I don't want to say that they're perfect - no one is - but they're doing something right
Almost all trucks are new
At first glance, they look like just another trucking outfit - but dig a little deeper, and you'll uncover a tangled mess of connections and reasons
I've talked to drivers, owners, and customers, and each one has a different perspective on the company. I'm not sure what the truth is, but I do know that Summitt is worth a try
This is about orientation in Shepherdsville Kentucky. The place feels like a prison. Concrete walls no windows. No private showers or bathrooms. Your dwelling during orientation consist of a bed dresser dim lit lamp and TV. They require a new physical even if yours is up to date and seems like they try to force c pap machine on you. Recruiters do not prepare you for the conditions. Instead they lie about it.
Good company to work for. They care about their employees and the places they deliver to
The worst Company ever at first started off good. The recruiter orientation the first dispatcher was great but wen they switch my dispatcher she came off aggressive and rude, but I tried to be cool with her. I asked them to switch me with a different dispatcher so I guess she didn’t like that she for a reason to write me up I had to leave
R903 whoever drives this truck needs to be retrained at the minimum I would take away their CDL stopping in the middle of the road in the merge where only one lane is open is by far unacceptable not only did this driver back up traffic for 10 minutes doing God knows what but then he couldn't even maintain the speed limit to get traffic rolling again at the post and work zone speed limit going 20 mph under it. This driver is going to cause an accident your safety department needs to get on this.
Great company. Everyone cares about what the driver's goals are, not just the load. I've been here 3 years, and I plan on retiring here.
I drove to summit for 2 year great people meet there HR and dispachers friendly and profesional I miss all them
They do not value in there drivers at all Do not go to this company if you think you going make some money It counts on where you live to make money They don't pay for parking It's like duke and north Carolina State in the office they don't communicate They don't care about there trucks
Awful drivers your company have, got an encounter with one in snellville,ga. Old white dude got mad becuase on a heavy traffic day and also red light, the car in front of him moved so i saw space to change lanes which i did, i was in my motorcycle and i keep my left and he went forward to put his front tired next to me where i can feel the heat of the motor and start telling me he will run me over, he was an inch close to hit the car in front of me, glad i wasnt carring or i will of take that as a threat. by the way he perfectly saw me, and i was out of his way, i have video proof.
Been driving for Summitt for a year now. As an O/O if you won't to run hard you will. The dispatchers are really good ppl ( night dispatch there's one or two that doesn't won't to be there seems like but a majority of them are there if you need anything. I really can't say anything bad about my experience with them. Great company great work atmosphere. I made good money with the miles I ran.
Great company to work for! Everyone treats you like a family member versus a number! I recommend them if you want to feel at home!
Hopefully I get the job Summit trucking is amazing the people working in Clarksville indiana couldn't ask for a better group of people
I have worked for several Trucking companies in the last 10 or so years. I can honestly say I've been here a week since orientation and I've found a great family environment and a company that cares more about the driver than any I have ever worked for. I CAN SEE BEING HERE A LONG TIME THANKS SUMMITT
I worked here about 10 or 15 years ago. They are excellent folks to work with.
Love this place! Were running team out here on a dedicated ups route and couldnt ask for a better job:)
I’ve been with summitt as a team for almost six months. Very family oriented and care for their drivers. Haven’t had any issues with freight and 90% drop and hook. Very rarely we have to live load or unload. Which in turn keeps you moving. Been home every time we have asked to be. Thanksgiving, Christmas, death or emergency at home, or just to go home for a 34 to hug our kids. Can definitely see me retiring from this company.
As a Truck driver it's hard to find that one company u can actually drive in peace and make a decent leaving. But u don't have to take my word for it I just rather you come see for yourself this is truly a great place to drive for with consistent home time and wonderful benefits
This company is the best company to drive for, they answer the on first name base not your truck number, they get you home on time, the very family oriented and love showing driver appreciation every month .......Team Summitt
In my 29 years of driving tractor trailer, Summitt is one of the best companies I've ever driven for. They ALWAYS have a pre-plan on me and there are plenty of miles to be had. Also, I have no problem getting home time when I need it each month. Very good company and VERY friendly staff.
The company is flexible and understanding when unexpected situations arise. However, the low pay, lack of overtime, and absence of raises make it stressful. Employees work every fifth Saturday for standard wages. While the work environment is generally good, driver meetings should be held monthly to address concerns. Pay plays a crucial role in retaining good drivers. Daily operations fluctuate—some days are hectic, while others are slow, with a significant focus on brokered loads and locating empty trailers.
A solid company with friendly colleagues, reliable equipment, and smooth communication. Orientation is straightforward and enjoyable, with a decent lunch provided.
I initially loved working here, but changes in management and personal challenges affected my job assignments. While I can't definitively say management was bad, the significant shift in my work led me to seek employment elsewhere. However, I still highly recommend the company, particularly for team drivers.
The company offers outdated equipment with high mileage, including rusty trailers. Reaching 2,500 miles per week is nearly impossible. Although management is reasonable and easy to talk to, I wouldn't recommend working here—unfortunately, my driving record limits my options.
Overall, the company is great, with a driver-centric approach, friendly staff, and decent regional and long-haul routes. Pay could be slightly better but remains fair.
The best part of working here is clocking out and collecting my modest paycheck. Dispatchers often struggle with organization, making daily operations stressful. The work environment prioritizes productivity over employees’ personal lives.
A highly recommended company with no complaints. A bit more home time and regional or dedicated routes would improve the experience
This company is unreliable. The trucks and trailers are outdated, and drivers constantly idle to avoid battery failures. Pay is insufficient, and management dismisses employee concerns. Orientation feels restrictive, and there aren’t enough trailers available. If you’re considering employment here, keep searching—you can find better opportunities.
Recruiters were transparent about job conditions. Employees enjoy daily home time and good pay, and dispatchers are approachable. Equipment is decent, and reported issues are promptly addressed. I enjoyed working here, but the account I was assigned was discontinued. I recommend this company and would return if they reintroduced local jobs in Indianapolis.
A professional, well-managed company with above-average pay and a respectful work culture. Dispatchers understand driver demands and provide support. The job requires long hours, but the compensation makes it worthwhile. .
This company fails to prioritize employees' needs. I spent more time waiting than driving, and the pay was insufficient considering my experience. To make matters worse, they falsely accused me of abandoning my truck.
My job involved safely delivering merchandise on schedule. I had to plan my route carefully, ensuring timely arrivals for my appointments.
The company regularly shortchanges drivers, falsely advertises bonuses, and is inconsistent with home-time schedules. Better-paying trucking companies exist.
A great employer with competitive pay and a strong focus on employee home time. Unfortunately, regional opportunities are limited for drivers in the southern states.
Compensation is unreasonably low—earning only $600 weekly despite the risks of driving a tractor-trailer. Any experienced driver would recognize the unfairness of this wage.
The company expects over-the-road (OTR) drivers to handle local routes without adequate mileage. Requests for hourly pay are denied. While trucks, trailers, and dispatch operations are strong, the business struggles to transition from a small operation to a larger enterprise.
I had an excellent experience here. My driver manager was outstanding, and the company owner, a former driver, is approachable. The only downside was that being based in Indiana made home time difficult.
A productive and enjoyable workplace with accessible management. Leadership is supportive and open to communication. The hardest part of the job is being away from home.
