JCT is family, the good kind of family. I started driving here in July 2021 and have absolutely no plans of going anywhere. I have never been treated so well. I feel appreciated and valued as a driver and as a person. I don't go by my birth name, and they put it in the system to call me by my preferred name. In my experience, they are LGBTQIA+ friendly for sure. I ended up getting sick and admitted to the hospital while I was at home once. They were super understanding and patient throughout everything. Danielle in compliance and I kept in touch and she made sure I knew there was no rush to me coming back and that I could take as much time as I needed to get better. I always have plenty of miles. I am truly appreciative of the way this company runs.
This is the one company that doesn't feel like the rest. Most companies will say that you are like family when you are there but truly you are just a number on the truck. This company really is a family and very transparent. Great pay and haven't had any payroll issues in the 3 years I've been here. Great miles. Great equipment. Very good shop and quick to get in. They let you run your business how you want as well. Nice lanes to accommodate most and they get us home when we want and need it. Also, YES YOU CAN PAY OFF YOUR TRUCK HERE!!!! My husband and I have $25k left on our 2020 KW and once we are done it is only $1 for your last payment. No big balloon payment at the end to prevent you from owning it.
Surely this company can hire recruiters that put some amount of effort into finding drivers. Found an ad that said hiring in all 48 states, then got on the phone with a rude lady saying she has no clue why I applied since they don’t hire in my area (they do for local positions). I suggest this company find better recruiters who have customer service experience and who can post a correct job ad. Ridiculous that you can’t get a few paragraphs accurate.
STAY AWAY! DON’t WORK HERE IF YOU WANT TO EAT AND PAY YOUR BILLS! My husband started work here in March and had maybe 2 good checks. That meaning a little over a $1,000 in a week. We have struggled to pay our rent, bills & health insurance. This company is nothing but lies! My husband grossed $2,500 last week and only made $350 of that in a check. This week was supposed to be his last check and they aren’t paying him anything. My husband worked a full week for free and had to deal with their faulty trailer that kept messing up. He had to wait around 3 times in one week for it to be fixed and he was supposed to get break down pay. That was never given to him and the pay to drive the tractor back to them as promised was never paid. My husband also got another driver hired here who is seeing the same issues now.
This company does not care about you as a person. It's not alot of people there of color. I was in orientation and on the last day they decided to send me home based off a lie from another company. The lady Tiffany who's over orientation looks for any reason to diss miss u. Recruiter told me I was good to work here but she doesn't like people of color. Stay away from this company they will lie to get u in the building but send u home after a wasted week

Jct is one of the few true great companies left. I was with them in the early 2000’s and I stayed a couple years. I had to leave due to mother in law’s battle with cancer she lost. They treated me so much respect. I didn’t come back because I went and bought a truck out right. Fast forward to 2020 and I lost my business due to trade war and truck major breakdown. I’m back now in 2022 and the same office staff is here and they have not changed. They have so much respect for drivers. I see the negative reviews, all I can say is that it is hard to adjust from a company driver mindset to a business owner mind set. It’s a huge difference and that difference will sink a owner. You can do very well with JCT. You just need to change your mindset. I repeat, you will set the course to do good or fail by your own merit. The LP program is good.
Everyone is so friendly! Quite a refreshing change from my previous employer, who will remain nameless. They are very laid back and everyone at the office has an open door policy. I'm hopeful that I will be with JCT for quite some time. If you're looking for a career with a carrier that actually treats you like an adult and cares about you, this is the place!
Good lanes with plenty of loads. Home time is available when needed or requested. Competitive pay with great incentives, including safety bonuses every 30,000 miles. Load scheduling could be better planned.
From orientation to my departure, I had a positive experience. The company truly felt like family, and they genuinely cared—it wasn’t just talk. Even my exit interview was pleasant. I only left because I wanted more frequent home time rather than the three weeks out schedule.
Mostly running routes along highways 10, 20, and 40, coast to coast, with some runs in Washington state. If you live north of North Carolina, don’t expect to get home on schedule. Strong operations in the Southeast and West Coast regions.
Great routes and solid home time. If my truck hadn’t broken down, I’d still be working here. The turbo was on backorder for weeks, so I found another job. Ironically, my truck was repaired while I was in orientation at my new company.
This is a lease-to-own program with no balloon payment at the end. They treat drivers like family and allow payments to be made while working. If your truck breaks down, they cover the costs upfront and deduct small amounts from each settlement rather than requiring a lump sum.
The experience depends on having a good driving manager. You may get coast-to-coast mileage, but high mileage eats into your earnings, so your overall pay ends up similar to other drivers.
Overall, it’s been a positive experience, though mileage rates need improvement to better reflect actual miles driven. It’s a good choice for first-time drivers looking to gain industry experience.
A solid company to work for. I’m a rehire but currently looking for a position with daily home time. Despite being acquired by Hirschbach Motor Lines, the company has maintained its family-like atmosphere.
JCT employees are generally friendly, but once you’re in a truck, communication with dispatch can be hit or miss—you never know if the person answering the phone has the right information. This is primarily a lease company, though company driver positions exist. However, company drivers receive high-mileage trucks, while newer trucks are reserved for lease drivers. Expect around 2,300–2,400 miles per week with one long run. Company drivers face forced dispatch. If you're considering leasing, you might have a different experience, but I wouldn’t recommend this company for company drivers. Best of luck either way.
A typical day includes waking up, performing pre-checks and preventative maintenance on the tractor and trailer, and ensuring load temperature is within range. As an independent owner-operator, pay should be higher to make long periods away from home worthwhile.
I'm satisfied with John Christner Trucking. They keep me busy, and the pay is decent. I’m interested in team driving opportunities and would like to learn more about that.
Home time is limited—it’s too far from where I live. If you don’t mind being on the road for a month or more at a time, it’s a good company. Equipment is well-maintained, and their shop is excellent.
