They’ve made my life so much easier
They’re super transparent about costs
While the service was generally good, I did experience a slight delay
They should definitely improve their tracking system to keep customers better informed
Driver that was in Winona Mn. 1-8-24 @ 9:55am, must think he owns the road. Comes to a stop at all intersections on a through st., and guessing that the driver doesn't know what turn signals are for, as they don't use them. If you see one of their semi's stay away from them as your LIFE might depend on it.
Bums they're owned by smith transport llc out of roaring Springs, pa
I went through Millis training in Cartersville. Very proud to work for them. Dispatcher is great. Always work with me on home Time. Concerned now for the future because of the Heartland buyout...but Millis's reputation is top notch.
You drive nice equipment and the people leave you alone. But you won't get good miles. They only give miles to their special drivers. Yes you will get good miles but the moon is only full sometimes.
Spent two years with Millis. Loved being there and the life they provided me. Had to move on to be home more but was one of the best companies I ever worked for.
Impossible to get a hold of. Tried calling to let them know a driver had no trailer lights. It said to call another number and when i did it just took me through 30 minutes of surveys and government questions. What a joke.
I been with this company for almost a year driving tor and i like it.(1) the trucks & trailers are VERY nice with the logo (2) they have company vehicle(3) they cook for drivers (offer school and let you go out with trainer then tests for cdl when ready(4)tell them it's not safe to drive in whether and they don't rush you (5)provide cable and satellite radio(6)good pay(7)plenty of terminals(8)I get home on time 98% if not the I get home time extended(9)alot of drop & hooks loads(10 )good communication...i can keep going
I worked for them sept 2011 to sept 2012 was a excellent uniform company and have no one to blame but my self for reason i parted with them i still think to this day was 1 of the best companys i have drove for
They really take great care of there employees fantastic company I'm glad I got the chance and many more opportunities to meet everyone can't wait to go back.
Great company to work for. Rather you looking for long haul or regional to be home every weekend they have you covered. Trucks are set up with driver comfort in mind. One of the best I have worked for.
Drivers are terrible on road. Whoever was on 65 south in Indiana on 7/28/23 at 6:40 pm (older white male, Grey hair) almost ran into us twice and held up traffic for 20 minutes by driving in the left lane next to another truck. Take his CDL away.
The truck driver with the trailer 19233 today in Lacrosse probably was not paying attention. He swerved over into our lane with 2 vehicles in front of my husband and I. Making 3 vehicle going into the middle of on coming traffic. Sir if you were paying attention you could've slowed down. Maybe if your tired call the company and let them know you'll be late so there will be no future accidents. I called a number on Google to complain but they did not sound like they will take this matter seriously. Just wanted more than 1 other person to know
Just started here and so far paychecks been around 250 last couple weeks regional.. I dont see what's so great about that.. if things don't look up by next week.. something has to change. You cant work for someone like this... when you're trying to support your family.. what are these crazy companies thinking when they employ you??? And then they wonder why they have a high turn over rate?? Is this what heartland Express does to your drivers?.
Definitely not the same company they were before Heartland took over. Threats of termination based on leaving for a family member death then no response from anyone. Top notch “family” company here.
You don't just get a job with Millis, you join a family. Millis is the elite company of the trucking industry.
I went through MTI and then fulfilled my one year obligation with Millis and from start to finish it was an outstanding experience. If I were looking to be a company driver I would recommend Millis, especially for new drivers. I only left because I was starting my own carrier business.
Great company to start with and work for!
Millis has been an awesome place to work. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working here. There have been some hiccups along the way but in all seriousness the people in BRF have gone out of their way to see that I’ve been taken care of. The miles are here if you want them. Jim W is simply the best dispatcher there is. Tell them how you want to run and they will give you the freight. 3-4000 miles a week was pretty common for me. I never had a issue getting home either. I went through the school here as well and can honestly say it’s the best bang for your buck. Simply put there isn’t another training program that pays as well as millis does. I really don’t have a negative thing to say I would recommend millis to anyone. Loved my time here and if this new venture doesn’t pan out I’ll definitely be asking to come back.
An okay job for beginners, though the pay feels low, especially after gaining two years of experience. The people are very nice and family-oriented.
What is the best part of working at the company? A very professional company with fair driver managers. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? None—there’s no stress as long as you do your job. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Laid-back atmosphere with clean DCs that include showers and many amenities.
What is the best part of working at the company? A very good company to work for; I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? None—driver managers are great to work with, and everyone else I’ve met has been wonderful.
I obtained my CDL through them in 2021. It was a fantastic program, and the pay during training with a trainer stood out compared to other companies. I know things have changed since I left.
After nearly six months of employment, I’d say the onboarding process was quick for experienced drivers—it only took 3.5 days from speaking with a recruiter to my first job. Work can be challenging at times, but prioritizing safety is key. Clear communication of expectations is important, as this isn’t a company that micromanages or holds hands. I haven’t had issues, as everyone strives to keep things running smoothly. Dispatch even checks if jobs are okay before enforcing them, which is crucial. I’d highly recommend this company for those entering trucking. Equipment issues are promptly fixed, and trucks are well-maintained and fairly new.
If you're just starting out and prefer not to go OTR, this is a good-paying job where you’ll learn proper trailer backing techniques. I’ve only been on the job for two weeks and will see how I feel after a month.
Just another OTR company now owned by Heartland. Millis used to be decent but has devolved into a typical mega carrier, with unreliable dispatch and lack of care for drivers.
It transitioned from a family-run business that valued drivers into a corporate operation treating trucks and drivers as commodities. Amenities in the trucks have declined over the years.
Still a good place to work, even with the slowing economy. They keep drivers as busy as possible. Trucks are equipped with DirectTV, fridges, and are well-maintained, operating at 70 mph.
A good company for gaining experience. The job is what you make of it. Dispatch was generally good and addressed truck issues effectively. Miles were usually consistent.
This is a decent company to start with. They train you, help you get your CDL, and let you run solo. Don’t expect a new truck; they keep trucks for four years now. Having a good dispatcher makes all the difference—getting on their bad side will make your life tough. Trucks undergo maintenance every 10,000 miles, but bigger issues are sent to dealerships, often leading to long wait times. You’ll average 2,000 miles and face waitlists 80% of the time.
The company provides solid training, though there’s a shortage of trainers—I’ve been waiting for three weeks. My previous trainer shouldn’t even be considered one. Still, it seems like a good company to start with.
What is the best part of working at the company? The company is great overall, though trainers need standardization and a clear system in place. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Nothing—it’s a straightforward job: drive, sleep, repeat. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Millis had a great reputation, but the finishers and trainers fell short. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Driving, which doesn’t bother me.
It’s a decent starter job once you finish school. Though work is slow now, you can sometimes exceed 3,000 miles a week. There are no out-of-pocket costs, and reimbursements come later, unlike some other companies.
This company used to stand out but is slowly turning into just another trucking operation since Heartland’s purchase. Restrictions have increased, and useful truck and trailer features that improved safety and ease have been lost.
A great CDL starter company for those seeking to enter the industry. - Excellent equipment. - Nice terminals. - Decent pay. - Great home time. - Competent management.
I love my job and feel like I’m living my childhood dream—it doesn’t feel like work but another day in paradise! My dispatch team is amazing, and the whole team operates smoothly. No concerns here.
What is the best part of working at the company? The training program for new drivers is excellent, with nearly new equipment and good service. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Miles-based pay isn’t easy to earn. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Online resources provide useful delivery information. A strong driver network shares job-related insights and tips. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Typical OTR driving, with most loads allowing night or daytime travel.
The job is what you make of it. Dispatch was pretty good and addressed truck issues effectively. However, starting pay felt unfairly low. Gain experience here and move on as needed.
This is a great company to work for—I enjoyed my time there. The transition to Heartland ownership has been challenging, but I’d consider returning. Dispatch was reliable, and I averaged 2,800–3,200 miles weekly.
