Horrible is all I can say about this company, We were supposed have a scheduled pickup yesterday. No show, no call, nothing. Paid an employee overtime to wait around until 6pm even though they said they would be there no later than 3pm. Called today and was told they ran out of room on the truck yesterday(excuse) but was told they would be there by 230 this evening. Today my employee waited until 330pm when suddenly watched Oak Harbor driver pass our driveway twice appearing lost, had employee waving the driver down who just drove straight by. I immediately called Oak Harbor. While on the phone with Oak Harbor the CSR said "an exception" for the pickup just came through she said shoot one minute while I call the driver. She comes back on and says well we will have to do it tomorrow. I inform her this was supposed to be done yesterday and it was promised today that's when her attitude shifted. She then says well he cant make it now because he's.... now sick. So here we go with the excuse train. Step one - its not that hard to make a call to inform your customers that you wont be able to make it for what ever excuse you want to use. No matter.. BUT follow step one and inform the customer ahead of time not after nor not at all! HOW in the world are you still in business? Hands down one of the worst companies I have ever had to deal with. And yes CSR, I did leave a review like promised. There are plenty of better run companies out there. I would stay away from this clown show.

Great experience. Dispatch was helpful, and even replied at 9:30 at night to a message I sent via their website. (I was worried that they would send a truck too big to use our turnaround.) Delivery driver was professional and experienced, and super cheerful. Great communication. Great service. ----Later Had to change my review. I had such a good initial experience that I called Oak Harbor to handle a shipment for me. After giving me a quote and a greenlight and costing me $300 in shipment change charges, they suddenly decided they wouldn't take delivery of a greenhouse kit and then deliver locally to us. So now I've had to pay another $300 to change my shipment info again. So... $600 dollars later and being the recipient of several snippy emails, I'm screwed. AVOID.

I waited a total of 12 hours on three different days for my pallet to be picked up. No call, no show, no pickup. Dispatch was unable to locate the driver each day after telling me they would be there within the hour. They have lost my business for life. Pathetic!

Good rates, decent service. Bad billing agents. Be aware that they will tack on random fees without justification. You have to call and argue with them to get them to remove the fees. Then they repeat the same behavior again on the next shipment. It's clearly a money grab attempt. Also be aware that if you are due any monies from this company, you have to call and request it regularly, or they simply won't send it out. A few of our shipments have been damaged because they took it upon themselves to palatize them without approval. Then try to hit us for a reweigh fee, lift gate, etc - very scummy business practices.

Went to an interview with these guys, They tried to get me to start the onboarding process before making me an offer on pay. Made me feel like they were trying to find something to leverage lesser pay. Is over all the shop manager was a really nice guy. But the job wasn't a great fit for someone who owns expensive tools and does not want them outside in the rain. I was looking forward to going to work for these guys but the way they conducted the hiring process just really turned me off to the idea. I generally need to sleep on things a little bit not just get rushed in the door.

This the worst place that I have ever worked. No one knows what they are doing and who is incharge. They told me they were going to train me as long as needed and then they never had either someone to train or they pair me with someone taht have no time for me. When I ask fir help, no one helps. Worst 9 months of my life. This place needs to be sued. They break the rules all the time..

Be prepared to be hit with extra charges. I have used Oak Harbor numerous times and I am done with them. There is always an additional charge. You get a quote and there is still a charge of some kind they tack on. Rural delivery sur-charge, will call notification charge, residential charge (because your business is in a residential areal) No issues with the drivers, they have always been good or I would have given 1 star. Complaining to the last driver about these add on fees he tells me about how the last company meeting they are bragging up record profits. Well no more from me. There are a lot of freight companies out there, can't be greedier that Oak.

Only because I can't give them 0 stars. Have a refrigerator they were supposed to deliver last week. I postponed it to this upcoming Tuesday--when I was able to get off work to have the thing delivered. Get a call this am and am told they sent it to CA accidentally and can't deliver until wed or thurs. I asked to get delivery after work hours so I didn't have to take another day off of my new job, and they told me they didn't care and only pick up freight at 6pm. They are unwilling to make an exception for their mistake, nor are they willing to do anything to remedy the situation other than return to sender. Terrible customer service (especially the manager Peggy). If you want a straightforward, hassle free experience, stay far away from these people.

Upon hire, I was told P&D drivers could make up to $70K—maybe after a decade, working 12-hour days with overtime. They seem to think drivers don’t know how to do the math. Hourly pay is decent, but on swing shifts (where you’ll start), 5-hour days are common—expect to "call it" at 8 PM after starting at 3 PM multiple times a month. Was told I’d occasionally fill in for a hostler, but in reality, it happens several times a week as a new P&D driver. The dispatchers and managers on the 2 PM - 11 PM shift are dating, favoring some drivers while dumping extra work on others—truck assignments and schedules reflect their preferences. Office management is disconnected from the yard—dispatch does whatever it wants, and its decisions are final. Most trucks are nearing a million miles—I once red-tagged three trucks in two days. If you prefer to quietly do your job and avoid workplace politics, you might get by, but expect high school-style social dynamics.

If the company is profitable, employees benefit too. Full-time staff receive bonuses, time off is easy to get, and pay is fair for the workload.

A highly judgmental workplace where favoritism dictates treatment. Drivers are given write-ups for no reason, and time-off requests are only honored if management likes you. They treat different drivers inconsistently—an overall toxic company to work for.

What’s the best part of working here? Great pay and strong terminal management. What’s the most stressful aspect? Dispatchers are often disorganized and poor at communication. How’s the company culture? Work environment varies depending on the moods of individuals. What’s a typical workday like? Long driving hours.

What’s the best part of working here? Seniority holds no value. No recovery time from injuries—no light-duty assignments. What’s the biggest challenge? Physically demanding work and unpredictable dispatching. How’s the workplace culture? A "my way or the highway" mentality. They claim to listen, but only to those who align with their views. What’s a typical workday like? First, wait for a text dispatch—usually around 5:30 AM, often with only two hours’ notice, sometimes less. Expect several "ASAP" situations. Upon arrival, a tractor is assigned, and tasks for the day are given. Regardless of workload, drivers must take a 30-minute "lunch" break—even if inconvenient. Most shifts are 10-12 hours, though some run longer or shorter.

Overall, I enjoyed working here, but their outdated equipment needs replacing. A lot of heavy pallets, handled manually with a pallet jack. They load items that don’t suit a box trailer—things better suited for flatbeds.

What’s the best part of working here? Nothing—too much work for too little pay. What’s the biggest challenge? Daily deliveries of damaged pallets. How’s the workplace culture? Unprofessional with low morale. What’s a typical workday like? Stressful, with no clear career direction.

One of the worst places I’ve worked. Hours fluctuated wildly—either too much work or not enough. Fleet is outdated. Management doesn’t trust employees and dismisses concerns. Pay is average, but long-time employees make the same as new hires. This job made me realize I dislike truck driving.

Expect longer-than-8-hour shifts at this terminal, depending on the season and staffing levels. Routes run in the morning and afternoon, followed by box swaps at night. Benefits are strong, and pay is good—though other companies pay better. Drivers and dock workers are friendly. Management leaves you alone if you handle your responsibilities.

What’s the best part of working here? A decent company, but management dropped the ball—forcing drivers to travel through storms. What’s the biggest challenge? Work ethic stands out here—management cooperates across all levels. As long as you do your job, you’ll be fine. Communication is essential—dispatch is flexible if you need to leave early. I wish the dock-to-driver program moved faster. Despite some flaws, I’d rather earn slightly less and stay than go elsewhere. Good company overall, based on comparisons with others. Equipment is decent—the only thing I’d want is weekly pay.
