Getting the job done right and on time
Heyl's got our back 🛣️🙌
Heyl's the name you can trust. Their service ain't just prompt
When I need freight moved, I know they're gonna be on it like white on rice
This combination of professional excellence and heartfelt service is what makes them a preferred choice
I drove for Heyl for about 7 months, great company, hard working and honest people. Thanks guys. I hope to go back someday.
I have applied for them , they suck thier recruiter was very rude and they don't care about drivers comfort at all and the are on Facebook every day with too much makeup on
Great small company, they don't start you like a number here.
Great company to work for
My current employer and has been for over 10 years. I have my little dog with me in the truck. Get a new truck every few years. Love that my driver manager likes & remembers me, laughs easily and is very competent. Love that every truck has on-board elog & cameras, gps, satellite radio, apu, big winter rated bunks and that they only go to about 500,000 miles before trade in. Heyl has several shops they own with lots of competent mechanics plus a mechanic you can call if you have mechanical problems during business hours. Heyl is the best employer I’ve ever worked for!
Stupid drivers drive here racing with other trucks dont know how to drive trailer no 24061 05/13/2024
A lot of fun so far, lots of information
My overall experience with heyl was great! Unfortunately I didn't qualify to work for them because of my lengthy work history! Lol I'm only giving them a 4 star and review because at least they called me back! Most companies wouldn't bother
I've worked for this company a few years now, They're good to work with. The facility in Akron is clean with driver amenities such as shower, kitchenette, lounge. This location also has a Heyl specific truck and trailer maintenance shop, and offices.
Been with them for two years, and this is the best company I've worked for. I feel valued and respected as a driver, something that is unfortunately so hard to find. I'm still young in my career, but my current long term goal is to retire here.
I've worked there 15 years. Great place to work. Great people. Plan to retire in a few more years. I drive OTR. Its a great office a new sunrise and sunset everyday.
I left Heyl over two years ago, but it was the best company I've worked long haul for. Texas Regional with some runs to Florida. Great DM, good hometime, and the company would go out of the way to work with you on time off and miles. I would consider returning but my current location isn't a good match.
Have you ever heard of an honest mechanic ? Exactly !!! They're hard to find, and if you find one, then you better keep'em ! Well, that's like Heyl . There an Awesome company ! I've been with them for 8 months . They treat you like family and say what they mean and mean what they say . They don't micromanage you (which is the #1 reason I got into trucking), you get home time when you need(want) it, and everyone is extremely helpful. Don't get me wrong , I do what Im supposed to do, but I couldn't be happier !! One of the few times in my life I can say I Love what I do .
I purchased a fleet truck from Heyl, and I cannot say how satisfied of a decision it was. They made sure everything was in working order, and even helped me with an issue I had after purchasing. Top notch company! I will be buying more trucks in the future! Thanks everyone at Heyl!.
Heyl should be very proud of a woman truck driver they have, I don't know her name but I see her every day at Altoona or Osceola dropping and hooking. She is the most safety conscious driver I've ever seen making every mundane switches, never a short cut used. So good to see from a larger company.
Nice driver's lounge, laundry and shower facilities. The only thing missing is a dog park, so the drivers' dogs can run around.
Just started 2 weeks ago with Heyl and love the atmosphere. It really seems like one big family! Love working here!
I'm a company driver now for over a year. This is the best trucking company I've ever worked for. Family oriented and treats us drivers right. Great great company to work for.
Excellent fleet management. Friendly, knowledgeable mechanics. When I returned home for my father’s funeral, my fleet manager sent a thoughtful card—totally unexpected. Great people in Akron, IA.
What is the best part of working at Heyl Truck Lines? There isn’t one. This place is terrible—dirty trucks with disgusting seats and unknown stains everywhere. I checked with a black light and the truck was a health hazard, with dried blood and other substances in the sleeper. Ended up with a staph infection, but management didn’t care. They’ll get you home for medical appointments, but not for follow-ups. I missed one and my dentist took half my paycheck. They claim to be by-the-book, but if FMCSA ever audited them, they’d be shut down. What is the most stressful part about working at Heyl Truck Lines? They are family-oriented—but not your family. It’s a company for drivers who fit a rigid mold, and they do everything possible to add stress to your job. Then you have to drive an 80,000 lb truck under pressure. Their scheduling is inefficient—appointments clash with driving hours, stretching a 4-day trip into seven. I didn’t return to OTR to lose money.
Not enough miles per week. Too much time spent loading and unloading with minimal pay. This severely limits weekly earnings.
Uncertainty is the hardest part—never knowing what to expect day to day. Hoping to stay long enough to retire here.
Solid company with good miles. Rare to find steady outbound freight from Florida. All refrigerated loads, mostly juice and frozen meat.
Leadership is questionable. Safety is decent, but dispatchers are unhelpful. Equipment is good, miles are moderate, and maintenance is fair.
What is the best part of working at the company? Not much. Home time is unpredictable—based on your hours, including recap time. Right now, sitting with a load in Acadia, FL for tomorrow’s delivery, with my clock at 62:20. Will deliver, pick up in Bradenton, and drop in Zephyrhills, then take a 34-hour reset before starting again. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Drop and hook isn’t the issue—live loads waste hours. If you don’t manage time well, you’ll struggle. Spent five hours just getting paperwork done in Dunn, NC. Avoid Food Lion. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Decent. Many experienced, courteous drivers, but overall just an okay place. A pay raise would improve things. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Driving state to state, resting, and ensuring deliveries are on time—that’s their top priority.
So far, everything looks good. People seem professional and trustworthy. The trucks are nice, staying busy is a plus. Hoping to retire here.
Overall, a solid company. They keep drivers busy, and the work is steady. Wishing I’d started here 30 years ago. Planning to retire at 70, in about four years.
Home time is available when necessary but not too frequently. Pay is decent, and communication is easy. Equipment is new and reliable—no breakdowns. Only wish the destinations paid better.
Low pay and broken promises. Too much time spent on live loading and unloading. Management lacks professionalism. Trucks have inward-facing cameras.
What is the best part of working at the company? Once training is over, the equipment is decent. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? No communication between departments or with drivers. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Some good days, but mostly toxic. What is a typical day like for you at the company? They only reach out when something goes wrong.
Always busy—rarely sitting idle. Plenty of loads available. They stick to home time promises. Little micromanagement. Good equipment, and issues are quickly addressed.
Good miles, decent pay, flexible hours. Allows for night or day driving. Plenty of time for on-time deliveries. Can run constantly or take home time weekly or monthly.
Trucks and routes are acceptable. Pay is the bare minimum. My first trip was dispatched late, but when I arrived 30 minutes past the deadline, I got questioned about it. Most trips come with excessive time allowances.
