I hoped to find better elsewhere but it did not work as well in payment as in treatment. MMF recognizes the value of its drivers and strives to ensure that everyone get what they deserve. The workday starts early—around 3 a.m.—and doesn’t end until about 9 p.m. Sometimes, a lack of work makes it difficult to earn a steady income. Management prioritizes their own drivers, leaving contractors scrambling for assignments.
Constant shortage of work. Dispatch assigns loads that aren’t ready, and despite the low workload, they continue hiring new drivers. If you enjoy wasting fuel, this might be the job for you.
Manchester Motor Freight is a solid company, but working out of the Worcester ramp comes with constant frustrations. Equipment is unreliable, repairs don’t get addressed, and management shows little concern. That attitude trickles down to the yard workers, who often ignore drivers entirely. This unprofessional environment has persisted for at least five years.
Being an owner-operator here has its ups and downs—some days are good, some are frustrating. The company tries to find work when things are slow, but communication between dispatchers and drivers is poor. Dispatch can be disrespectful, blaming their behavior on office problems, as if trucking itself isn’t demanding enough. The driver supervisor even threatens withholding pay if deliveries aren’t completed, and if your truck breaks down at receiving, don’t expect compensation.
A great company that continues to support its employees even in tough times. No forced dispatches, free health insurance, affordable dental and vision coverage, and 401k options. Most importantly, the coworkers are excellent.
