We realize that there is a delicate balance between miles and home time. When our drivers tell us that they need to be home for things like birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations we do everything we can to make it happen. Western Transport always communicates in an honest manner. We wont just tell you what you want to hear, we will tell you the truth even when the truth doesn’t benefit us. To keep our drivers moving in an efficient manner, we currently use state-of-the-art trailer weight gauges and all of our trucks are equipped with pre-pass transponders. Not only do we spec the most efficient trucks, but we began implementing fuel saving technologies before it was the popular thing to do. We strive to continue improving energy efficiency in an effort to reduce greenhouse gases and air pollution.

Western Transport Inc. started in 1963 to deliver building materials for its former subsidiary company. In 1985, it became a self-sustaining carrier under new management. Since then, the company has evolved from 2 trucks to over 60 power units and 85 refrigerated and dry vans. We believe our medium size helps us reliably support our customers’ growth while maintaining a personal relationship with everyone involved.

A great company! They have made us feel like family. I am glad that my husband is driving for them.
I've been driving for Western for about 6 months now and I won't go anywhere else
I’ve been reading the reviews and all I can say about Western is what Alan Ginkel told me, after he had done something way above and beyond what a co-owner is expected to do for an employee at a time of family emergency... I said, “Alan, you’re too good to me,” and he replied, “I treat you the way you treat me.” So that’s the way it goes. Alan is retired now, but Travis Stibal and the ownership team operates on the same principle. If you are honest with them, own up to your mistakes, have integrity, work hard, do what is asked (and they can’t even ASK you to do something illegal, and if they did, it’s impossible for you to do it with current DOT regs) and treat them with respect, you will get the same in return. I’ve been there 10 and a half years so far, and have never even felt the need to talk to another company. I’ve been approached by local companies’ recruiters and drivers and shut them down stat. I don’t disrespect the other companies. I just know they can’t offer what Western can. And it’s not just that they have the best pay package in the area. They are simply the best company.
My boyfriend Mark started driving for Western in Spring of 2018 and he hasn't had a complaint since. When I had a very serious health problem come up and I got put in the ICU, Rachel and Western went above and beyond to make it so Mark could be there to make sure I was ok before they sent him out again. I truly appreciate how much they care about their drivers and loved ones!
the great hard working crew at western will break there backs to get the job done. Dispatch and drivers alike. They also have an amazing shop crew that keeps the Trucks in pristine driving g condition.
The best company
Don in recruiting is awesome.. easy going and very helpful in my CDL training.
Great customer service and a good price. They went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of! The level of customer service was incredible. Very appreciated! It made our community event better by not needing to worry about storage or shipping. Thank you Western! Your driver was great!
Great staff! Great drivers! :-) I’m sure there are some folks that have had a bad experience here and there - but that happens with all companies. The people I have met here have been very respectful, and genuinely care for the employees and community.
I had an interaction with one of their drivers this evening. He thought it was okay to park next to me and block me in. I was next to the curb with 2 trucks in front of me and one behind so we could all get out. I told him that I couldn't get out and his answer was just wake him up when I wanted to leave. Parking at the truck stop was only half full. Do your drivers know how to backup? I got him to move long enough to get out and he took the spot I was in. I have an injured knee and it is hard for me to walk. That is why I parked where I did. I moved to a different parking spot so that he could have his way. I don't feel it is right that I should have to get out of my truck and knock on someone's door when I want to leave a parking spot. I also talked to his dispatch Don Best. Same attitude as the driver.
Our daughter works for Western Transport Inc
I’m leaving this review so low because after talking to a employee who currently is working for you but strongly looking to go elsewhere tells me how crooked of a company this is and upper management is not professional and very greedy!!!
I work here and never ever had any issues with home time.on a side note, you have to take responsibility for your actions out on the road. I have been here for just over a year and learned a lot in that time. I god my cdl through them and got a nice reimbursement after one year.
I work here so my opinion has a slight bias but this is an amazing company to work for the shop is second to none and the people make me come back for more no matter how rough my week was. I have finally found somewhere I fit in and belong. Oh the places you will see :-)
I’m leaving this review because of one of their truck drivers who recklessly drove into our lane while on highway 80. A semi truck, that was driving in front of your company vehicle, was in the right lane and had to pull over onto the shoulder. We were already trapped behind another semi truck in the left lane, when your driver came into our lane instead of slowing down safely for the truck that was pulling over. It forced us to have to slam on our breaks to avoid your company’s reckless driving. I had my infant son is the car. His life is more important than your driver’s ego, who thought it was professional enough to flip us off as we drove by as if it was our fault. License plate I believe to be AK2286. Great representation of the company. Edit: It’s interesting how there was an increase of five-star ratings in the days right after receiving two 1-star ratings for bad driving, but no response from the actual company. I would imagine that this was intentional fluff to divert people into thinking that their terrible drivers are the exception and not the rule. I love how the possible death of my infant son caused by a reckless semi-truck driver going 70+ MPH is downplayed as a “bad experience”.
Great place to work people and staff are pretty chill and cool
Don't work for this company, their drivers like to force other truck drivers on the shoulder,my govern speed is 68mph and his was 69mph in left lane about 20 cats behind him impeding traffic, I will be calling their safety department on this issue
Great people to work for. They treat you fairly and pay pretty well
Don in recruiting is awesome.. easy going and very helpful in my CDL training.
Great place to work. Gotta love it
Hubby works for Western and they treat him well.
Awesome company to work for.
Great place to work
Amazing caring company
No home time
Great company to work for. Excellent home time, and the best pay per mile in the area why work for less when you can work for the best trucking company in all southeast Idaho.
They will lie to your face about home time just to hire you, and then keep half your check when you quit respectfully. Terrible company, full of two-faced little demons.
Love running skateboard for them, honest dispatchers that are drivers themselves, new equipment, pet policy, always gets me home when I ask. Leaves you alone to do your job.
Good people to work for. Always got me home when I needed to get home. Kept the wheels rolling when it was time to work. They took care of any issue with the equipment that came up. Made sure we were as comfortable in the truck as they could make it.
Good equipment. Good management. Pay dependent of max gross loads. Lots of secondary hwy driving. Canada loads pay best. Carrier depends heavily on one shipper. Mill breakdowns cause occasional delays. DEF maintenance causes problems.
