The company has some downsides. Drivers report inconsistent miles, some older trucks, and no option for doing a reset on the road. Pay for solo drivers is decent, and kottke trucking pay is generally fair for individual operators, but team pay is low compared to other companies, which makes Kottke less attractive for team drivers.
Overall, Kottke Trucking is a good fit for drivers who want a friendly, family‑style company and steady solo work. But for drivers who want higher earnings—especially teams—other companies offer much better pay and opportunities.
Driver feedback consistently highlights a respectful, family‑like culture, responsive dispatch, accurate and timely pay, and clean, well‑kept equipment. For anyone exploring kottke trucking jobs, the main tradeoffs include occasional low miles on certain boards, market‑standard pay rather than top‑tier rates, and some maintenance delays reported by drivers. Safety snapshots show vehicle and driver out‑of‑service rates below national averages, with zero recent alcohol or drug violations.

10/30/24 at approx. 8;30 p.m. on I35 just south of Albert Lea I witnessed one of your drivers purposely accelerate leaving a flat bed truck to have to merge back into the right lane 3 times. it was dark and raining with cars approaching quickly from the rear wanting to pass. That driver's actions are what cause fatality accidents out on the roadway. I am a driver as well. It takes just as much time to drop your speed as it would to accelerate and what he did is dangerous. Please do better in the future.
Your driver came in to the facility tonight was good when he signed in. On the way out he decided to give a problem his name is Shawn truck 726. We have to check the paperwork and the bak of the trailer, although we have it posted we verbally say this. He was rude stating he went to another facility and they didn't do that, well we are not all alike.
Thank you to your friendly and helpful driver truck#811 for helping me out and even unhooking from his trailer just so I can get into the parking spot. Much respect💪🏽
I live in Columbus, Wisconsin it's 11:30 a.m. on Friday 11/17 and I just watched a semi with the Kottke name on it FLY through - not stopping for the pedestrian (me) in the crosswalk. I hesitate to say how fast the driver was going but there was no way he could have stopped for anyone. I don't think he could have stopped for a car either - I would hesitate to guess he was doing 40 in a 25 mph zone. Thank goodness it was school let out with all the kids!
I was leased here once. Worst mistake I ever made. this company got over two and a half million dollars in PPP loans. And I'm sure Curt and Kyle made sure they never had to pay it back. This is a disgrace of a company in America. Disgrace to Buffalo lake Minnesota a disgrace to the trucking industry in America today. The Minnesota Trucking association should be ashamed of themselves. It wasn't a lottery on the backbone of America.
Please inform the driver of this truck he needs to look before changing lanes. Sat Feb 27 2021. 1:40 pm central time.. st peters mo. He come screaming up in the left lane.. and then Proceed to come to the right lane, then turn on his blinker, across the nose of my vehicle... Drivers like this is what gives truckers a bad name
Not much while your truck is being worked on but enough comfort to kill some time with TV, recliners, courtesy vehicle
I have loved every minute of being with these guys I like how me and my wife are treated they have done a lot for us with me having doctors appointments for a couple weeks in a row they worked to get us home on time so I can get them done plus they keep us moving quiet a bit
One big happy family once a year they get us all together the best they can through out a week for a family reunion they call it a safety meeting but it feels more like family reunion.
They take good care of its drivers and provide excellent equipment
Loads are consistent, and it's everything I need
was an incredible journey
Genuinely and care about their drivers
State-of-the-art equipment 👍👍
Great people, big smiles. Treated right.
Great people!!!!!
Worked for Kottke 3 years ago. They are a fair and honest company. I got in a little trouble and they worked with me to find a resolution. I would work for them again.
Friendly honest people doing honest business!!!! I look forward to doing business with them again and again!!!
Great company good equipment great shop steady miles I would highly recommend
They were great to work for, should never have left
I was just out of my lane by your truck in Jacksonville, Fl. He didn’t see me and he changed into my lane forcing me off the road.
Rafael you made comment saying teach your driver's to pull forward...I do agree some are lazy and too far and out of shape to walk any further from the pump. That's why their fat and out of shape. Only next time you put a picture on here pay attention to the angle of your camera because both fuel islands on either side were empty and you made yourself seem just as bad in a different way from complaining.
The driver takes their 10 hr break in front of a loading dock keeping deliveries from being made.

So Far So Good!! Just have to clean your own teuck when you get it button Stress Yet
I used to drive for them, great family owned company. Good people and very nice trucks. I might drive for them again, I live in Tampa, Fl. Not far from Wildwood.
A great place to work for they maintain there trucks I can say that. My truck had a issue with the headlight they did not try to cheaply repair it instead they changed both. The dispatch is the best anytime you have an issue there is someone 24/7 to talk to. I love it here.
I love kottke I haul loads for them they are awesome broker
Great place to work. Highly over the top recommend
Had to leave because of family medical issues, but if I chose back over the road, they will be my first phone call.
I’ve been driving for the Kottke’s part time local work for almost 2 years now, as a new driver they have treated me extremely well with giving me nice clean safe equipment and adequate pay and they have a full time fleet of professional drivers. And as a driver I know they are always on time and provide professional service for their customers. They are a well oiled machine and continue to take their stand as a superior company in the trucking industry.
Best company to work with !!Family-oriented and very honest people working there !!. A very good team always listens to drivers and work with you to make you happy
It’s not a bad job overall, although the shifts are really long—ranging from 17 to 26 hours. The pay is fixed salary, so you earn what you earn. The trucks could definitely use replacing, but aside from outdated equipment, the company was okay.
This is an excellent company to work for as a driver. The trucks are well-equipped, the HR department is outstanding, dispatch is highly organized, and the shop is efficiently managed. Every department is driven toward its goals. In simple terms, if you're a driver, Kottke Trucking is a place you’ll enjoy working.
I would have been much happier there if there had been better mileage opportunities. Unfortunately, the management of load assignments was poor. I stayed with the company for 10 years, hoping things would improve, but they never did.
This company isn’t bad, especially considering it’s family-owned, and they treat drivers well. However, they gave me an old truck with high mileage that had numerous mechanical issues—it broke down three times within three weeks.
It’s a great company where you're treated as a person, not just a name. While the pay could be better, the staff is fantastic. They have excellent routes, reliable customers, and plenty of freight. The only downside is there’s no reset available.
Being away for two weeks at a time isn’t ideal for me, but overall, it’s a solid company. The pay is decent, and they don’t enforce a strict “34 and out the door” policy. The equipment is in acceptable condition.
This is a good company, but they’ve grown too fast, taking on too many new drivers and accounts. They’ve outpaced their support staff. While the pay and benefits are generally great, there have been some cuts this year.
No concerns raised by drivers were ever ignored, from your fleet manager on up—even the company owners were responsive. They genuinely cared and didn’t dismiss driver issues. Problems with trucks were resolved within days, not weeks. The only downside was I wasn’t allowed to park the truck closer to home in a secure location, which was approximately 200 miles one way. Ultimately, I had to leave for personal reasons—family medical emergencies and long driving distances.
This is a great group of people to work with. The management is solid, the maintenance team is top-notch, and they offer flexible time off if you give advanced notice. Dispatch is helpful, accommodations are reasonable, and fair treatment is provided.
