Their tracking system is next-level!
The emphasis on safety is evident from day one
Working as a maintenance technician at FirstExpress has been a rewarding experience. The company truly understands the importance of keeping our equipment in top-notch condition
They can fire you whenever they want. Thats in orientation they will tell you. You'll find out. Being honest they let me go as if it was nothing. "Not going to drag this out, we're terminating you" that's what I was told.
Truck 1053 on 2-6 i40 in the gorge in the left hand lane which is truck restricted speeding. He was bullying other cars and trucks.
Just like Frosted Flakes...They're Great!
Great place to work family atmosphere and great benefits
Absolutely rude on the phone not professional at all!.
Greg Sasser....true professional..... yeah I remember..
They don't pay enough to keep an ant fed..
Best truck company there is.
I worked there for a year. Left them for family reasons. If I ever have the chance to get back in the industry, they will be the first call. I've worked at a few companies, and this company is the best that I have worked at. Great pay. Great benefits. Great home time. Great working atmosphere. I was never without a load for longer than 30 minutes. This company will keep you rolling.
Nice place to work, 13 yrs and counting. Do your job to the best of your ability, and everything goes smoothly. Modern equipment, friendly management team, and home weekends. Pay scale is competitive !!
These folks do as they say they will do. They take care of the people who drive for them. I've only been with them a short time but my needs have always been met. From Ben, in recruiting, to Sonny in safety. Adam is a great dispatcher. My one lil gripe is they seem to like to micromanage you sometime. But other than that. First Express is way up on the scale.
Micro managing back staping less than truthful drivers are far from being treated well. There are worst company's out there. But this one is definitely not a driver friendly place..
Very professional , treat you right , young dispatchers no one to talk over you cause they have alot of experience, great pay n miles been here over 8 yrs n still going great , and newer trucks and trailer and pretty much great place to work
Nice newer equipment, pay is good. People are nice also
I’ve been here for over 11 years and I’ve had too many good experience to out way any bad one’s great pay easy time off open door what else do you expect
Terrible transportation company. They treat the drivers very bad.
Horrible place micro management, low miles . Never listen to drivers . Threatening. Verbal abuse . Would not recommend to anybody. Stay clear
Didn't return phone calls. I guess they don't need drivers.
Will was so nice. Very polite
11+ years driving for FirstExpress and still the BEST driving job and company I've been apart of over my 25+ years of driving! Excellent pay and benefits, home weekends with my family, great equipment and just a great bunch of guys in the office that treat you like a friend and not a truck number! I would recommend anyone come and just give them a try and see for yourself!
Overall, I had a positive experience with this company. They provided me with a great opportunity to develop my skills as a professional driver and offered fair compensation for my growth.
Communication was poor, and the focus was only on the load, not on the employee. It's not worth the stress. This company expects you to deliver or pick up loads even during storms.
At first, I didn’t think I would enjoy working here. It felt like they were micromanaging. However, I realized they were tracking loads to better serve both customers and drivers. They minimized waiting times by having drivers swap loads, maximizing available hours and increasing pay. My only issue is that I couldn’t have my dog with me.
In orientation, they mentioned getting customers by saying they fire employees quickly, and they do so without cause. They also keep you running on weekends for little pay when you should be at home.
First Express is a good company for drivers who can handle long hours. They offer some flexibility but only to a point. I enjoyed my time there but wanted more home time, and we couldn’t reach a compromise.
The company expects drivers to stick to specific routes. I missed a few doctor’s appointments because they got me in late. I’ve seen the company lose several good accounts, but they maintain their equipment well with regular weekly checks.
It’s a decent company, but they don’t pay for layovers, detention, or anything beyond your regular pay. You’ll often wait for loads, and if you’re let go, you must leave the premises by 5 p.m., even if you live three states away, with no concern for how you’ll get home. The night dispatch is disappointing, though my main dispatcher was usually great. However, I often arrived at loads only to find they weren’t scheduled or had long delays, with no detention pay going to the driver. The company uses zip code-to-zip code miles, so you’ll end up doing unpaid miles. On the plus side, they get you home every weekend, and you typically get two full days off.
I didn’t get enough miles. I could have driven more if they had assigned them to me, but they often took miles away and left me waiting while giving work to someone else.
They impose forced dispatch, routing (often off interstate), fuel stops, and breaks at specific times and places. Management compares driving an 18-wheeler to driving a car, which is frustrating. Mileage pay is up to 20% less than routed miles. Your final two weeks of pay are reduced to minimum wage for on-duty hours only. They’ll instruct you to pull illegal trailers and claim things are legal when they’re not. Despite what they advertise on the trailers, being home every weekend is neither promised nor guaranteed. High turnover rates reflect the reality of this company. Don’t be misled!
