I interviewed with this company this week. Everything was going really great, they told me that they have an extreme shortage of drivers that can deliver Hazmat, so extreme that they're turning down business. They asked if I could complete a drug test and DOT physical the same day and I asked if my virtually brand new DOT Medical Card would be acceptable and they declined, said I had to go to their doctor, which I agreed to, I said sure, no problem, anyone but Concentra, and the guys head dropped. He said he'd see if the owner would agree to it and get back to me, but they never got back to me. I just got a notification that I was declined employment through Driver Pulse. It's funny, he told me that they routinely have drivers decline to go through Concentra. If you're a driver and they demand that you go through Concentra, decline it. Concentra is in the C-PAP business and routinely demands that drivers go through sleep apnea testing, it'll ruin your career. Food for thought.

I called and spoke with 2 different people. A Guy by the name of Russ got on the phone and I explained who I was, and I wanted to learn about the company and program partnerships. He cut me off to ask where I was located, I told him, then as I get to my next statement this guy says “get to the point”. I said nevermind, I just learned what I needed. Excuse me, Russ- who do you think you are? Rudeness will get you and your company nowhere. I wanted to learn and HR passed me off to this guy who could care less about a partner, stakeholder, or opportunities that may help this company. It’s about interpersonal skills, that will connect with people. If you all have high turnover, I bet I see why. I am sure not everyone is like this, but the first impression is a lasting one.

My brother works here as a dispatcher. He used to be a driver. They're a great company and have a good reputation for getting your shipment to it's destination in a timely manner. During the COVID scare they were running 24, 7, getting samples to LabCorp. They do a variety of shipments including medical.

First-in, first-out system with fair pay and loads. They've switched to automatic transmissions, so operating the trucks shouldn’t be an issue for anyone. Payday is every two weeks, and direct deposit is available. From what I’ve seen, the office staff had no complaints.

Unless you have a dedicated route, you’ll mostly just break even on fuel costs. The people working here are great, but it's best to do this job as a side gig if you have financial obligations.

Management is dishonest. A typical workday is stressful due to unclear instructions—you often have to figure things out on your own.

What’s the best part of working at the company? They are flexible with scheduling. What’s the most stressful part? It’s Hot Shot trucking—when it rains, work availability drops significantly. What’s the work environment like? At the Dallas location, the culture is positive. The Operations Manager maintains a great attitude and always looks for solutions. What’s a typical day? Start early in the morning and go from there. Hot Shot loads are unpredictable, so availability is key. If you have other obligations, it's best to coordinate with them in advance.

Don't waste your time—pay is unreliable, departures are frequently delayed, and they deduct money from your paycheck every time you’re paid, including a $50 fee they claim to be holding but never return. AVOID this company!

This applies specifically to Oklahoma City contractors leased to JH Walker. JH Walker itself may be a good company, but dealing with the Oklahoma City setup is confusing—you must establish your own LLC, then lease onto a truck that’s leased to JH Walker. Despite claims of being busy, I spent multiple days waiting at home without hearing from anyone. The smaller trucks were nice, but stay away from their semis. They make a lot of promises but fail to deliver. Be prepared to be charged for every dent, scratch, and board damage, even if you weren’t responsible. It operates like a family-run racket in OKC—consider this a warning for future drivers.

A good workplace, though not the right fit for me. HR staff were excellent, and the front office team was always pleasant. If you want to be home most nights, this is a good choice—just focus on your job and avoid distractions, and you’ll do fine.

Primarily Gulf Coast hauls. I would probably still be in line hauling if the oil field slowdown hadn’t affected drilling operations. Unfortunately, our rates were cut in half after production stopped.
