I gotta say, they're the real MVPs Matrix is the way to go! 🙌
Their terminals in Flint, MI and Laredo, TX give them a strong presence in the US, Canada, and Mexico, making them a one-stop-shop for all your shipping needs.
Staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile.
I was blown away by the level of service I received 🤯
I learned the kind of company to avoid and this is definitely one of them. You'll sit For at Least twenty four hours Waiting for a load unless you're going to laredo. In laredo you will Sit For atleast 2 days While watching other solo drivers arrive after you and get to leave before you.Because dispatch looks out for certain drivers an not others. Dispatch will lie to you to get you to do what they want, no matter how much it screws you. I worked here for 3 years and regret the last year in a half. I learned that I never want to be a company driver again. Would give negative stars if I could.
Mike the owner is a great guy. Always see these trucks rolling all oveth highways.. keep busy and safe guys. From a guy who powerwashes your trucks.
I have been a dispatcher in the trucking industry for over 25yrs. Coming to work for Matrix was the best decision I ever made for my career. It is rewarding to work with the drivers that are new just coming out of our driving school. The staff is always available to answer any questions and help them develop their driving skills. I look forward to checking in with our experienced drivers also to see how their day was going for them as well. You won't be disappointed if you come to work at Matrix.
I’ve only been driving for Matrix since November. It is my first driving job. I didn’t expect to enjoy it so much. I team drive with my husband, who has been driving for Matrix for three years. Even before I began working for Matrix I appreciated the fact that my husband was always able to get time off when he needed it. We have daughters in the military and aren’t always given much notice when one is able to be home, Matrix is wonderful about letting us be home when we need to be. Matrix truly has a family atmosphere and lets you put family first.
Awesome people great! I think I am going to add on to this. It has been a while and My husband Richard Schatz has been driving with this company now. The company is awesome to work for. He Loves these people. He gets along with them all. They make him feel just as important as they are. He says they know him by name not by a number! They will work with you when you need it. All in all Matrix Expedited Services is a Great Company to work for. They are a Reputable Company that we stand behind and in my Book That Says a lot!!!!
Matrix is a great place to work. With as many times as I've had family emergencies at home, I should've been fired. Matrix treats you as family and you are more than a number. I wish I could give a 4.5 star review. No company is perfect but this one comes close. The pay is at the lower end of the payscale for jobs like this BUT they definitely make it up in caring about you
Just started 2 weeks ago and although there are some hiccups (like any company) this is a great place to work for. I look forward to a long career here. Edit on 8/5: I'm moving on. This was a great job when James was in charge. ed is a sweetheart but right around the time he moved up, things slowed way way down. Moving on the FedEx. I still recommend this job to new people to get their foot in the door. They really worked with me when my husband got hurt and my mom died. I will miss a few people here. I loved my job but I need a decent paycheck
Matrix always provides stellar communication and customer service. Outstanding North American coverage for any size truck. If you are looking for a consistent transportation partner, then look no further.
They undercut their competitors by short-changing their drivers. They even have clauses in their handbook to circumvent state laws. An example would be that as a driver, Matrix WILL FORFEIT ALL of your earned but unused vacation time if you put in a 2 weeks notice. (State law requires employees' accrued vacation to be paid out upon seperation...but Matrix had their slick corporate lawyer draft a legal loophole to get around that law) Their "open door policy" is there, but expect serious retaliation if you suggest that their pay rate is too low. Also, they want you to listen to their side of the story, but will LITERALLY WALK AWAY from you when you attempt to explain your view point. The owners obviously don't care about their reputation. They would rather literally spend thousands upon thousands of dollars to combat high turnover instead of just treating their workers right. Check out the video "United Breaks Guitars" on YouTube for an example of how Matrix treats people.
All around good. -Mechanics are top notch -They will never send you out with non-compliment equipment -Very nice/new fleet -Good ownership/management -Dispatchers are 11/10 -easy going and stress free place to work -experienced and talented teacher at their CDL school -Dispatch is available 24/7 Over all this is a classy operation with little to no downside. I’ve been treated as family since day 1. Would recommend to anyone.
I WORKED FOR MATRIX FOR SHORT PERIOD AND THE COMPANY IS OK IF YOU LIKE SET AND WAIT ALL THE TIME.BUT NOT ALL DRIVER LIKE WAITING 10 OR 12 HRS FOR A LOAD THEN THEY GIVE U THOSE 100 OR 200 MILES RUN AFTER SETTING ALL DAY. THEN U GOT AUTOMOTIVE STRIKE THAT EVEN WORSE THAT THEY DO NOT WORK WITH GENERAL FREIGHT NATIONWIDE. SO I GAVE MY 2 WEEKS NOTICE AND WAS FIRED FOR GIVING MY NOTICE. BUT I DIDN'T KNEW THIS WAS COMING. I GUESS THAT THE WAY THEY DO BUSINESS.
2 weeks in a row they got my payment wrong to the tune of 472.00 roughly and around 384.00. They talk like they have a lot of freight but you end up sitting a lot. Don't work for them. They are a joke.
Been driving at Matrix for over 4 years. The owners, dispatch and other office personnel that I've dealt with are definitely all TOP NOTCH! They have a true open door policy and really make you feel like part of the family. They just increased wages for all new and current drivers!! Companies like Matrix that value their employees are hard to find. I'm grateful to be driving for them and appreciate all the good they do for the community.
Matrix is a great company to work for! We just received another pay increase and we are so grateful! My husband and I have been driving for 12 years and came to Matrix 3 years ago. We wanted more $, more home time and less time waiting on loads. Matrix said they could meet all our needs and they have delivered %100. On top of all that they are great people to work for! The whole team is amazing! We are feeling blessed! Come and join the winning team! You won’t be disappointed
Amazing group of people! They treat you with respect and your not a number! Great mechanics work hard to keep trucks running top notch! Dispatch works hard to keep you busy! Can’t say enough about them!! Management actually listens when you have a concern and they make time for you when you ask to speak to them!
Their classifies ad looks legit and promising...but when you hire in it is a different reality. When you ask your boss for what was promised in the classified ad they will say "Oh that was just a typo". Then when you try to discuss it with the owner(s) they get aggressive with you. They will attempt to turn it around to make you look like the bad guy. If you think it can't really be that bad, then hire in and find out.
I've worked there for a little bit over 4 months they are a great company to work for they treat you like family they treat you with respect and dignity very accommodating to a person's unique needs, they have excellent equipment that is meticulously maintained, also great pay and benefits. It has been a privilege being a part of matrix.
Management is solid, and the company culture is positive. However, this is more of a transitional company rather than a long-term career option. Perks end after the first year, raises are infrequent, and vacation pay is a fixed base rate, meaning you might receive only a fraction of your weekly earnings.
The team is supportive and always willing to assist, especially new CDL drivers. If any issues arise, help is dispatched immediately. They ensure drivers stay busy.
What’s the best part of working here? They are accommodating and treat employees with respect. Their equipment is meticulously maintained. What’s the most stressful aspect? The job itself isn’t stressful, but the trucking industry can be—waiting at docks, being away from home, etc. What’s the work environment like? The atmosphere is positive, and employees are treated with respect. What’s a typical day like? Generally smooth and straightforward.
No matter how much effort you put in, they don’t care. They claim to be a family-oriented company, but when emergencies arise, they show no support. Drivers are overloaded with multiple loads, each requiring separate paperwork, and then rushed to deliver the first load. The amount of paperwork required on the road is far more than they disclose during orientation. Avoid working here.
What’s the best part of working here? They go out of their way to help, whether you’re delivering a load or need time off for personal matters. You’re treated as part of the business, not just a driver making them money. They strive to make your job as easy as possible. 🙂 What’s the most stressful aspect? Traffic in certain cities can be overwhelming, and delays occur when dispatch incorrectly reports load availability. What’s the work environment like? Friendly and supportive. The owners check in on employees and assist where needed.
The owners lack respect for employees outside the office. They push workers to the limit until they quit.
Pay is among the lowest in the area. However, it’s a great place for new drivers to gain experience. Equipment, staff, and management are top-notch. No forced dispatch, which is a plus. Glad I started here!
Training lasted 2–3 weeks and was thorough, covering QUALCOMM usage, freight tracking, and driving skills. I enjoyed both local and OTR work. The team is friendly, supportive, and always available to answer questions. Best job I’ve had!
I disliked working in that discriminatory environment. If your company operates similarly, do me a favor—don’t offer me a job or contact me.
Pay is low. They frequently interrupt sleep with unnecessary two-way radio messages that could wait until drivers are out of the sleeper berth. Did I mention the low pay?
I love working for Matrix! The staff is fantastic—I appreciate them every day. The team environment is strong, and the company is family-oriented. Benefits are decent, and the business is thriving. Great place to start a career.
1. Recruiting ethics need improvement. 2. Pay per mile should be clearly outlined in writing for new hires. 3. Mileage should be calculated from zip code to zip code, not address to address. 4. Driver address records need updating.
I worked in their dedicated division hauling heavy forged parts for AAM. The job was enjoyable—decent truck, most weekends off, and a relaxed atmosphere. However, the pay wasn’t sufficient. Management ignored concerns until turnover became a major issue, forcing them to reluctantly offer raises. Additionally, my boss engaged in deceptive practices, such as misclassifying personal days as sick days, preventing them from carrying over. Their sign-on bonus is misleading—it’s paid out over two years instead of one, with taxes deducted each time. They also advertise for "tri-axle" experience but assign drivers heavier five-axle trailers at the same pay rate. The final straw was a mandatory Saturday meeting without compensation. Employees skipped these meetings in protest, so management made attendance mandatory. I filed a wage claim and won, but Matrix retaliated by firing me and classifying it as a voluntary resignation to block unemployment benefits. No severance pay was provided. Their "open door policy" is a facade—raising concerns leads to hostility and intimidation. Management gets defensive when confronted about pay inconsistencies. They constantly find excuses to avoid paying fair wages. The biggest issue? Matrix prioritizes cost-cutting over fair compensation, creating a conflict between drivers trying to earn a living and a company focused on minimizing expenses. The irony is that they shortchange drivers and then wonder why they struggle to retain employees. NEWSFLASH: Drivers talk to each other!
