I’d 100% recommend them to anyone in the area
Checks all the boxes for me
I’ve had a few issues with packages getting mixed up in the past, but now everything seems fine
We’ve been working with them for over a decade, and they’ve consistently met our demanding needs. The transparency they provide with tracking and updates is a major plus.
Lied to on several occasions, quit before being dispatched but put quit under dispatch when the truck was parked on their yard and we was on home time, horrible way to treat a truck driver.
I worked here as a driver. I could never recommend working at englander transportation, avoid this place like the plague. Crooked as the day is long
Truckers are very aggressive. The staff to tell them your issue is intensely hostile. You can give them a ton of information and there is still something you are missing. VDoT needs to investigate this place. Enjoy being crazy.
They are straight liars. Said they tried to reach me while I was on hometime but never did . While doing so they decided to not pay me for the week I spent driving.
The company is a great fit for me pick up in the East take it out west . Driving a new 2021 Pete. Dispatch will work with you , home every week for 2 or 3 days. Average 5000 plus miles a week teaming. CPM is a very competitive wage with other companies. All in all I M satisfied
Englander is a great place to work.
Very good company to work for. If you have a problem talk to your disbatch and they will do what they can to fix it and try and make it worth your time.
After five years with Englander I’ve had enough of hearing that the driver comes first. That is false the load comes first and it will not matter how long you have to wait to get it
A total joke! Make all kinds of promises as far as a new tractor, when you arrive, want to put you in a 2016 that was filled with the smell of smoke and used mattresses! What other lies do they have in store!
I worked for them for two years. Their fleet manager Richard is a liar and they accused us of abandoning the truck even though we brought it back to the yard at mountain city I would never work for them again.
Worst company I ever worked for, don't work here. No loads and you're sitting. No miles. And they will put abandon truck on your dac report when you leave. I talked to 7 other drivers that have that now because of them. You been warned ⚠️
Great place to work ive came bk bc I thought the grass was greener on the other side I love working for fleetmaster Express n Englander Transportation best company I've ever worked for I recommend them.
They don’t hire drivers from New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey
Don't get any better than Englander ! Been driving since 86 and when it comes to treating people right, this is the place that you can feel right at home ! Solo or Team/p>

Husband and I are current team drivers. We have been with them for a year and a half. The absolute straight of our experience here has been very positive since the dispatchers have changed a few months ago. Before that, yes it was a rough time, and and the old dispatchers didn't care about getting you home, or doing his job properly. With the new office personnel, things have been much better. Like ANY company, recruiters are going to make promises that dispatch and others aren't aware of, and if you've spent ANY time in this business, you know to take what is said by recruiters with a few grains of salt. Improvements are being made to the point that we stopped shopping for another company to move to. Still needs improvements, but they seem to be happening, pretty happy with this company. Oh, and getting a NEW truck....yeah, takes a bit of time, and seems to go by seniority. We are driving a brand new Pete. Was almost a year before we got it, but in fairness, Peterbilt was behind on their builds due to some recall issues....not really Englander's fault there.
Company was like most. They did try but been driving 18tyrs and never saw so much deception. I liked the driving it was the sitting 24 to 36 hrs or watching favoritism . the dispatchers would literally lie right to your face and i don't care for that. Im not a number and i enjoy being home too.if they could be honest about stuff it would be ok but like most all they care about is filling seats moving their product and screw the driver so my advice to those thinking of going there would be dont
Trucking company that primarily goes out to the west coast and returns with produce.
Good people to work with
Great place to work. They have late model me tractors. New trailers and the staff go above and beyond to ensure all questions are answered.
Had a driver cut me off twice this morning going to 29 towards their terminal. Couldn't get truck number but trailer number was 1934. Also tailgating another truck on the on ramp from 460 to 29. Reckless driver that seemed to be amused by his driving
Don’t go there if you leave before 90 days they charge you almost 900 bucks you sit more than you drive poor communication
Weekly team runs from Virginia to Arizona/California and back are straightforward, but there's a lot of nonsense to handle. They show little consideration for personal life outside work, often using the excuse, "this is trucking, we can't guarantee anything." If you have personal commitments during the week, they suggest taking the week off, ignoring financial responsibilities. Inconsistency is another issue; they often change their instructions and deny previous statements. However, they offer good equipment and consistent weekly miles, ensuring at least $1,200 weekly. I once earned over $1,600 in a week, so the pay is good despite the hassles.
What is the best part of working at the company? Flexible hours and good wages! What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Finding rest stops and securing backhauls. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Excellent equipment and friendly dispatchers. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Driving continuously.
The staff is generally good but can be forgetful. They make amends when mistakes happen. However, solo drivers are often treated poorly and don't receive raises, unlike others.
The company is accommodating with home time and has good dispatchers. They provide well-maintained, newer trucks, good benefits, weekly pay, and quick return dispatch. I enjoyed my time there.
Englander Transportation uses nearly new Peterbilt 579s and some Freightliners, all well-equipped and governed at 72 mph. They focus on team driving, hauling dry freight from the mid-Southeast to the West and back with produce. Dispatchers are friendly, and routes are consistent, typically from Roanoke, VA to AZ, with seasonal trips to California. The main downside is the benefits, but the pay is good.
Great employers who respect your work and offer weekly home time. The only downside is the inconveniently located yards, far from the interstate.
Work-life balance The company and management are ineffective. Pay & benefits Good pay, but long waits for backhauls. Overall The entire company, from the owner to dispatchers and mechanics, is poorly managed. Trucks are not maintained properly, and there's a lot of dishonesty. Expect long waits in California for backhauls.
Good job, but I wasn't fully prepared coming straight from CDL school. Learning through trial and error cost me the job, and the commute was difficult.
My husband and I love working at Englander. We enjoy coast-to-coast trips and still have plenty of time with our grandkids and at home every weekend. Dispatchers treat us like family and go above and beyond. The recruiters are honest and keep their promises.
They deceive you. You spend as much time waiting as driving. Drivers must use a port-o-potty at the terminal after hours. There's no 24-hour dispatch, and breakdowns are treated as inconveniences. They also lie on reports when you leave.
Great company to work for; I only left for better opportunities. Supervisors were excellent, equipment was well-maintained, and there was always freight, ensuring job security.
Team driving from Rustburg, VA to Arizona and California takes about 2.5 days to reach CA, but we often stay there for 1-3 days. The return trips involve multi-stop pickups with long waits at each stop, sometimes totaling 12 hours or more. We usually get home weekly, but the day varies, and we often leave again after 36 hours. This small company has a personal touch; management and dispatchers know you by name and treat drivers respectfully. However, the pay is not the best. Starting at 30 cents per mile, with low detention pay and minimal compensation for overnight stays in CA, the promised $1000 weekly is rarely achieved. After taxes and benefits, take-home pay is between $600-$800 weekly. Another downside is the single terminal in Rustburg, VA. Once, my co-driver and I had to wait in CA for a week due to a consignee's inventory issue. Larger companies might have handled this differently, but this company lacked the resources, so we waited with the load, receiving a motel room and $100 daily pay, which wasn't worth it.
Typical day at work: Continuous driving. I improved my driving skills through experience. Management was somewhat helpful. Workplace was a tractor. The hardest part was dealing with traffic. The most enjoyable part was seeing different parts of the country.
They set unrealistic delivery and pickup times. We often wait 5 hours or more for pickups or deliveries without pay, food, or restrooms. The tight schedules sometimes leave no time for showers for days.
