From just starting out driving to transferring from another company this is the yard that has it all for KLLM. I went to the driver school there and enjoyed the experience. Training was as painless as possible. Upgrading just as easy. I would highly recommend them if you are thinking about getting into truck driving
If I could have put 0 stars, I would have! This company was the worst experience of my life. Please run for the hills!! I was hired and only worked here for two weeks because I could not take anymore. I came on as a team driver that was promised .71 and more than 5000miles combined with my codriver. We never ran over 3000. So we had to split. As teams, the truck is supposed to keep moving, but we sat 3 times in two weeks. We sat so long that my codriver was able to do a 34hr reset and then another time, I was able to do a 34 as well. We kept being forced to take loads that were already late. We would have loads assigned and swapped 3-4 times in one day. We wouldn’t get new fuel routes with the new assignments causing fuel cards to decline when we tried to get fuel. The fuel route is more important than your safety because of discounts. We received a smoker’s truck and I almost passed out and had to ride with the windows down all night. The scent was still there two weeks later. The air in the sleeper went out and was “fixed” twice and it still broke within an hr each time. I had to pay for trailer washes, etc because the card declined at certain places because it wasn’t approved even though we were told to stop. We didn’t receive a starter kit including locks, etc…we kept asking, but never received it because they said the person who assigned those things was out and no one else had access. Dispatch is extremely rude and belittle you because of THEIR mistakes. They call about SWAP OUTS while you are off duty in the sleeper, which is illegal. Our bonuses were put together and taxed. I tried to divide the bonus evenly so I called payroll and they couldn’t tell me what the bonus amount was with the taxes. I could go on and on!!! Stay away if you like organization because everything was unorganized and UNPROFESSIONAL.
This company goes above and beyond I am extremely ecstatic they will push you to your limit and make u achieve your goal ! I learned something new everyday they all are awesome . I’m still smiling as I am typing this if you are looking for a truck driving school KLLM in Mississippi is it ! I am telling you right now this school does not compare to any other truck driving school ! This school is dedicated to safety and dedicated to teach its students in the upmost professional manner possible ! If I could give a 1000 stars I would !
Kllm has a good training program at their school. Its professional and organized. It's starting pay is above average but that comes with a cost if you are a new driver. You will basically get left over runs. After about 4 months of being employed with them the only thing I ever saw was Northeast coast. I averaged about $900 a week. I found out alot of drivers are comfortable with that. I went back to my day job.
They look for a reason to send you home. They found an arrest not even on my record and it was a set up from the cops in LA so it was thrown out of court. I was let go for that and I didn't sit down when we were doing nothing first day second week. Wouldn't recommend this place.
They cut my fuel card off with no explanation got it cut back 8 hours later doing a load to Maytag in Bridgeton, Missouri got rolled by EF-4 tornado South of Hayti,Mo left me stranded in Hayti because they said I didn't exist in their system and when I tried to get hotel after truck was wrecked but once again they said I didn't exist truck should've been a total loss but insurance company wanted to repair 85,000 truck for 60,000 citing trucks were to high it rained in the truck for 2 weeks and was filled with 200 or 300 field mice and rats when I went to recover my belongings . KLLM took my maintenance money and never stopped charging me for the truck payments at any point . I got calls but it was from Doug Leo and Matt Tallent wanting me to rent a truck when I was still in physical therapy I was terminated on March 11th and did not find out until mid April that I was no longer employed with KLLM and I had to call my dispatcher on his personal phone to ask him if I was still employed . I did email upper management with all of my concerns but sadly Doug Leo and Matt Tallent probably didn't think my issues were important enough to even respond. My question was if insurance paid 60,000 in damages for 85,000 Freightliner Cascadia why did you drain my maintenance account and never stop charging me weekly truck payments ....sad situation but I hope my story will help a person considering becoming a LP or future in employee to be able to see the other side of the situation because it's not all peaches and cream
Do not go through this company. They are using a lab that is purposely tampering with samples. Someone who has never done drugs before test has come back positive. We immediately went to another corporate company that does hair samples. Not a small personal company. The test came back negative. Same time frame!!!! We are willing to pay. The only thing we wanted to do was get the name cleared. Just to show them they lied. They won’t even let us pay to prove it. Because they know it was tampered with. If you come back positive just know they are tampering and backing the company that they are using. How do you pass a hair sample test at a Big company but fail it at the small time lab that the company uses that they have a contract with!!! BE CAREfUL THEY ARE MESSING UP REPUTATIONS AND LIVES INSTEAD OF HELPING. He said the lady walked off with his sample and didn’t close it while he was right there. Him being young didn’t know he was supposed to sit there and watch’s now that is his fault! Be careful is all im saying! These company’s of course is gonna back them own selves because they don’t want to be wrong. THEY ARE LIARS!!!
I had a great experience working here.my dispatcher(Chris Haywood)and dm(Oscar pope) were great.just like any other job or in life for that matter you will have some bad days but overall it’s worth it.I was a company driver for 2 years.for about the last 2 I was a trainer.made good money and got home when requested.the only reason I left was because I got my on truck and branched out on my on
Working at KLLM was an excellent opportunity for me. I would still be there if not for personal circumstances. If you’re looking for a great trucking company, they’re among the best.
Fantastic workplace with great locations! Still learning everything, but getting there. Hoping for better pay soon. Some odd coworkers, but I can handle it.
Nothing to complain about at KLLM—great people, solid equipment, and straightforward loads and routes. I left only because I was redeployed to the Middle East on a USG contract. Otherwise, I would have stayed. The only concern I had was the total weekly miles, which averaged around 2,700 per week. Things slowed down for a while, but that’s just part of the job. Highly recommended, especially for new drivers. I transitioned from FFE academy to KLLM as a lease purchase OTR driver and later a dedicated driver—an overall great experience.
A good company for training. No driver-facing cameras, decent home time, and solid equipment, though some trailers are in rough shape as it’s a starter company.
What is the best part of working at the company? Modern trucks, including Freightliner, Kenworth, and Peterbilt models under two years old. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Ensuring payroll is accurate and processed as advertised. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Administrative support could be better—drivers often bear the burden of organizational shortcomings rather than the company taking full accountability. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Transporting goods from one location to another.
Lease purchase wasn’t a good fit for me, so I switched to company driving, which turned out great. My experience improved significantly after the switch. I only left for a local driving job.
Solid place to work. If you’re willing to run, they’ll keep you moving with good miles and pay. Over-the-road jobs ensure great miles, and they always get me home on time.
Expect extended time away from home. PTO is earned at two days per week worked, with a maximum of two weeks for every seven weeks on the road. If you have a family, this might not be ideal. The company has excellent accounts and competent dispatchers.
The regional fleet is the only one worth joining due to guaranteed pay—but you must follow all directives without question, or you might face challenges.
A great place to start a trucking career. I’ve been here nearly three years, experiencing both highs and lows. That’s expected with any job. Dedicated accounts offer the best opportunities—I wasn’t a fan of the OTR side.
KLLM operates out of Jackson, Mississippi. Since I live in Louisiana, I can take my truck home if I’m within 150 miles of the terminal. A good company with paid home time.
Excellent trainers and a team of good people. I never encountered any issues, and depending on the trainer, they can be very hands-on. They ensure drivers get what they need to succeed.
What is the best part of working at the company? Newer trucks and higher per-mile pay. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Poor communication—departments don’t coordinate with each other. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Drivers largely operate independently. Dispatchers are indifferent, and the shop staff is rude and unhelpful.
Excellent dispatch support and pay. The only downside is that roadside assistance can take a while, though that’s expected. Home time pay was suitable for my needs. Highly recommended for new drivers.
Decent pay for OTR drivers, with an extra $200 per week for staying out longer than two weeks. Day shift dispatchers are great; night dispatch isn’t as reliable.
Stay away! They push drivers beyond their limits, showing no concern for personal emergencies—only ensuring loads are delivered on time.
Fair treatment, great dispatch, and plenty of miles. The insurance isn’t the best, but it’s adequate. The company fosters good working relationships and takes care of employees.
Work was steady when rail yards were busy. Unfortunately, that’s not the case anymore—it’s just the nature of the industry.
I loved working here as a trainer until they consistently assigned me short-distance teams, despite my requests to stop. A late load was incorrectly blamed on my training methods, leading to unfair accusations. My concerns were ignored by the training department, which ultimately pushed me to leave.
Just checking out reviews. I attended KLLM a while back—it was fine. A decent company for first-year drivers but not ideal for a long-term career.
