I work for wdt as a otr driver. I'm pretty satisfied with them. First time driving a tanker. I wish I knew about them when I first got my cdl.

This isn't rocket science, you pick up an empty trailer in San Antonio, TX, go out to Stephenville TX and bring back a loaded trailer! The ride out to Stephenville can be boring but, it depends on what time you start! I would definitely return to work for WDT!

I’ve worked for WDT for almost a year. They have good equipment and dispatchers who are willing to work with you. The negative is the low pay relative to others in the industry, but as the title said, it’s a good place to start a driving career.

Pay is not as promised. Work is never steady and it makes you wonder how they stay in business Over all if your single and don’t have a lot of bills or family to worry about then it’s for you

What is the best part of working at the company? Good equipment. Trucks had small sleepers , so even though we rarely(never ) spent the night in them, should you Have an extended down time, or just need a Power Nap you could do so What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Added work at the end of the day. Management asked me to drive past my 70 he. Legal limit, I refused, and he told me to park the park , so I did. Goodbye What is the work environment and culture like at the company? They try to keep it friendly, with small celebrations and party’s What is a typical day like for you at the company? Early to rise, work with no one looking over your shoulder, hustle-hustle -hustle, wait -wait -wait, then at the end of the day, pray they don’t ask more of you

What is the best part of working at the company? Great equipment, if not brand new ,in brand new condition What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Constant intrusion by office personnel, once one person in the office dislikes you, the whole office turns on you like a pack of ravenous wolves! All because one timid little gossip took something as an insult , that was never an insult at all, just misunderstanding What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Cool, as long as you don’t rile the Office management, What is a typical day like for you at the company? Was great, because I basically didn’t have to deal with anyone other than the dairy farmers, and they just wanted smooth pickup of their milk, and so did I so that went great!

Great place especially if starting out without having your CDL they pay you during training and give you all the resources you need to succeed and then once you get to the job once you get your CDL if they keep you on local or Shuttle runs so to where you build the experience and feel confident in your job and skill set

53 cents per mile not bad but not enough miles to make it worth your time. How they pay you is screwed up and they need to switch over to being paid every two week. Dispatchers are ok, some I'm not too impressed with.

I have been working at WDT for over 11 years as a driver. Management is concerned for the welfare of the drivers and all of the employees as well. I have worked for many companies over the span of my career and none have proved better than Western Dairy. They pay well and offer competitive benefits. One never has to fight for home time.

It's a good place to start you career. You can get your CDL License through them and you get practice driving to Houston or Dallas. Good practice backing up which is good for new drivers. They went from paying by the load to hourly and you got paid less. They have a first come first serve policy with trucks. If you didn't get there at 2am you could be waiting hours. You don't get paid to wait unless you were their 2 hours. They only do preventive maintenance in Stevensville so if something happened to the truck or if you had to take it in for a pm you were waiting hours.

Good place to start and get your cdl. The hours are there, which is the only thing that keeps this job at the average mark. Low pay, lots of hours, lazy drivers who complain about anything and everything. Never had an issue with management or dispatch, and they will work with you as long as you communicate. Communication is the key word to remember here. There is a lack of it, so if you can be good at it, you will stand out.

Pay/benefits not worth sticking around. If you're new you're on overnights for a year minimum and can only move to days if there's an opening. No overtime and pay is stupid low that even hitting 70 hours every week still has you struggling to make ends meet, especially if you're a one income household with kids. Busted my butt doing everything, haul off and loading to get an 8 cent raise and told that's the best they can do when I asked about it. Dispatch is a junior high with constant rumors and smack talk, immature gossip and obvious favoritism.

Poor Management! Dispatch has poor relationship with the drivers…With absolute no understanding! Not true their word… We never have company meetings/ safety meetings… But they hold us responsible for things that they fill we should already know… From one class to the next, we’re not taught the same things… Driver's are not confident in themselves once released!

Company culture is good for the most part. Local management seems to frequently not know corporate procedure. Hourly pay but no overtime which sucks since you work over 60 hours per week

WDT is a company Ive only heard about from others. Its one of the last companies where you could probably work 20y and retire from,I used to believe that was a modern myth. The drivers are professional and keep to their schedule for the most part, there are always a few bad apples. The management is fantastic! As long as you do your job, perform your duties and stay in your lane -they give you support and guidance.WDT even has a training school in different locations.Im not afraid to admit that keep them in mind for future employment if I ever had to move elsewhere.

At western dairy transportation they you you straight time so if you work 70 hours per week at 20 per hour you going to be payed $1400 instead of getting time in a half for the 30hours you worked over 40 hours

I enjoyed the job itself very much, it's not hard work..the pay is decent and the ppl I worked with are decent and supportive for the most part. The only negative thing I personally experienced was the mechanics. WDT prides itself in safety and so do I, but the mechanics feel like if they're scheduled to get off or close at 6pm then you have to figure out your own issues which is sad because most drivers work the night shift and we need mechanics for issues we have before we get on the road and after so maybe there should be a 24 hour shop for those purposes. Other than that it's a very great job to have! If safety is your number one priority like it should be, the mechanics need to be on board with the rest of us with understanding and respecting that.

If you are new to trucking and recently got the CDL is an ok place to start and get experience but not a good place to retire. Drivers are the last thing of their priorities and safety and good equipment is second to last. Equipment often breaks down and you end up waiting for equipment for long hours, you dont have a set schedule, your schedule begins when a truck is available

There is good and bad in almost any company we all work for or have worked at. WDT is a good stepping stone to help kick your career off and there is good people along with chances for advancement. I dislike the fact that if you get stopped by weather they don't pay you nothing for your time. Atleast give us per-diem to help us out when we are stuck or even giving it to every over the road driver period. Detention pay should start the first hour you are somewhere because if you are not turning your wheels you are not making any money. Or offer a $75-$100 loading/unloading pay. Just doing these would retain more drivers. For hourly drivers no overtime.
