I am writing to report an incident regarding a recent load booking that involved your company. We booked an 8 pallet partial load from New York to California at a partial rate. However, upon arrival at the shipper's location, we discovered that the load exceeded the agreed-upon parameters. The shipper attempted to load us with 8 crates equivalent to 40+ spaces, and when our driver refused due to the additional space and the broker's refusal to pay for it, the load was canceled. It has come to our attention that this load was double brokered to us, and we were provided with the original broker's information by the shipper. Additionally, during our last conversation, the broker used abusive language and falsely reported us to FG. We believe these actions to be highly unprofessional and dishonest, and we advise caution when booking with this broker in the future.

I worked with them for 6 months in Lancaster where you have no bathroom or where to take a break and because of a complaint from another worker who for me was harassing me and they didn't do anything good if they did they let me go with silly excuses

Ugh. You'll need to hire someone full-time just to stay on top of all of the Settlement Sheet mistakes. I'm leaving and will cut my losses, it's not worth my time to try and figure out the settlements. In fairness, I believe the issue stems from the dispatch part of the process. If that info isn't accurate, the back office will process the info as it comes across without knowing there are rate shortages and mistakes. Inconsistent, incompetent dispatch and management. I have been an owner operator for 30 years and let my authority go a few years ago. I signed on with one of US 1's subsidiary companies called Freedom Express (aka Freedom 1,LLC) out of Jacksonville, FL. I have been signed on with them for two weeks. So far, since day one, I have a laundry list of reasons why they will not be able to keep drivers. First, after going through the onboard process, you bobtail to their office in JAX and are given a box of ELD and camera equipment, paperwork, etc... No orientation at all. Just put the stuff in your truck, activate it and go. If it weren't for another driver I met, I wouldn't have known that I needed to download and learn the app used at the rail ports. Freedom Express never told me I needed an app to access the yards. The dispatch leaves alot to be desired. My dispatcher, Rodney, is one of "those" Dispatchers that give dispatchers a bad name. Info not accurate, leaves you hanging, hauling overweight with no BOL or permits. Have 24 hours into a load that I will not get paid on because of his incompetence. I Pick up container at midnight in South JAX. Have a 4am in Riviera Beach. Will get there on time, or so I thought.... Was told there would be BOL attached to trailer, but there wasn't, so I made up one of their BOL forms. Get to the weigh station, pulled in. Over gross. No original BOL, no Overweight permit. Held up there for 45 minutes. Made it to my appt an hour late. They won't unload. Long story short, I got jerked around by Rodney at freedom. He wasted my whole day. I had a blowout on chassis, after two hours sitting, waiting for service, he finally tells me that his company uses "Downtime". Why he didn't initially tell me that, I don't know. He is unprofessional, scattered, incompetent. No driver support at all. After another day from hell, this will be my last day. There's too many other companies that appreciate good hardworking drivers. This is not the company for you if you're looking for steady, dependable, organized, transparency, legal operations and to be treated with respect. If you're looking for disorganization, not knowing what your loads pay (even when you ask), scattered and constantly changing work instructions, lack of proper communication and paperwork... Then this is your company. This is honestly one of the worst companies that I have ever worked with. So disappointing because alot of the BS that I dealt with was just plain poor planning and unnecessary on their part.

WARNING! AVOID AT ALL COSTS. this company is shady in Oregon. The claim to give you a bonus, but then they don't. They want to work you like a slave. IF YOU HAVE ANY issues with another driver they won't have your back. And you won't have access to the camera footage at all.

Do not book loads with this company or their subsidiaries. (Lion hart Transportation LLC)Booked a load, the broker emailing me for the carrier packet and telling me to stand by for rate con. Waited an hour, said that acct manager was at lunch and that what was the hold up. Waited another hour, emailed with no response from broker. Horrible customer service with no way of getting through to them.

My husband worked for US 1 in Virginia for almost a year. It started great and went down hill fast. A man named Richard Hogue came and messed it all up. I think US 1 needs to look internally at there management or they will not have a company.

The Staunton il office is a big disgrace to this company and needs to be shut down.

My brother worked for them a total of 2 weeks the trucks were always breaking down. When the trucks broke down he couldn't get any help so he never made any many. The worst company ever. The trucks are in such bad shape the truck flipped over and they didn't even care if he was hurt. This company is a joke.

I worked here one time before driving for another owner but owner moved his truck I didn't want to go but I did but when I stopped working for that other owner my first call was to frank and I came back and enjoying it. I have only one problem working here but I am not going to put them on blast like that even though I should. But hoping one day the problem will work itself out because idk who to contact at corporate but other than that one problem i like it here. Does anyone know if US 1 has merch

Worked as a yard jockey for them in Virginia started out great . Took almost 2 months to get my 90 day raise then another month to get my back pay. Management doesn't seem know what they are doing. They promise you pay raises and don't deliver. Trying to get a hold of human resources is also a huge problem. Best advice is stay away.

This company is a joke. They have kept several drivers final checks and money that was in our escrow accounts. When asked the corporate office for explications they refuse to be of any help the agents do as they please. These are facts ask any former owner opp that has left this company. It’s terrible you can’t provide for your family without someone getting over on you and basically just get strong armed for your final money owed.

I moved on several months ago because of how poorly they treat their drivers. The load sheets were always messed up, I was never able to get a hold of anyone when I encountered problems. They even went so far as to mess up my pay. I have a friend who just informed me that they don’t maintain their chassis FHWA, but still expect owner operators to get inspected ever 3 months. And he also told me that they changed to Transflow and the drivers are required to use their personal devices with this new system, problem with that is they can’t turn the app off even when they are off work, so this app tracks the drivers 24/7, Big Brother much?

The pay is decent, but the company is not a good place to work. The insurance benefits are subpar, and the site manager is incompetent, unable to schedule hours properly, and makes empty promises. I advise job seekers to avoid US1 Shorthaul. It's the worst company I've ever worked for, and all the drivers are unhappy. If the site manager were replaced and upper management kept their promises, it might be a decent place to work again.

Management takes good care of employees. The job is physically demanding but rewarding. The site manager often brings in food as a reward for good work. The pay is excellent with yearly increases, unlike most driving jobs where your pay remains stagnant. I received raises at the 90-day and 1-year marks. The site manager has also accommodated my time-off requests. I plan to retire here. I can't praise this company enough.

Drivers quit or were fired weekly, leading to constant chaos. If you work for the Target account, expect a hostile work environment with constantly changing schedules. You might be sent home early one day and work a 16-hour day the next. Check Indeed to see why they're always hiring.
