I drove for Heyl for about 7 months, great company, hard working and honest people. Thanks guys. I hope to go back someday.
I have applied for them , they suck thier recruiter was very rude and they don't care about drivers comfort at all and the are on Facebook every day with too much makeup on
Great small company, they don't start you like a number here.
Great company to work for
My current employer and has been for over 10 years. I have my little dog with me in the truck. Get a new truck every few years. Love that my driver manager likes & remembers me, laughs easily and is very competent. Love that every truck has on-board elog & cameras, gps, satellite radio, apu, big winter rated bunks and that they only go to about 500,000 miles before trade in. Heyl has several shops they own with lots of competent mechanics plus a mechanic you can call if you have mechanical problems during business hours. Heyl is the best employer I’ve ever worked for!
Stupid drivers drive here racing with other trucks dont know how to drive trailer no 24061 05/13/2024
A lot of fun so far, lots of information
My overall experience with heyl was great! Unfortunately I didn't qualify to work for them because of my lengthy work history! Lol I'm only giving them a 4 star and review because at least they called me back! Most companies wouldn't bother
I've worked for this company a few years now, They're good to work with. The facility in Akron is clean with driver amenities such as shower, kitchenette, lounge. This location also has a Heyl specific truck and trailer maintenance shop, and offices.
Been with them for two years, and this is the best company I've worked for. I feel valued and respected as a driver, something that is unfortunately so hard to find. I'm still young in my career, but my current long term goal is to retire here.
I've worked there 15 years. Great place to work. Great people. Plan to retire in a few more years. I drive OTR. Its a great office a new sunrise and sunset everyday.
I left Heyl over two years ago, but it was the best company I've worked long haul for. Texas Regional with some runs to Florida. Great DM, good hometime, and the company would go out of the way to work with you on time off and miles. I would consider returning but my current location isn't a good match.
Have you ever heard of an honest mechanic ? Exactly !!! They're hard to find, and if you find one, then you better keep'em ! Well, that's like Heyl . There an Awesome company ! I've been with them for 8 months . They treat you like family and say what they mean and mean what they say . They don't micromanage you (which is the #1 reason I got into trucking), you get home time when you need(want) it, and everyone is extremely helpful. Don't get me wrong , I do what Im supposed to do, but I couldn't be happier !! One of the few times in my life I can say I Love what I do .
I purchased a fleet truck from Heyl, and I cannot say how satisfied of a decision it was. They made sure everything was in working order, and even helped me with an issue I had after purchasing. Top notch company! I will be buying more trucks in the future! Thanks everyone at Heyl!.
Heyl should be very proud of a woman truck driver they have, I don't know her name but I see her every day at Altoona or Osceola dropping and hooking. She is the most safety conscious driver I've ever seen making every mundane switches, never a short cut used. So good to see from a larger company.
Nice driver's lounge, laundry and shower facilities. The only thing missing is a dog park, so the drivers' dogs can run around.
Just started 2 weeks ago with Heyl and love the atmosphere. It really seems like one big family! Love working here!
I'm a company driver now for over a year. This is the best trucking company I've ever worked for. Family oriented and treats us drivers right. Great great company to work for.
Very good fleet manager. Mechanics friendly and informative. When I went home for my father's funeral there was a nice card from my fleet manager. That wasn't expected. Cool people in Akron, IA
What is the best part of working at Heyl Truck Lines? There is no best anything. It sucks.. filthy trucks nasty seats. Nasty dna all over sleeper. I went and Got a black light. This truck is a biohazard. With dried blood and dried something else all over the sleeper.. I went to doctor for a sore on the back of my legs and its a staph infection..told them they said nothing and replaced seat with another no so nasty one. Wtf. They get you home for dr appts dentist appts. But then don't get you home for follow ups. My dentist just took an amount equal to half my paycheck for missing an appt. told them they dont care. They pride themselves on being letter perfect and by the book. If the fmcsa ever audited them. Bye bye What is the most stressful part about working at Heyl Truck Lines? Family driven. Just not your family. It seems they could care less about your family. Its clearly a company for the cookie cutter round peg in round hole type of driver. Everything that they can stress you out about it seems they do. Then go drive 80k lb truck stressed out with the motoring public. Their appointments are always opposite you running hours. You will take seven days to complete 4 days of driving. Because whoever sets appontments is playing it safe 400-500 mpd i didnt come back to otr to not make money.
Not getting enough miles per week. Spending too much time getting loaded and unloaded with very little compensation. This limits the load you get per week.
Trying to find out more information about the company that all the hardest part is not knowing one day to the next . I hope to stay here so that I can retire here.
Good company to work for. Has good miles and good outgoing freight from Florida which is rare. All refrigerated loads, usually juice products or frozen meat.
Top down. COO and CEO are half baked. Safety is good. Dispatchers are a waste of space. Good equipment. Moderate miles. Pretty good maintenance.
What is the best part of working at the company? None for me my home time it's when ever your clock finish including your recap hours I'm sitting with a load now in Acadia FL for tomorrow delivery and my clock it's at 62:20 so I will do my best to deliver this and pick another one in Bradenton to be delivered to Zephyrhills tomorrow when ever I get there and then I do 34 hours break and go again. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The drop and hook it's not even the problem it's the live loads time consuming for a driver now days if u don't know how to manage your time you'll be in trouble I spent 5 hours just to get my paperwork done in Dunn NC food Lion it's a no no What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It's fine most of the drivers are experienced and courteous some of them but overall the company is ok maybe if they pay a Lil more will make a difference What is a typical day like for you at the company? Driving from state to state and taking my rest and delivery on time that's what it matters to them
Everything cool so far. Everyone seems to be on the up and up so far. Nice trucks. Staying busy which is great. Planning on staying here until I retire
Over all this is a good co. To work for. They keep us busy and that’s good and they are good to work for. I’m just wishing that I could have started with them 30 years earlier. But I intend to retire when I turn 70 and that’s in about 4 more years.
Can get home when needed as long as it’s not all the time. Decent pay and easy to talk to. Equipment is all new and doesn’t breakdown. Only wish destination was higher paying.
The pay is low and the promises never happen. You spend alot of time doing live loading and unloading. Management is very unprofessional. They have inside facing cameras in their trucks.
What is the best part of working at the company? Ince.you get past training, equipment is nice What is the most stressful part about working at the company? There is zero communication between departments and with drivers What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Some days are good, but far ands few from toxic days What is a typical day like for you at the company? The only time they communicate with drivers is when there is something wrong
Keep you busy rarely ever sit. Plent of loads. They good at getting home on time. Not much on micromanagement equipment are in good shape if you any have any issues they are willing to help you.
Good miles good pay let’s you run nights or days gives you plenty of time to get load delivered on time won’t send you home can run as mush as you want or be home every week or once a month
Decent trucks. Decent routes. Pay is the least they can get away with. My first trip with them was dispatched late, according to my dispatcher when he gave it to me. When I was 30 minutes late he asked me to explain why. After that, most trips had too much time on them.
