Driver almost ran me off the road 3/29 2:09 pm mile marker 103 going hwy 81 northbound. Changed lanes while climbing a hill cut into the passing lane without checking for clearance. Please address and thank you.
As a driver I can tell you this is a great company to work for. They care about getting you home every week and will even deadhead you home if there’s no freight coming out of that area. If you’re looking for a carrier to move your freight I know these guys take customer service seriously. They have many happy customers that get their shipment on time and intact. Other ltl companies have slower transit times and they trans load your freight at multiple terminals which often leads to damage.
Whoever the driver is for unit 389155 will kill someone on the road. They were cutting in and out of tight traffic on I26 on 12/23/24. Driver didn’t use any signals and cut people off to the point they were swerving to avoid them. I thought CDL drivers were professional drivers, what a joke. They about hit my family several times. I wonder if Penske knows how your driver treats their vehicle.
Super friendly, family owned trucking company. Working with them is always a great experience.
One of your drivers tried to sideswipe me in traffic on 77 this afternoon in Charlotte, NC. We were in traffic and he was far enough back where I could safely move over to his lane but as soon as I signaled and started to change lanes he sped up but there was still time and space for me to proceed. He then moved to the non truck lane on my left and entered my lane by about 2 feet to try to get his trailer to whip into my truck, his trailer number was CR532003. He continued to advance in traffic to try to get away from the occurrence so I couldn't see his truck number but I did get his trailer number. He exited the interstate about 5-10 miles south. If he can't deal with traffic he shouldn't be in that seat.
I dropped off a Corvette bumper that I had repaired and painted for someone in another state. Palmetto State Transportation made the check-in process and weighing very easy. I'm sure it will arrive safely to its destination with this transportation company. They are excellent! I have used them for several other transport jobs and always been happy with their work.
I throughly enjoy working here. Seldom do drivers work with dispatchers that are respectful of drivers and each other. I can’t say enough about the guys in the shop either.
The driver for truck who has a license plate 22541pt wouldn’t let me into the interstate!! He was going so fast and disregarded anybody else that was driving! He didn’t merge when he completely could have! I was stuck so I had to drive on the side of the road until I was able to get on the interstate!
Seen your driving skills on Truckers Wall of Shame UNCENSORED, backed into a parked vehicle not once got out to look before damaging parked semi. If you can park in a truck stop you surely aint skilled enough to drive on other commercial property.
Haven't worked for them, but did haul one of their loads out of the warehouse. Had no issues at either end so 5 stars.
Great people to work with. They have always been quick and efficient
I been working here 5 yrs as a OTR driver. Seen a lot of are beautiful country!
My dad Charles Hurst worked here for 24 years. This company is loyal, caring, and beyond great to work for. They have great benefits, well running and comfortable trucks, offices are very clean and organized, and the atmosphere is friendly. I appreciate all they have done for my dad and family and hope to work here one day!
Great company to drive for. All other companies claim to care about their drivers but this company actually does. Truly a family atmosphere. Good runs, good pay, and nice, newer equipment.
My husband and I are team drivers here, and they are an excellent company!! This is a company you retire at.
Some of the nicest people you will ever meet!
Very clean rest area
Still trying to get in touch
Very good people's. Transfer trucks
Great place to work
Good place to work friendly dispatchers
What can I say. Great people to work with.
Nice lease trucks, so so trailers. Pay is okay if you get at least 1800 miles. Usually get 34 hours off on weekend. Timeout is flexible 1 week paid. Don't listen to drivers. Trucks dirty, get washed by a company once a month, and leaves a film of dirt behind. No bonuses. They have you deliver loads upon return that you lose money on versus time spent. Company has otr, regional and local drivers, who get paid hourly to do what you get paid by mile to do.
Palmetto is a great place for a driver over all. They care about their drivers and the families of their drivers. The pay is very good and they keep you rolling; especially for teams. They have safety bonuses and even hold dinners and cook outs for drivers.
They will make you take runs to the northeast with garbage equipment. You might make 60k a year if they pay you for everything. The safety director is an ex state trooper and extremely unrealistic. Teams barely make more than solos.
Great company, great pay, excellent miles. We love working here. Family oriented , time off is flexible. Newer equipment. This is a company you retire at.
Don't waste your time. ALWAYS have problems with everyone of their trailers. And the places we go to shouldn't have tractor trailers delivering their stuff. Can never get in or out..
Not a good place to work, if you're looking for a good retirement go somewhere else. Management/safety/pay roll dept no good at all. Benefits are not great. When you leave the company they bad mouth you to the employers sending references so that you can better yourself
E-Logs must be correct. Safety 100% at all times. all maintenance issues must be fixed before leaving yard . scale trailer before leaving yard. try to get to deliveries on time
A great job with great benefits. With Palmetto State I was able to travel the lower 48 with a flexible schedule. I was able to see most of the US.....
Palmetto State was the average truck driving job. Pay was not over the top, but fair. Slip seating is the norm at Palmetto State. Constant changing trucks, no taking the truck home. Sleeping where other drivers slept, dealing with other drivers "belongings", damaged trucks/trailers, last minute loads, hunting load locks are all part of the deal.
Now considering this review is over four years after I left, things could have changed. The pay was pretty good, but conditions were sometimes less than optimal. What I mean by that is sometimes you didn't get all you needed from them to do your job, i.e. not having placards for hazardous materials loads, and due to no one in the office, unable to get the required placards. I must reiterate that this culture may have changed since I left more than four years ago.
