Doug Andrus Distributing is a quality-minded company that was organized in 1937 by Doug and Veatrice Andrus during a time when succeeding at anything depended on long and difficult hours of work. The company, which had grown to 6 trucks, was purchased by two of their sons, Doug and Heber, in the mid 70's. These boys were raised with the philosophy that hard work, making smart decisions, and surrounding themselves with quality people could bring success, even in tough times.
The company based in Idaho Falls, ID has grown to its current size of over 270 trucks and 500 trailers, and provides service to customers throughout the United States and Western Canada.

I just got done with there orientation yesterday. I use to work for them right out of truck driving school. They have definitely changed.... There more relaxed, last time I was they wanted me to do flatbed. I did it for awhile but not this Italian. Flatbed wasn't for me. I told them I wanted to go reefer; but they said it's flatbed or nothing, so I went to Knight. They care about the drivers wants and there needs. It's better environment.
Number 1 best family trucking company to drive for
I was very impressed with this company. They've been in business over 80 years and there staff was excellent.
My parents have worked for this company for years. I have always appreciated how well they are treated.
Doug Andrus Company apparently has no issues to condone their drivers to cheat on their spouses while on long haul and abandan their families which are suffering the consequences and the company even helps the drivers not been served with court papers. That to me is not a family oriented company, shame on you for allowing this.
Terrible company they make promises they can’t keep and also pay very low.
Work here, great place what more can you say, especially great people work here also helping to make it a great job any one looking for work this is the place to stop an check it out you will not regret it
Great place to work! They've been around for over 80 years and really know how to treat their employees and customers. Been with the company for over 6 years now.
They really care about their drivers and cater to what you want in every way they can. No force dispatch, great equipment that’s maintained religiously, good dispatchers, and good work life balance.
This is a great company to work for, they treat their drivers like gold and cater to them as much as possible. Your schedule is up to you, they allow pets and riders, no force dispatch, and they have really good dispatchers. Only drawback is that they start at 33cpm which is only about half the national average which is why I left. Otherwise it’s a good place to get some miles under your belt.
Doug andrus distributing is a good company to drive for especially if your just starting out if cdl school. I would recommend doug andrus distributing.
Great environment..great team. Great equipment ...very non micro managerial..Youbfeel like your own Bodmss , and it very family oriented, no troubles getting home time...pay needs to improve though.
I have been there going on three years I could not be happier they treat me so good it is a family owned company but you would not know who is family because they are all so down to earth everyone treats you the same from the front desk to safety to dispatch and the guys in the shop I would never work anywhere else and at this company hard work and a good attitude means the world
They roll out the red carpet for drivers and do a great job with the car salesman routine trying to talk up how great their company is compared to other trucking companies of the same size. In all actuality, they are a decent place to start and grab that first year as opposed to a mega. But beyond that, find something that will better pay and suit your family needs. You will not make good money here. Also, miles are scarce these days, and when you do get a load, they fluff it out. You will be given loads that are able to be run in a day or two tops with a 3-4 day window. So you end up sitting not making any money. Yet, they still expect 10k+ miles per month out of you. So where does that extra time come from? Oh right, your home time! Let not forget the pay is abysmal. There are weeks you will earn fry cook wages for hauling freight away from everything and everyone you love. Do not expect OTR pay here. You will make the same if not less than a local CDL job. They will try to con you into believing that per diem and other methods increase take home pay. And they aren't lying, except other companies offer those same options with much higher pay. It is deceptive and predatory to newer drivers. The office team is a complete circus as far as communication and execution of the basics. You will have an easier time contacting a relative in the afterlife before getting a response from a warm body of interest in the home office. The shop is probably the single worst aspect of the company. All I can say here is just pray you get a truck that doesn't break down. Because those guys love putting bandaids over bulletholes. And you will lose even more time and miles as a result of their unwillingness to perform repairs properly. All in all, they are a bit more approachable than a regular carrier of larger size. But please don't buy into the fantasy they try to sell you about treating drivers like family and that you are more than just a number. Get in, get your experience, then leave for greener pastures. And never forget that these people need you more than you need them. And that the biggest lie in trucking is that "we treat drivers like family" routine. The second you hear that, automatically assume you are dealing with BS artists. Which, btw, Doug Andrus has many. I spent a year chasing the dragon for a steady livable paycheck with this company. And in the end, there were a handful of positive months that I really enjoyed. The rest was stressing about getting paid due to situations that were out of my control.
I have been here about 8 mos. Doug Andrus is a really good company. Equipment is Newer and kept in excellent condition. They was trucks and trailers each day pretty much. Not invidual but fleet that are avail. People are very kind and helpful. They are caring for their drivers. Their is a family feel at this company. It is not us and them. But it really is US. Drivers have good report with each other. Always willing to help each other. Would recommend in a heartbeat. I have been here almost 2 yrs ans still Doug Andrus ROCKS. They are awesome kind and genuine people. There culture is very helpful and inclusive. They are a family. I plan on staying a while. My home time has been whatever my Wife and I needed for tasks we had to complete. Then big Wheels rolling again.
Communications between drivers in dispatchers can be a little difficult sometimes. They do have fantastic equipment and great mechanics! If you ever have problems with the equipment they will get it fixed no matter where you are!
Great place to get a start out of cdl school. Great equipment and cheap health benefits. Once you get enough experience, think about other opportunities. Pay could be alot better and you are definitely just a number here. Also if you like doing unnecessary resets on the road (often) this may be the company for you.
They will tell you they care about you and their drivers but really? They don’t as soon as you mess up in the smallest way they throw you away like yesterdays trash if you can handle that and knowing that this job is perfect for you
What is the best part of working at the company? The trucks What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Dispatch don’t care about drivers out there it about them looking good What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Not very good What is a typical day like for you at the company? Call from dispatch in the mourning call at noon call at bedtime
My husband works for them and they treat him very good. The managers are good people who do care about their driver's. The pay is the only thing I have an issue with. If the pay was even just a little bit better I would say they're the perfect company. The pay is ridiculously low for the type of job.
They only like you if your old or hometown Idaho they like to limit you and only like to go certain places not truly OTR and very repetitive on the same places they like to go very un American and very small minded group of people and honestly unprofessional. They are not in your corner when you need them most don’t matter if it’s big things or small thing there truly not your friend very clicky group of people I highly do not recommend them too anyone
Great company to work for! Top notch equipment and mechanics (never had a problem that they either would not fix or send it out, and PAY what it took to get it fixed). Never had to plead for things just ask, and the company philosophy seems to be (I am not sure if it actually so) but if they could NOT do something you just had to ask WHY and you get told, the reason. Not one of those, because I said so answers but; because I need this.....
This company cares about you only as long as you are making them money, but when the chips are down they will not hesitate to throw you under the bus! Safety especially will do nothing to help and assist you. No additional pay for oversize or Hazmat loads. There is no forced dispatch, but you will be pressured into running loads you don't want to. Pay is terrible compared to other companies
Overall my experience here was amazing. They treat you like family and make sure your moving down the road making that money. Pay could be a little better as they are behind the times on this but they do have the best Health insurance package out of any of the companies I've worked for
Doug Andrews is a wonderful company to work for! They maintain the equipment well, have a genuine concern for their employees, and praise a job well done
Dads is focused on the employees easy to get time off great equipment. Great shop/ maintenance. Team atmosphere. Recommend them to anyone looking for a driver job
