A serious job for responsible professionals. If that’s not you, look elsewhere. Good people, reliable equipment, and new terminals being built. Overall, a solid workplace—no job is perfect.
Dishonest management—pay issues, constant lies, and poor treatment of drivers. Trucks are outdated, slip seating is frequent, and corporate only cares about cutting wages. Expect to work without fair compensation.
Aside from the Tampa Maintenance Manager, the company and its employees are outstanding. Best trucking company I’ve worked for. The Tampa terminal is one of the best.
Glad I spent three years at GTI—my first real trucking job. Earned decent money, traveled widely, and gained experience hauling various products. However, rapid expansion led to a decline in quality. Health insurance is poor, with high deductibles. If you don’t need benefits and want to run hard, you can earn well—especially in team driving.
Just okay. Not enough time to fully assess the pros and cons. Prefer regional work over OTR for better home time.
Work is given to favored drivers. Equipment is decent, but repairs take too long. Driver-facing cameras are always on. Safety bonuses are fine—if you qualify.
Best part of the job? Flexible scheduling and excellent management. Most stressful aspect? Navigating Phoenix traffic. Work environment? Employee-friendly and stable.
Best part of the job? The terminal was in my city. Most stressful aspect? Dispatch plays favorites. Work environment? Decent culture, but dispatch prioritizes certain drivers. Typical day? Picking up and delivering while arguing with dispatch about loads and waiting over a day for assignments.
Top-tier pay, especially for daily home time. Promotes from within before hiring externally. Follow safety policies, and you’ll retire here.
Best part of the job? Groendyke is a great company—safe, professional, and well-maintained equipment. Most stressful aspect? No stress if you follow SOPs, developed over years of experience. Work environment? Independent but supportive—training is thorough, and drivers feel prepared. Typical day? Plan paperwork, pre-trip inspection, load truck, greet customer, unload, post-trip, finalize paperwork. Loads are scheduled five days in advance.
Best part of the job? Strong support from office staff and dispatch. Most stressful aspect? Electronic logging device—always racing against the clock. Work environment? Supportive and improving—management listens to concerns. Typical day? Dispatched on a load—complete the job.
New management is strict and micromanages everything. Truck breakdowns lead to frequent vehicle swaps. Missing work due to illness or PTO requires mandatory makeup shifts. Better to find another company.
Best part of the job? 12-hour shifts for only $144. Pay is low for the workload. Most stressful aspect? Dangerous tasks with inadequate compensation. Work environment? Respectful but stuck in outdated practices.
Great workplace with excellent management and drivers. Only downside is expensive insurance, but otherwise a solid company.
Best part of the job? Not the best option—wouldn’t recommend to a friend. Most stressful aspect? Favoritism and punitive management—pay can be reduced arbitrarily. Work environment? Micromanaged to an extreme. Typical day? Frustrating—low-paying loads while favored drivers get better assignments.
Trucking has seasonal fluctuations. Worked locally, so home every night. Pay was decent but dropped when work slowed. Dispatch, terminal management, shop, and tank wash were all good.
