This company does not accept responsibility for their actions. Monday July 1st 2024 I was traveling through Wilkinson county. A Howard Sheppard truck was traveling towards me going well above the speed limit. Truck number 2581 came around a slight curve and I saw a golf ball size of kaolin come from the top rails on his trailer and busted my windshield the driver wouldn't stay at the accident. The supervisor that showed up was friendly and respectful and understood my frustration he put me in contact with the sandersville office and I talked to a guy Jamie that was supposed to handle the "situation" I told him what happened and that I made a police report he responded that he was going to do some digging to figure out what happened I didn't hear from him for two days I had to call him back and he told me he reviewed the footage and claimed their was rocks in the road the driver hit I stated again I watched the kaolin come from the top of his truck and i have pictures of the chalk on the broken windshield and I sent him pictures of that I still have not heard back from him about the situation almost a week ago. The Howard Sheppard trucks hauling kaolin do not use the cover to cover their load while in transportation.
Best company ever for once u are recognized by your name not a number...
Nice family owned business. Everyone here is so nice and treats you like family. Good place to work.

I have been employed at Howard Sheppard since 2015 and plan to stick around until retirement. With options ranging from dump truck, tanker, and container divisions you have an unlimited supply of opportunities. Whether you are a rookie looking for experience, or a veteran driver seeking to advance your career, Howard Sheppard is the place to be. The business is family run and puts family first when it comes to their drivers. They have excellent benefits and competitive pay with increasing percentages based on longevity. Come and join our team, you won't regret it.
I don't drive for them but I loaded at there facility. They are very professional and treated me with respect, In and out in less than 1 hour. Very clean rest room including a shower stall .
Love this company. They treat drivers with respect. All trucks are very well maintained and up to date. The pay is very good. I'll be here for a really long time.
I've been driving trucks for quite a while and never experienced anything like this in my life. I believe trucking companies want robots to drive the trucks and have removed the Driver from the equation. From the use of cameras to the ELD the skills of the Professional Driver is being dismissed, marginalized and downright irrelevant to these companies. Passing an accident on the shoulder (by the way which was on the other side of the road!!) Has never been a safety violation but in these days and times it is. I didn't receive a warning, didn't have an accident or incident but because a rubbernecker called in I was dismissed due to the video being pulled and reviewed!! I'm disappointed but I understand HSI protecting their interests but to make decisions on what could happen is weak and a sign of the times!!
Awesome company. They treat you like family. I consider it a Blessing to work for a company like this. Love my job.
I like Howard Sheppard they are a steep up from my last experience with a storage unit. The place is always clean and employees always friendly.
This company is very much judgemental. They think they're better than other ppl just because someone has a previous record. They won't even consider hiring them even though they have over 40 years driving experien. Self-righteous people.
Loaded me very fast scale on site room for overnight parking
Worked there was a good job to have pays well and friendly management.
Best company ever they treat you like family
Proud and grateful to be a part of the HSI team. Very good people to work for.

Friendly staff very professional at what they do I'm greatful to be a part of the company now
Bulk division, keep you busy, but can pay a little more than what it do they also have good equipment and will work with you on whatever situation you have
What is the best part of working at the company? The drivers and equipment operators What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Unrealistic load counts. Trucks always breaking down. Hours only good if you live in town or close to the yard. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Everyone is a number. Company only worried about money, not it's drivers What is a typical day like for you at the company? At work between 4-430 AM, run your tail off all day just to get load count. No lunch, no breaks if you want to get your numbers and make your money
What is the best part of working at the company? Great pay, Family oriented environment, Excellent equipment, and flexible dispatch What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Nothing stressful about it, Great working environment. Better to work as company driver than leasing What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Well cultured. Enjoyed working with the staff. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Well planned. No force dispatch. Always have options to fit work life balance. It is all on the driver
What is the best part of working at the company? Getting paid weekly. Being off on major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Having to beg and beg for a raise you will be denied for . What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Fast paced as long as the demand is high and we aren’t over our monthly Quota What is a typical day like for you at the company? Like any other job . Come in early leave late . A lot of long long hours .
They lots of work and lots of favoritism if you're not a part of the crew u won't succeed here ........................................................
I liked the job until I was told I couldn’t be an Owner Operator. Everything went downhill after that. It’s a great company T work for overall although.
The pay is not the best but you do get your own dedicated truck. The work is very easy and it is a livable wage. Your home daily. Dispatch is very flexible. Pays by the load which averages to about $20 an hour, but you can sit on your butt and do whatever. This is the perfect company for some, but not the hard worker.
What is the best part of working at the company? Daily work What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Traffic miscommunication from upper and staff What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Very stressful What is a typical day like for you at the company? Very stressful low pay
They told me I would get paid $1400 guaranteed as long as I showed up and worked. But they don't pay for breakdowns and you can't make all of the loads to make the $1400 bc the GPA causes so many delays. And they said I would only get paid by the load if I called out a day or more. The other drivers are awesome but the company only cares about making themselves money and not paying drivers what they are worth.
I really like the people at Howard Sheppard. The office staff are a bunch of terrific people. I couldn't have asked for nicer people. They will go above and beyond for you. All you have to do is communicate
Their claims of being a great company to work for are a stretch, at best. The days are long and the pay is low. The only benefit to me is, after many years OTR, I am home at night. They also love using the road drivers for port work, the Savannah Port SUCKS!!!
I would get to work at 3 am and wait until 4am when they would let you out the gate. I would go to the pit that I was suppose to be at and wait for the back hoe operator to load the dump truck and then take it to the assign blender. It was always like a race with the other drivers they would almost run you off the road if you drove the speed limit. Dispatch would count your money such as put you in a pit that did not make that much and put the people that he like on the big money making runs. Dispatch talk to you any kind of way by calling you raciest remarks such as gal and boy. When in training if you did not drive fast like the older drivers they would leave you and you would be lost trying to find the pits. If you were late to work they would give your assign truck away and did not even tell you.
I worked at HS for two years and I’ve learned a lot . The pay was 500-900 a week bring home . I rarely seen a check over 1000. Everyone in the front office talked about me like a dog. It’s no loyalty at this company and the pay is horrible. I used to work all day and night . Barely made enough to pay my bills . I wouldn’t recommend this job to anyone . It’s been 3 years since I’ve been employed there and in glad HS fired me. I’m making waaaaaayy more money now. Almost done paying off my truck .
Worst job I have had.in the container division they will take 500 out of your check when you start. They will tell you that you will get it back but don't believe that.did not get mine back.the pay is low but they will cut your already low pay as a punishment for something they say you did.they right you up and will give you a fine if the GPS on the truck says your speeding. They have a person that sits and watches the cameras to try to catch you doing something so they can cut your already low pay.they have what seems like a lot of fatality accidents for a company there size.just google them and it will show you some of them. They are greedy taking money from there drivers and one day it will come back on them. They really don't care about there drivers. Wish I had never went to work there. My advice is to NOT work for them.
The culture at HSI is outstanding. You truly feel like you are part of a family while working for these guys. They are a fast growing business with the right people in place to continue to be a leader in the industry.
If you're just getting into truck driving then this would be a good place to get your feet wet. And that's where the good ends. You start off in the oldest, filthiest, most raggedy truck on the yard. Inside of the trucks are a cesspool and will need extensive cleaning just so you wont catch a disease or ruin your clothes. Expect to get up at 2,3,4 o'clock in the morning and not get home til 6-7 pm. You're paid by the load and it's not much. 500 a week isnt much considering how many hours you put in. You get 3 paid days off a year and if you get scheduled to work on a weekend day, they'll use your vacation day if you cant work that weekend. The trucks constantly break down and you will sit hours on the side of the road ,unpaid, waiting on a mechanic. Avoid this place unless you're desperate for a job
My experience with the company was great all the staff was wonderful to work with and be around. Less stress fast pace environment at times and then slow pace at time it have its moments. I would refer anyone to the job it’s just it’s time for change and growth in other jobs
Easy job...i was local ...friendly people just don't work in wet conditions or rain ...it rained a month strait LAST year..No pay no work....one chevk was 49 bucks...but overall it's a good job. Not recommended for ANY one who is the sole household provider
It’s ok to work hear but if you in the dump division you won’t work in bad weather and you won’t get paid the days you work so sometimes your check will be 100 to 200 dollars
I love working for Howard Sheppard I was an owner operator an I loved it . I wish I stilled owned my truck . Good work life balance . I enjoyed working for Howard Sheppard
Great pay because of large numbers of hrs worked. Schedule subject to change minutes before shift ends. No home time, all work. A lot of gossiping men confined to a small work area. Stay away!
Howard Sheppard change when I got hurt on the job. They change terminal mangers to much. They don't like drives who can think on there own. I was the only female driver who receive a over a million safe mile award and they did'nt want to give to me. I ask over and over to train for other jobs with the company and they refuse to train me. For that reason along I would not tell anyone to work for them
