I want to share some POSITIVE experiences with your drivers. Your driver Mark (don't have a truck # but he's from Arkansas and drives the conestoga) decided to graciously get out of his truck and walk about 100 yards to come help me wrestle my tarps into submission, it's about 30mph winds down here in Richland Wa 03.23.2023, and he not only helped me get one tarp to submit to the roll, he also helped me get the second one too even assisting in some crime scene clean up picking up bungy cords that got tossed into the gravel but also the plastic wrap and the 50ft long × 20ft wide felt rolled up. He really helped out today, he kept some hope alive that drivers are still a team out here. Most other conestoga drivers have watched me in the past which doesn't help the mood much... but today's unsung hero is Mark. Somebody let him know he is a great man. Great conversation as well. Had nothing but GREAT things to say about SPD as well, he said he loves it there an you guys treat him extremely well!! Good hire SPD, 👌

Still a good place to work. Newer equipment, and friendly office staff. Still has a family atmosphere, but you can sense the corporate influence at work. 2 years here, seen "good" changes & "meh" changes.

This use to be a great company, but their parent company (Daseke) has decided to connect them to E.W. Wylie (one of the worst flatbed operations in the country to work for, only slightly better than Western Express flatbed). They claim we won't be totally merged into Wylie, but with every change they make, SPD is becoming just like Wylie. From new equipment to policies they are becoming a Wylie doppelganger. It might say SPD on the door, but it becoming Wylie in every other way. They are changing pay plans. They make it sound like you're getting a raise, but like every other mega-wantabe company, where they give with one hand, they take away with the other. They're cutting tarp pay in half, they are taking away the flat rate safety and productivity bonus and replacing it with a variable, per mile rate, that maxes out less than the previous flat rate. They're slowing down all their new trucks. They are getting a new integrated dashcam/eld system that has audible coaching (but for now, at least, the driver facing part of the camera will be covered, but like many other Daseke companies, you can bet they'll have to uncover it eventually). If you thought about working for Wylie, then you'll love it here. If you wouldn't work for Wylie if they were the last company on earth, then don't even consider SPD because other than the company logo on the door, they are essentially Wylie.

Overall this a decent company to work for ,the equipment is in good condition and most all the employees are very helpful and friendly . Were a team over here. Drivers aren't afraid to get dirty and lend a hand to each other. Office staff are very nice and helpful open door policy far as the reviews that say the pay is great ,its not bad at all. I came here thinking maybe there grass might be greener and it was. They do have direct TV and refrigerator's in all trucks!! Any real smart good quality driver will be happy here. So happy there's still good company's like this out here!!

The people that work here are amazing! They go out of their way to help you and make you feel at home like you are family. The yard is very clean and well maintained. There is plenty of parking for your personal car and the yard is secure access after hours with plenty of surveillance cameras.

I have never worked for a company who is so focused on a drivers happiness or well being. The equipment is top notch with everything you could want to make it home. Satellite TV with channels like HBO and Cinimax not to mention the NFL SUNDAY TICKET!!! I have seen this company bend over backwards to help its drivers in their and my time of need without thought of cost. They are remarkably honest in their style of recruiting all the way to the open door of the CEO. Thank you SPD

My husband worked for them, it started out as a great company and went down hill the last couple months that he worked there. He would wait days in between loads and he would put home time in weeks in advance and they still couldn't get him home on time.

This company is terrible for teams if you like to run. The trucks are decent most of the conestoga trailers are junk they definitely are not maintained like they should be. There whole salary and bonus program is a gimmick. You will never make the bonus money and take your time off. They even appreciate their teams so much that they cut our pay during the weekly Facebook forum during drivers appreciation week. We were 3 days from our 6 months and they still charged us back for orientation, transportation and hotel. Safety also has a habit of going in and changing and certifying your logs when you are off. They even left us a voicemail that they did. They do have good benefits and our dispatcher was great. The majority of the people there are really good. The management is definitely shady and a lot of smoke and mirrors. I can’t speak for solos I only ran as a team! Overall there is a ton of better companies out there so make sure you do your do diligence with SPD.

Oh, what a web we weave, when we practice to deceive. In orientation, in their words, we do not micromanage you. Bullcrap. Their camera is their eyes & ears(and still not knowing the truth) This is a company to stay away from. There is no emotion in this company in the human aspect! They just don't care! I was abandoned in PA, in one of their yards. I'll make you understand that the truck I drove and all my stuff and my dog. And abandoned in PA. I'm just one! Of many to come after me! I found a way to get home, never with their help. Again! I am one of many to come after me! I'll stay away if you can feel, how I felt abandoned by this company! Not knowing any truth of me, Again! I am one of many to come after me!

A joke of a company. They lie to you, try to pry into your personal life, and look for ways to fire you on grounds that you are a racist if you don't bow before the head queen in HR and become the sheeple she thinks you should be. They are a garbage company with a fairly high turnover rate. There are much better places to work for. Don't believe the lies. And in response to Wendy Facklam's review, she is a washed out idiot who has no clue. She believed the lies of someone who played her and the company for the idiots they are. Wendy would rather spread lies about someone and believe the lies then actually figure things out for herself. Like the typical sheeple of Smokey Point, such as Wendy Facklam, Human Resources staff, and those who are in control, they are not family oriented as some would want you to believe. As much as I hate to say this, Swift Transportation is more family oriented then SPD. Go work somewhere where you get treated as a real driver, and don't believe their false promises.

I don’t have many complaints, but here are some areas that could improve: Allow direct communication with mechanics. Lower management often seems unnecessary. You’ll never be asked if you want home time. I appreciate that I’m left alone, likely because I handle my responsibilities.

What’s the best part of working at Smokey Point Distributing? The drivers. What’s the most stressful aspect? Office staff are overwhelmed with too many responsibilities, leading to inefficiencies—especially for drivers. Low miles, poor communication, long wait times between loads. Management talks a good game but doesn’t follow through. There are too many issues to list.

Every company has its pros and cons—SPD leans mostly positive. Pay is above average, and I’ve always received home time when requested. Some genuinely great people here who care about drivers, their loads, and equipment. It takes about a year to fully adjust to SPD’s system. After five years, I’m still here thanks to the people handling my assignments and communication. A couple of people in operations aren't great, but that’s not enough to make me leave—the positives outweigh the negatives.

What’s the best part of working here? A supportive team and positive atmosphere. What’s the biggest challenge? Working in tough weather conditions, especially securing loads in rain and snow. How’s the company culture? Relaxed but fast-paced—jeans, boots, and a hat are the norm.

Looking back, my experience was mostly positive. This used to be one of the best trucking companies, but things have changed with shifts in the business climate. Expect to run machinery from load boards, along with elevators. Pros: - Pay is salary-based—fair compensation for OTR and regional routes. - They adapt over time, genuinely trying to improve things. - Middle management and supervisors seem overworked but still prioritize driver concerns. - Frequent communication via YouTube updates. - Trucks are well-maintained. - Plenty of resources and room for growth. Cons: - Delivering to residential and inner-city locations is frustrating, with little guidance or useful contact info. - Navigating cities like Chicago, Boston, Philly, NYC, Nashville, and Miami is left entirely to drivers. - Internal office issues persist between sales, middle management, and upper management. - Technology and procedures are outdated, and office staff appear overworked and frustrated. Overall, this is a good place to gain flatbed, step-deck, and over-dimensional experience—then move on.

The new pay structure benefits drivers who prefer to keep moving. If you want frequent home time, this isn’t the right place—it’s designed for drivers who want to maximize earnings. Office staff are kind and know you by name. Highly professional and safety-oriented—this isn't for drivers who take risks. I really enjoyed working here, hauling aerospace and other flatbed cargo.

I’ve been at SPD for about two years—it’s a great place to work. Always running, earning good miles, and getting great pay. The only downside is the office’s excessive caution regarding COVID. Smokey Point Distributing will likely be the best company I ever work for. I’m only leaving because I’m becoming an owner-operator, and they don’t offer a lease purchase program.
