Not a bad company, they have decent drivers lounges at the terminals with showers. The pay is competitive but not on the high end. They mainly have drop and hook frieght and the miles aren't bad. The SE regional division is pretty good and gets two to three weekends off per month.
Best Trucking Company
This is the worst company my husband of 44 years has ever driven for. The motto is HEARTLAND CARES, it should be HEARTLAND DOESN’T CARE! After all these years of his driving truck I know the difference between a caring company and one that doesn’t. If you are a family man don’t even consider this company. They can’t get him home even with a months notice let alone 2 to 3 weeks notice. I had to drive myself to have surgery because 3 weeks wasn’t enough! You suck Heartland!
Not a very good company to work for I’m just gone give my opinion about the company I was on that South Central Regional and I promise you I didn’t make a check over $700 dollars my checks was $400 to $600 maybe $700 they pay scale sucks they got inverter’s in there trucks but they turned the watts down on them so they don’t put out the voltage you needs to pull your stuff who does that I went through 4 inverter in 5months there bottom line just giving my opinion and my experience when I was there but I would not recommend going to this company but if you decide to your experience might be better than my was I wish you all the best
Heartland recently purchased the company I work for (CFI) and so far they seem to be a good parent company. The people are always helpful and their terminals are always clean!
Stopped in to do laundry, the driver lounge is impressive. A reflection of how a company cares for its drivers.
Hands down the best company I've worked for in the 7, almost 8 years I've been driving. Good pay, good miles, good benefits, home every weekend almost without fail, and they own almost all of their own lots, yards, and facilities (with a few shared yards here and there), and they are NICE facilities and kept clean. Staying here for as long as I can!
Fantastic facility, and very friendly staff. All driver facilities and gym were recently upgraded! Fuel, showers & laundry available here.
Like many large carriers, this company offers low pay and similar conditions. However, I haven’t had trouble finding loads—my dispatch always has one ready before I complete my current delivery. Heartland needs to invest more in its drivers and facilities. The terminals are poorly maintained, with unclean showers and dust-covered filters attracting gnats. They don’t provide basic equipment like microwaves or refrigerators, which should be standard for company drivers. Allowing pets on trucks would also be beneficial, but even service animals with proper documentation are denied. Overall, it’s an okay company to gain experience, but I’d recommend looking elsewhere for better opportunities.
I’ve been with Heartland for over a year. While my truck quality and home time are decent, my overall experience has been disappointing. The pay I was promised during hiring turned out to be significantly lower. I work 12+ hour days back-to-back, often spending time searching for empty trailers to avoid detention fees. Dispatch frequently sends me to multiple locations, adding unnecessary miles and traffic delays. My mileage is consistently off by about 50 miles. Several times a month, I receive loads with incorrect details, and when I call for clarification, I’ve been misled. The company often assigns damaged trailers for drivers to transport and repair. When issues arise, the responsibility falls on the driver. The internal system requires excessive coordination—maintenance requests involve contacting multiple departments, and even simple tasks like getting oil on the road require multiple approvals. Dispatch and planners dislike being questioned, and I’ve encountered daily passive-aggressive behavior.
A typical day as a truck driver starts with inspecting the semi and trailer. Then, I either pick up a load from a shipper or receive one from another driver. The company keeps drivers moving and tries to ensure home time.
What is the best part of working at the company? They don’t micromanage drivers. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Uncertainty about earning enough miles to meet financial goals. If drivers fall short, approval for pay protection ($1,000 per week guaranteed) is at the company’s discretion. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Diverse, with occasional driver appreciation events at terminals, including free meals and prize giveaways. What is a typical day like for you at the company? It depends on freight availability. Every time they acquire another company, they seem to struggle with operations. I moved from Phoenix to Washington, where freight movement is more consistent.
If you want a stable income and work-life balance, this isn’t the right company for you. They provide conflicting information and fail to accommodate personal schedules.
Management is solid, employees are respected, and the equipment and facilities are well-maintained. Overall, a good place to work.
An excellent workplace with good pay, strong support, flexible routes, great dispatchers, modern equipment, and solid health benefits.
They genuinely care about their drivers, ensuring reliable home time and guaranteed pay. Trucks are well-maintained, and terminals offer clean showers and free laundry.
A decent company for new truckers, but they don’t disclose that earnings will be low. Expect long hours waiting for loads. Weekly pay protection is only $600.
