didn't catch a name or truck number as he just pulled out of the Loves and didn't park. I would just like to say thank you to the man for his understanding and generosity and to also commend Andrys for having an upstanding employee as this man. Over 2 decades in the industry and I've watched the brotherhood of the drivers get eroded away. It's good to see kindness between drivers still out there. If someone from Abdrus' office reads this, please find the man from his log records and thank him for me. He deserves to know that it wasn't without gratitude. 🙏
I emailed someone in their recruiting department, then filled out an application 6 days ago. Still no answer. That's all I need to know about that place.
PLEASE SLOW DOWN MOVE OVER
Don't come to a state fair just to show off your little peter, and can't even tell you if he got a 565 or 605 Cummins in it except it's 389x like 33 of 1389. If you don't know you're trucks then you don't know you're drivers.
I transport semi trucks from seller to buyer. Doug's trucks are always clean and ready to the transported to the buyer 👍
Family oriented company, super great people, they always always greet everyone when you walk thru those front doors with a huge smile, I am a driver for this family and I love it I have a answer driver manager who keeps me busy and the load planning crew are just %100 phenomenal, I never complain about any load, good equipment, good miles and the shop crew are awesome 👌, you breakdown they're all over it immediately, I've had my fair share of being broke down in some not so pleasant weather and I was checked on while waiting for help, someone is always answering the phone 24/7/365 days of the year, I'm not leaving this place of comfort anytime soon, I've been down on luck with life multiple times and these people never gave up on me. I'm out of fingers and toes about the positive things with this family 👪 I've known this company since I was just a little boy and I am extremely proud of how much they've grown
Only real issue i have is the truck I'm in keeps having problems. Everything else from the office personnel to the pay to the miles is top notch. These guys took me in after I came from a different company and they really care about their drivers/driver's family. Good quality company that has obviously done something right to still be in business after almost 100 years. A little bit of something for everyone; reefer/dry van, grain hauler, flat bed. If you are looking for a family friendly, high quality, and fair company to drive for, Doug Andrus is definitely a top pick
I just got done with there orientation yesterday. I use to work for them right out of truck driving school. They have definitely changed.... There more relaxed, last time I was they wanted me to do flatbed. I did it for awhile but not this Italian. Flatbed wasn't for me. I told them I wanted to go reefer; but they said it's flatbed or nothing, so I went to Knight. They care about the drivers wants and there needs. It's better environment.
Number 1 best family trucking company to drive for
I was very impressed with this company. They've been in business over 80 years and there staff was excellent.
My parents have worked for this company for years. I have always appreciated how well they are treated.
Doug Andrus Company apparently has no issues to condone their drivers to cheat on their spouses while on long haul and abandan their families which are suffering the consequences and the company even helps the drivers not been served with court papers. That to me is not a family oriented company, shame on you for allowing this.
Terrible company they make promises they can’t keep and also pay very low.
Work here, great place what more can you say, especially great people work here also helping to make it a great job any one looking for work this is the place to stop an check it out you will not regret it
Great place to work! They've been around for over 80 years and really know how to treat their employees and customers. Been with the company for over 6 years now.
They genuinely care about their drivers and strive to accommodate their needs in every way possible. No forced dispatch, top-notch equipment that is meticulously maintained, great dispatchers, and a solid work-life balance.
This is an excellent company to work for—they go above and beyond for their drivers. You set your own schedule, pets and riders are allowed, there's no forced dispatch, and they have dependable dispatchers. The only downside is that they start at 33 CPM, which is about half the national average, which is why I left. Otherwise, it's a good place to gain experience.
Doug Andrus Distributing is a solid company for new CDL graduates. I’d definitely recommend them as a starting point.
Great team and work environment. Well-maintained equipment and minimal micromanagement—you really feel independent. The company is family-oriented, and home time isn’t a hassle. However, the pay could use improvement.
I’ve been here for nearly three years, and I couldn’t be happier. They treat me well, and despite being family-owned, everyone—front desk, safety, dispatch, and shop—treats each other with respect and equality. Hard work and a positive attitude go a long way here.
They put on a good show when recruiting drivers, talking up their company compared to others of similar size. In reality, it's a decent company for getting your first year of experience instead of going to a mega carrier. However, long-term financial stability here is tough. Miles have become scarce, and even when you get a load, they stretch the schedule too much. You'll often sit around waiting, making little money while still being expected to hit monthly mileage targets. Home time takes a hit, and the pay is disappointing compared to local CDL jobs. They promote per diem and other pay structures to make earnings seem better, but other companies offer similar benefits with significantly higher pay. It’s misleading, especially for new drivers. Communication with the office is a mess—you’ll struggle to get answers, and the maintenance team is even worse. Trucks get temporary fixes instead of proper repairs, costing drivers time and money. Overall, they’re more personable than bigger carriers, but don’t buy into the ‘family’ narrative. Use them for experience, then move on to better opportunities. Just remember, these companies need drivers more than drivers need them.
I’ve been with Doug Andrus for about eight months, and it’s a solid company. Newer equipment that’s well maintained, and fleet trucks are washed regularly. The atmosphere is welcoming, and drivers support one another. I’d recommend them in a heartbeat. After nearly two years, I can say Doug Andrus is still a great place. They foster a helpful, inclusive culture, and I plan to stay. Home time has been flexible based on my family’s needs before getting back on the road.
Communication between drivers and dispatch can sometimes be challenging. However, the equipment is excellent, and the mechanics are highly skilled. If you encounter issues, they’ll make sure it’s fixed no matter where you are.
A good option for new CDL graduates looking to get their start. Their equipment is great, and the health benefits are affordable. However, once you’ve gained experience, it’s worth exploring other opportunities. The pay could be better, and drivers are treated as just a number. Frequent unnecessary resets on the road can be frustrating.
They’ll tell you they value their drivers, but reality says otherwise. The moment you make even a minor mistake, they treat you as disposable. If you’re okay with that dynamic, this job may be a fit for you.
Best part of working here? The trucks. Most stressful part? Dispatch prioritizes their own success over driver concerns. Work environment and culture? Not great. A typical day? Morning call from dispatch, another at noon, another at bedtime.
My husband works for this company, and they treat him well. The managers genuinely care about their drivers, but the pay is my biggest concern. If it were just a little higher, I’d consider them the perfect company. Unfortunately, the pay is far too low for this line of work.
They favor older drivers or locals from Idaho. Routes are repetitive, and long-haul driving isn’t truly OTR. The work environment lacks professionalism, and they fail to support drivers when it matters most—whether the issue is big or small. The culture is cliquish, and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
An excellent company to work for! They maintain top-tier equipment and mechanics. If an issue arises, they either fix it promptly or outsource repairs without hesitation. You never have to beg—just ask, and they explain the reason behind any decision rather than dismissing concerns.
This company cares about you only while you’re making them money. If problems arise, they won’t hesitate to place blame on you instead of offering support. Safety is unhelpful, oversize and Hazmat loads don’t come with additional pay, and while dispatch isn’t forced, you’ll still feel pressured to accept loads you don’t want. The pay lags behind industry standards.
Overall, my experience here was fantastic. They treat drivers like family and ensure we stay on the move. The pay could be better since it’s outdated compared to competitors, but they offer the best health insurance package I’ve seen.
Doug Andrus is a great company! Their equipment is well maintained, they genuinely care about employees, and they recognize hard work.
Focused on employees, with easy access to time off, well-maintained equipment, and a strong maintenance team. The work environment fosters teamwork, and I’d recommend them to anyone looking for a driver position.
