Thank you for the opportunity to work with northern logistics first Cdl job fresh out of school so far this week has been stupendous. The training is great and very detailed. I feel that this will be my first and last company I will work for. They are very knowledgeable i’m grateful to land in great company like this. I feel I will be a great fit.
I worked for Northern Logistics for about 5 years. Great Company to work for. Dispatch and operations were awesome!! They were always helpful in any situation that arose. I really enjoyed the time I worked for the company. And all the Ladies in the office were awesome too. I would recommend for anyone that is interested in working for them.
I’ve been driving with Northern for just over 3 months now. Dispatch does a good job of keeping you moving and understanding issues that you face as a driver. And the management is ran really good. Couldn’t ask for a better company to work for.
Awesome team! I went through the school and everyone worked really well together to ensure the students were receiving all of the help they needed. Really supportive through the learning process
Everyone is really nice here. That to me makes a job enjoyable is when you work with good people
I really enjoy working for this company, my dispatch team behind keeps me moving and informed on what's next I couldnt ask for a better experience thanks norlo family
Northern Logistics has been the best freight company that I have ever dealt with. Their drivers and personnel are always professional and polite. They are always on time and I could not see our company using anyone else. Thank you Northern Logisitics for all you do for us. TJ
I have with quite a few trucking companies throughout the years. Northern has been one of my favorite companies.
I've been working with Northern Logistics for about a year now. They are always able to save the day in a moment of need and be flexible with their rates. On top of all of that they have some of the best service I've seen from a carrier.
Great company that treats employees and families like they are family! Owner is amazing & always helping the employees to put God & family first!!!.
I work at ATS Fleet Service in Mt Pleasant. We found a truck for sale in California, and I asked Northern Logistics to pick it up and bring it here. Everything was perfect! Awesome service from California to Michigan, with great communication the entire turn! Thanks Team NorLo!
After 15 years of driving experience and working for 4 different companies, this is the best company I have worked for and will continue to work for a long time. If you are looking for a perfect company, you won't find it, but in my opinion, this is as close as you will get.
My friend works there WOW what a cool place. We had to wait for our friend to come back from up north and one of the guys came out to check on us 3 gals, he was so nice and kept an eye on us till our friend came in after midnight a long night but he loves working for the company. We wish there more bosses ran their business like the boss here.
Good company until you get burned out and then some of the management will talk badly about you behind your back very unprofessional do not suggest going there
Really nice people in the management department showed me around the place yesterday all because I'm looking for a job and I just walked in of the street looking for a job and he treated me like a person which was nice.
Okay pay no overtime pay. They will Run your clock to the limit. might even make you run out of hours to pick loads up then find a way to get you home if you're a local drvier
Miserable is the only way to describe working here. They'll tell you what you want to hear but as soon as you walk out the door they start bad mouthing you to other drivers in the driver's room. Equipment is junk. They don't care about seniority. The guy who started 2 weeks ago can get a brand new truck while someone who's been there for years is pushing 600k miles in an old wore out truck. Dispatch will push you to the breaking point and beyond.
Unethical and downright pushy dispatchers. They push you to drive in unsafe weather conditions, making you feel as if your job is on the line. If the roads are bad and you know you aren't safe to drive, they expect you to drive to the yard and waste your gas instead of calling in, otherwise you're looked at as someone who just wanted the day off and you get reprimanded. If the roads are unsafe, it's unsafe in my personal vehicle too!!! Management/dispatchers will do everything they can to make your life miserable if you aren't one of their select few favorites. If you don't play their little games you're in for a miserable career. They say they care, but if you raise any concerns they will immediately try making you feel like you're a horrible employee that doesn't want to work. Some of the dispatchers need to remember that drivers are the only reasons they have jobs! A driver will have a job with OR without an "operations" team breathing down their neck.
In my 1 year and 6 months of experience here at northern ive genuinely felt very connected and well respected here. This company genuinely cares about its drivers and employees and will do everything in its power to help remedy any situations or problems you have at work or in your personal life. The work life balance for me as a OTR driver has been perfect. And whenever i need time off even if its last minute they have always made it happen. Ive reccomend northern to many friends and they have all stayed here for over 6 months and are all very happy with their positions. This is a very safety conscious company that puts safety before anything else. They are very transparent on the buisnesses background and processes.
I have been here for just over 5 years now. More than happy, dispatch is understanding with any issues at home. The owner cares about my family and always asks if there is anything that I may need. The culture here is what I like the most. It is focused on safety and a very family-friendly atmosphere. The trucks are all very new and well maintained equipment. The owner is one of a kind. He sets the standard and expectations for everyone within the company. He cares about my family and always asks if there is anything that I may need.
Northern has a very good culture and is an awesome place to work for. They offer safety bonuses for the entire company and personal bonuses as well. Would highly recommend working here.
Northern is a great place to work with opportunity for advancement. The owner is one of the most generous people I have ever met / worked for. Drivers and office personnel are very friendly and easy to get along with. I hope to be here for the long haul!
started fresh out of school. was trained very well. always got the hours I needed and time off when I needed it. management has always been very fair and understanding.
Northern used to be a great little family company but they changed for the worst. They will Micromanage you in the name of "safety" and run you into the dirt, tell you how to log your time, and try guilting you into doing extra ALL the time. They are trying to become a mega carrier and it shows. Expect to get told how to do your job regardless how long you've been doing it or how clean your record is. They say one thing to appease you and do the opposite. If you go 3 or 4 over the speed limit you can expect to be reprimanded, meanwhile they have drivers backing into people in parking lots because they just got their CDL at Northern "Trucking school" and were tossed to the wolves. Dispatch has favorites and most have no idea what we go thru in the trucks but are quick to tell you how to do your job. Burnout is real here. They have mandatory driver meetings a few times a year where we get to listen to the same things over and over each time. They say it's an opportunity to give suggestions, but they don't implement them. Communication is terrible. You can text dispatch and get absolutely no response back. They don't tell you what their plans are for upcoming loads, so you're left wondering until they decide to tell you. They also give the brokers your phone number so they can call you 15 times a day and all night, and expect driver's to install tracking apps on their phone for them. Pay is a joke (no overtime pay but you can expect to work 14hr days 5-6 days a week). If you go OTR the pay is a little better but if you run hard and get back to MI in good timing at the end of the week, your hopes of going home before sunset are quickly crushed by being sent allover MI for mileage pay while they send the local hourly drivers home early. They used to be a great company but I'm planning on leaving
Most truck drivers work in this industry to have freedom and flexibility to do their job the best way they can. Well, not at Northern!! They'll micromanage you in the name of "safety" and tell you every little thing you could possibly be doing wrong to them, regardless of your perfect record. Local pay is trash no overtime pay but you can expect to be ran into the dirt. OTR can expect to do local work half the week so they can pay you mileage pay for short runs all over MI. Sad this company used to be great but all they care about now is figuring out how they can get the most work out of you with the least amount of pay. Oh and those "safety bonuses" they're so proud of themselves about are not individualized. You can do great all year long, but if the new guy they trained at their "trucking school" messes up 2 weeks into having their CDL, you lose your bonus. Might as well go find another mega company to drive for that at least doesn't bother you every single day about going 5mph over the speed limit.
What is the best part of working at the company? Dispatch doesn't understand logbook, hours of operation or what it means to be local driver. Many promises fir increase in pay. Only excuses received. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Dispatch is argumentative and verbally threatening What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It them and you. Just another drop in the bucket. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Go here and there and also make sure you get your dedicated route done as well
Was a good place when I started but soon they got to big for their own good and started treating veteran drivers like we were stupid. Trucks way to slow, preach safety but practically force you to drive in unsafe winter weather conditions.. completely change your schedule without even giving you a heads up. Pay was good.. I'll give them that. Other than that would not recommend working here
Okay pay no overtime pay. They will Run your clock to the limit. might even make you run out of hours to pick loads up then find a way to get you home if you're a local drvier
What is the best part of working at the company? Certain staff members act like bosses when they have no authority and employees can go above and beyond for the company and get treated poorly and told they have no choice but to do what told What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Driving in the winter What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Work in a truck solo so depends how you set it for yourself most drivers are friendly, dispatch is incompetent in van trailer side What is a typical day like for you at the company? No 2 days alike routes constantly change hours constantly change, can work 14 hours one day and 2 the next never know till the day comes
Great place to work , loved the job would recommend somebody to work there it’s a cool place to work it was fun nomtouch freight pay is biweekly thou
Not a bad company good people pay wasn’t bad on the run I had trucks were decent had a glider and a dedicated run. Would return they are definitely good people.
Started here fresh out of trucking school. trainers were fantastic. always kept me busy even during the slow times. worked with me when i moved to stay with the company management is great dispatcher's are a good. great place to work fresh out of school. trainers will give you the tools you need to be successful.
Was a small trucking company but they are starting to act like a mega carrier was a great company to work for until they started changing how they operate
They say whatever you want to hear to get you in the door then the moment you bring something up that was said in your interview process you are told you have too many personal problems and you are not a fit person to be behind the wheel you ask about policies and you’re told you’re trying to change the company you try to learn anything at all you will be separate from the company
People are great. High stress from dispatch. Low pay. Expensive health benefits. Decent equipment. Must take vacation day to ensure ability to make appointments.
Good place to work.. Good mangement. Good people... They also have good equipment and getting new everday..... Has positions for everyone and every driver
Wouldn’t refer anyone to work here. Over worked and under paid. 14 hour days, no paid over time and pay is bi weekly. If you want to spend time with your family don’t work here
