The company has grown a lot since I first started.
Great place to build your future
I recently joined George Hildebrandt as a driver, and so far, it's been a positive experience
I worked here for several years before moving on to a different opportunity. During my time there, I found the company to be supportive and fair
They set a great example for others
Next April marks 5 years with this company. There’s plenty of work, and the people here are great to work for.
On 03/04/2019, I went through an interview, a road test, and then a fix/balance test. I passed everything except one—the backward walk on a 2x4. I’ve been driving for over 35 years with a clean record, yet I couldn’t progress due to failing that test. The company’s focus on safety is commendable, and I genuinely wanted the yard jockey position. I even reached out to the company, asking how walking backward on a 2x4 relates to driving, but no one got back to me. Mr. Hildebrandt, if you’re reading this, please contact me. Your office has my number. I was eager to work with you to support medically ill patients. Hoping to hear from you soon. Thank you, Brian.
I love how the drivers support one another. My boyfriend absolutely enjoys working here.
Feels like family here! The work environment is fantastic. I enjoy traveling to all the great cities in the Northeast. Thanks for providing such fulfilling work. Peace out!
Dependable and locally rooted in Columbia County. A reliable workforce keeps the company going strong.
Most trucking companies don't value their drivers and this is one of the companies that don't value their drivers. They treat drivers as if they're expendable, will terminate an owner ops leases w/o warning as the driver may have livelihood financial responsibilities. The company is suppose to give the owner op 10 notice of termination but doesn't. The owner ops this company favors are the more submissive owner ops. Mainly those who are from other countries. The American based driver doesn't do well financially with companies like this one because they spend what they earn in the USA and the other in foreign countries where they get more bang for the american dollar. This company is run predominantly by arrogant women with bad attitudes that come off condescending. Most but not all of the men staff there follow in the women.Good spirited staff members don't last there unless they are related to the owners of the company. There are dispatchers there by the name of Ginger and Joshua they are TROUBLE MAKERS and grudge holders. Lease on at your own risk American owner op.
I recently reached out to George Hildebrandt trucking for a quote to move equipment from my place in Hillsdale New York to my place in Maine as I’ll be moving try to explain in the situation I was met with such rudeness from an older woman that was answering the phone I tried explaining things she didn’t wanna hear anything. I felt I’d try to give a local company like George, the chance at the business before I put it out to a load board. I guess this is something they wouldn’t be interested in, but the absolute rudeness was uncalled for. It would’ve been a full full load I just asked for a trailer to be left for a couple days so we can load it if anyone drives by their office they’ll see tons of trailers sitting there at any given time again trying to support a local person I won’t make that mistake again. If I could’ve put a -10 star I would’ve
Good place to work.
Had a great time at George Hildebrandt , as an independent. unfortunately my time was up I would recommend this company to anyone just follow the rules and you will be OK. Great family owned business to work for.
Can’t speak on the working conditions, didn’t make it that far,the women recruiter was full of games, lying to me about the hiring process, lol🤣 she could of just been up front and say we are not going to hire you do to you having 4 different jobs in the last year.Very unprofessional. …
Great staff. A family owned business with high regard for customer service and saftey.
Trying to sell them a Kohler generator set.
Best place to work as an independent
Good people.
Flatbed who?
Having worked at GHI for 16 years, I can vouch for their honesty, professionalism, and genuine care for their drivers. The office staff listens and assists with any job-related issues. They prioritize maintaining their equipment. This company is well-managed and works hard to do right by their drivers.
What’s the best part of working here? Don’t bother finding out. They pay 30 cents per mile for 250-mile days, overload you with physical labor, and mislead you about take-home pay in the job ads. It’s like being stuck in the 1950s. What’s the most stressful part? The outdated pay scale. Save yourself the trouble and don’t work here—it’s not worth it.
The pay is awful, and there’s minimal work available. Local jobs mean a single load per day, sometimes working just a few hours. Management only seems to care about themselves.
Avoid this company! They’ll burn you out with various shifts and no pay adjustments. Everything requires tarping or untarping, and the pay is equivalent to minimum wage. The workload, from Qualcomm to tarping, is exhausting. They advertise a sign-on bonus but deduct half of it later. Take my advice—run the other way!
The company accommodates personal needs. I’ve had no issues, though I’ve heard others have faced challenges. Overall, I would recommend working here, especially on an hourly basis.
They claim to value their drivers, but they don’t. They force you into over-the-road work with 55+ hours weekly, spanning first, second, and third shifts. If you refuse, they stop scheduling you, and you’re left struggling. Home time and family needs aren’t priorities—they’re only concerned with profits. It’s a greedy company. Stay away!
Winter seasons slow down, but I stayed busy. I didn’t want over-the-road runs, but the job itself wasn’t bad. The no-touch loads were appreciated. However, the hour-long commute to work every day wasn’t ideal.
