The best that they have to offer is a traumatic and Improper training experience, low pay, and discrimination against African American Women. Forcing someone to live on a truck with another truck driver who only has 6 months of experience themselves does not a proper training experience make. Knight doesn't care about drivers or the industry, if they did they would pay more and diversify their workforce. Also once they found out that I was African American they never followed up on my application. Do not waste your time ladies. There are other options available if you do the research and stop listening to other drivers experiences at other companies.

I like driving for Knight but it’s hard to feel a part of a company that separates itself from it’s drivers in a sense. We do work for the same company as every one in this North building does correct? I haven’t even seen this building or met anyone from it. Just unsure why the corporate office is separate from it’s bread and butter. The drivers.

I work here and I love it! After retiring from the Army they hired me right away. It has been an easy transition from military to Knight because it really feels like a second family. If you like to be treated like you deserve to be treated and don't like feeling like people are trying to babysit you all the time I Highly recommend working here

Your “self driving” trucks will definitely fail and definitely cause accidents on the road. Them lawsuits will be on your way sooner or later. Good luck

By far one of the best companies I've ever worked for if you're looking for a company that's going to treat you good and a terminal where everybody look out for each other the Charlotte terminal is the place for you.

Been a good company, from a driver, to a trainer to now in the office. Like any place has it up and downs but can't complain to much.

As workplaces go, it's not unpleasant. If you work here you don't really care how many stars it gets on Google :-)

You'll find nothing but friendly faces and hard-working people here. I came here to get a job in trucking, and they have great benefits for whatever job you want to do that this place will accommodate you for. The pay is good and competitive and I couldn't recommend to more.

They try to keep drivers satisfied, but occasionally, loads arrive with incorrect addresses—often due to errors from the company providing the freight. Sometimes, dispatchers resist allowing 34-hour breaks, forgetting that truckers need rest. Despite this, they generally make efforts to ensure a comfortable experience for drivers.

If you’re not one of your dispatcher’s preferred drivers, expect to receive the least desirable loads. While mileage is good and the equipment is new, the company is not family-friendly. Personal time and home life aren’t priorities—they are happy as long as you're driving.

Loads are available throughout the day, but despite near dominance in the trucking industry, wages remain stagnant. This is why drivers keep leaving. Many former drivers have said they would return if pay was raised to at least the industry average. The current average is $0.65 per mile—even US Express offers that rate.

Truck repairs are neglected when brought to the shop. Driver safety is an afterthought, with issues like faulty brakes being ignored. Despite claiming a pay rate of $0.49 per mile, actual earnings are far lower.

Dispatch operates strictly from 7 AM to 5 PM. After-hours support is nonexistent, with responses limited to: "Sorry, there’s nothing I can do. Call during business hours." Safe harbor policy restricts breaks to terminals or truck stops, but terminals resemble used car lots, prioritizing trucks and trailers for sale over available space.

Still waiting on detention pay. Hard to see how they retain drivers once they calculate their actual earnings. They talk a good game, but their actions are no different from any other major carrier—they will use drivers as long as possible.

- Strong driver training - Convenient terminals nationwide - Lack of transparency in rules and bonuses - Excessive restrictions on U-turn policy; no clarity among office staff - Long wait times (sometimes 30–40 minutes) to speak with dispatch - Account managers frequently display incompetence - Mileage is calculated from zip code to zip code, often shorting drivers by 10–15 miles, which is standard in the industry. However, discrepancies of 50–70 miles or more occur when actual routes don’t match mileage calculations. - Dispatch is slow to approve detention or layover pay. - Always check your pay—errors are common.

A solid job with good equipment, great dispatchers, and well-maintained trucks. Any necessary truck repairs are handled properly.

I joined Knight Transportation last year and had a poor experience overall. The only strong point was their CDL training. If you’re new to trucking, it’s better to pay for private training rather than getting stuck in a low-paying role with Knight.

Great company if you are self-motivated, work well independently, and communicate effectively. Terminal staff was supportive, and their open-door policy was appreciated. Newer trucks, good work environment—it all depends on the effort you put into the job. Best of luck!

You won’t earn what they advertise. My weekly pay and monthly bonus were lower than promised. Management frequently says, “We appreciate you,” but fails to process detention pay, layover pay, PTO pay, and bonus payments. No explanation is ever provided.

Only worked at Knight for a few months. It was a good experience, but the job required too much time away from home. I’d consider working for them again under different circumstances.

Been here for over 30 days, and finding the right fit in this industry is tough. It’s a decent starter company for new drivers—not as bad as some suggest. No forced dispatch is a plus. I’ve been driving for nearly four years and have struggled to find a company that suits me while I advance my career. Knight has newer automatic trucks, and I actually like my dispatch manager. The company is structured well—you can access everything through their app, and they won’t force you into anything you’re uncomfortable with. Like all companies, there are pros and cons. Pay is okay, not great, but making good money anywhere means running hard. They offer a military program, TWIC card assistance, and endorsements, which is helpful. Benefits are decent. Their terminals are secure and well-equipped, offering parking, showers, and laundry facilities so drivers can rest without concern. For company drivers, this is a good option.

Loads are available throughout the day, but despite dominating the trucking industry, Knight hasn't raised wages. That’s the biggest reason drivers keep leaving. Many former drivers have said they’d return if pay matched or exceeded the industry average. Right now, average pay is $0.65 per mile—US Express even offers that rate.

The company is okay. Organization is passable, and some facilities and fellow drivers were great. They provided decent loads, but occasionally forced assignments that barely yielded earnings. The Atlanta terminal is disorganized and needs improvement. Laundry machines and shower rods need replacement, and better cleaning services are needed for trucks—waste spots are often left behind. Overall, I’d rate them three stars.
