Not a bad company, they have decent drivers lounges at the terminals with showers. The pay is competitive but not on the high end. They mainly have drop and hook frieght and the miles aren't bad. The SE regional division is pretty good and gets two to three weekends off per month.
Best Trucking Company
This is the worst company my husband of 44 years has ever driven for. The motto is HEARTLAND CARES, it should be HEARTLAND DOESN’T CARE! After all these years of his driving truck I know the difference between a caring company and one that doesn’t. If you are a family man don’t even consider this company. They can’t get him home even with a months notice let alone 2 to 3 weeks notice. I had to drive myself to have surgery because 3 weeks wasn’t enough! You suck Heartland!
Not a very good company to work for I’m just gone give my opinion about the company I was on that South Central Regional and I promise you I didn’t make a check over $700 dollars my checks was $400 to $600 maybe $700 they pay scale sucks they got inverter’s in there trucks but they turned the watts down on them so they don’t put out the voltage you needs to pull your stuff who does that I went through 4 inverter in 5months there bottom line just giving my opinion and my experience when I was there but I would not recommend going to this company but if you decide to your experience might be better than my was I wish you all the best
Heartland recently purchased the company I work for (CFI) and so far they seem to be a good parent company. The people are always helpful and their terminals are always clean!
Stopped in to do laundry, the driver lounge is impressive. A reflection of how a company cares for its drivers.
Hands down the best company I've worked for in the 7, almost 8 years I've been driving. Good pay, good miles, good benefits, home every weekend almost without fail, and they own almost all of their own lots, yards, and facilities (with a few shared yards here and there), and they are NICE facilities and kept clean. Staying here for as long as I can!
Fantastic facility, and very friendly staff. All driver facilities and gym were recently upgraded! Fuel, showers & laundry available here.
Like many other mega carriers, they are the same. Low pay and all that. I will say that I have mot been having trouble finding loads, as my dispatch is always having me a load read before I drop the one I am currently on. I will say Heartland needs to invest in its’ drivers and it’s facilities. The facilities are horrible. The showers are not clean and there are nats always flying around in there because don’t dust the filters and lights. Also they don’t provide equipment like microwave and fridge. I feel like as a company driver those things should be provided. They definitely should allow pets on trucks too. I get it can be a liability, but I had a service dog with papers and everything and was still told no. That’s not fair to me at all. Overall it’s an ok company, but I would say get your experience and then look elsewhere for better work.
I haveve been with heartland over a year. Besides the quality of my truck and the regular home time, it's been a less that great experience. The money I was told would be making while getting hired is significantly lower than once i was hired. On a regular week, not only do I work 12+ hour days back to back, the days are filled with hunting for empties, (that way you cant get detention). I'm sent to multiple places, out of the way, through traffic. My mileage is usually off about 50 miles. About two or three times a month, I get loads that the info is all wrong. when I call to get clarification, Iv gotten lied to. When I arrive at the shipper, not only are the details different, they are often shippers that Heartland works with other, and the process is always the same. The rare occasion I have a week where I'm actually driving my time and not getting short loads or finding trailers, I have been spent to get specific loads on damaged trailers the company wants fixed. When something goes wrong, it falls back on the driver. The internal organization is set up for the driver to do more than needed. For example, if I need maintenance done, I have to tell the dm, then call maitenance, then call risk, talk to others who take their time calling and have your sitting around for basic stuff. Another example, Say need oil on the road, I have to call dm, then breakdown, then after hours to finally be able to get the funds. After that there is still a whole process. The planners and dispatch don't like to be questioned. Iv been met with rudeness and passive aggression almost every day.
A typical day as a truck driver, starts with doing a inspection on your Semi and the trailer. than you either pick up a load at a shipper or have someone bring you a load. The company keeps you rolling and tries to get you home on time
What is the best part of working at the company? They don't micro manage you. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Rather you'll have enough miles to earn what your worth by the end of the week. Cause if you do not it is up to them if you are approved for what they call pay protection. with it, it's supposed to be $1000 a week guaranteed. They do not pay enough . What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It is diversitized, and they seem to care about the driver's giving them driver appreciation days at every terminals once a yr. Or more. Free breakfast and or lunch with prizes to win. So that's nice if you get to stop and Be a part of your terminals. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Just depends how the freight is. Every time they buyout another company seems like they struggle with it. Moved from phx area to Washington for a short time, seems up here they have a lot more freight moving.
If you want to have a life of your own and get the pay you deserve this is not for you Get told one thing only to be told another by someone else Are not willing to accommodate to your schedule
