All about making sure you don’t get screwed over in deals
They’ve got my full endorsement, they’re the first ones I’m calling
These guys are on another level.
Things can get stressful on the road. Still, it's a ride worth taking if you're into the trucking life
This company does not accept responsibility for their actions. Monday July 1st 2024 I was traveling through Wilkinson county. A Howard Sheppard truck was traveling towards me going well above the speed limit. Truck number 2581 came around a slight curve and I saw a golf ball size of kaolin come from the top rails on his trailer and busted my windshield the driver wouldn't stay at the accident. The supervisor that showed up was friendly and respectful and understood my frustration he put me in contact with the sandersville office and I talked to a guy Jamie that was supposed to handle the "situation" I told him what happened and that I made a police report he responded that he was going to do some digging to figure out what happened I didn't hear from him for two days I had to call him back and he told me he reviewed the footage and claimed their was rocks in the road the driver hit I stated again I watched the kaolin come from the top of his truck and i have pictures of the chalk on the broken windshield and I sent him pictures of that I still have not heard back from him about the situation almost a week ago. The Howard Sheppard trucks hauling kaolin do not use the cover to cover their load while in transportation.
Best company ever for once u are recognized by your name not a number...
Nice family owned business. Everyone here is so nice and treats you like family. Good place to work.

I have been employed at Howard Sheppard since 2015 and plan to stick around until retirement. With options ranging from dump truck, tanker, and container divisions you have an unlimited supply of opportunities. Whether you are a rookie looking for experience, or a veteran driver seeking to advance your career, Howard Sheppard is the place to be. The business is family run and puts family first when it comes to their drivers. They have excellent benefits and competitive pay with increasing percentages based on longevity. Come and join our team, you won't regret it.
I don't drive for them but I loaded at there facility. They are very professional and treated me with respect, In and out in less than 1 hour. Very clean rest room including a shower stall .
Love this company. They treat drivers with respect. All trucks are very well maintained and up to date. The pay is very good. I'll be here for a really long time.
I've been driving trucks for quite a while and never experienced anything like this in my life. I believe trucking companies want robots to drive the trucks and have removed the Driver from the equation. From the use of cameras to the ELD the skills of the Professional Driver is being dismissed, marginalized and downright irrelevant to these companies. Passing an accident on the shoulder (by the way which was on the other side of the road!!) Has never been a safety violation but in these days and times it is. I didn't receive a warning, didn't have an accident or incident but because a rubbernecker called in I was dismissed due to the video being pulled and reviewed!! I'm disappointed but I understand HSI protecting their interests but to make decisions on what could happen is weak and a sign of the times!!
Awesome company. They treat you like family. I consider it a Blessing to work for a company like this. Love my job.
I like Howard Sheppard they are a steep up from my last experience with a storage unit. The place is always clean and employees always friendly.
This company is very much judgemental. They think they're better than other ppl just because someone has a previous record. They won't even consider hiring them even though they have over 40 years driving experien. Self-righteous people.
Loaded me very fast scale on site room for overnight parking
Worked there was a good job to have pays well and friendly management.
Best company ever they treat you like family

Good place to work my son drive his own truc k for them
Friendly staff very professional at what they do I'm greatful to be a part of the company now
The bulk division keeps you busy, though the pay could be better. They have good equipment and are willing to work with you on any issues or situations you encounter.
What is the best part of working at the company? The drivers and equipment operators. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Unrealistic load expectations, frequent truck breakdowns, and inconsistent hours unless you live close to the yard. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Employees are treated as numbers. The company prioritizes profits over drivers' well-being. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Arrive between 4-4:30 AM, work nonstop all day to hit load counts. No lunch or breaks if you want to earn your pay.
What is the best part of working at the company? Excellent pay, family-friendly environment, top-notch equipment, and flexible dispatch. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Nothing stressful—it’s a great work environment. It’s better to be a company driver than to lease. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Highly professional. I enjoyed collaborating with the staff. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Well-organized. No forced dispatch, with options that accommodate work-life balance. The driver controls the pace.
What is the best part of working at the company? Weekly pay and time off for major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Struggling to get a raise, despite repeated requests. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Fast-paced when demand is high, as long as quotas aren’t exceeded. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Standard—arrive early, leave late, with many long hours.
There’s plenty of work, but favoritism is rampant. If you’re not part of the “in” group, you won’t succeed here.
I enjoyed the job until I was told I couldn’t become an Owner Operator. Things deteriorated after that, although it’s still a good company overall.
The pay isn’t great, but you get your own dedicated truck. The work is simple, offering a livable wage, and you’re home daily. Dispatch is very flexible. Pay is per load, averaging around $20 an hour. It’s ideal for some, but not for those seeking a demanding work environment.
What is the best part of working at the company? Daily work. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Miscommunication regarding traffic between upper management and staff. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Very stressful. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Stressful and poorly compensated.
They promised $1,400 guaranteed pay as long as I showed up to work, but delays caused by the GPA made it impossible to complete all the loads to earn that amount. They don’t pay for breakdowns, and if you call out, pay is per load. The other drivers are great, but the company prioritizes profits over fair pay for drivers.
The people at Howard Sheppard are wonderful. The office staff is incredibly kind and helpful, willing to go the extra mile for you if you communicate effectively.
Claims of being a top-tier company are exaggerated. The workdays are long, and the pay is low. The only advantage for me is being home at night after years of OTR driving. They often assign road drivers to port work, and the Savannah Port is notoriously inefficient.
I would start work at 3 AM and wait until 4 AM for the gate to open. I’d then head to the designated pit for loading and deliver to the assigned blender. The job felt like a race, with other drivers nearly running you off the road if you adhered to the speed limit. Dispatch assigned less profitable routes to some while reserving better-paying runs for favored individuals. Racist language like "gal" and "boy" was common. During training, slower drivers were often abandoned, left to find pits on their own. If late, your assigned truck could be reassigned without notice.
I worked at HS for two years and gained valuable experience. Weekly pay ranged from $500-900, rarely exceeding $1,000. Office staff spoke negatively about me, and the company lacked loyalty. Despite working long hours, I barely earned enough to cover expenses. I wouldn’t recommend this job. Three years after leaving, I’m earning significantly more and am close to paying off my truck.
Working in the container division was a nightmare. They deducted $500 from my initial paycheck, claiming it would be returned—but it wasn’t. Pay was low and further reduced as penalties for alleged infractions. The company monitored employees through cameras, imposing fines for speeding based on GPS data. With numerous fatal accidents, they seemed to prioritize profits over safety. I regret working there and advise others to avoid this company.
The culture at HSI is exceptional. Employees genuinely feel part of a family. The company is expanding rapidly and has the right leadership to remain a leading industry player.
